  1. Yeah, different only gets me half the way there.
  2. I'm concerned about the offense too, but Phillie had the league-worst offense. By a lot. Mets were 12th of 15 in runs, seventh in OPS, ninth in OPS+. What killed me was that the OBP was 12th, from an organization that allegedly cares about that sort of thing. Gary and Keith seemed to underscore that Kevin Long was of an "accentuate the positive" mindset, encouraging players to do what they do well. The problem with that was, what happens when what everybody does well is hit homers and strike out a whole lot? it seems there's more room for improvement (which they need) by shaving off some of the negative.

Yup, yup, and yup. Also, two days ago, when the Brave bullpen was self-immolating, Flores ended the inning swinging 3-0. Crazy. When you've got a bullpen burning in game one of a series, make 'em throw a billion pitches. There might be a war of attrition in game two or three.
  4. I haven't read the story, but I enjoyed the film. One issue was that although he's hammering the Pabst, he generally only gets himself half drunk through most of the film. He's surly and says inappropriate stuff, but his balance and speech don't betray him.

Sandy let some bullshit innings in ST fool him and then the stupid WBC gave Sandy the opening to put Montero on the roster as the "long man", much to the delight of every other team in baseball. I think that extends well beyond the mandate of my point.

  7. Well, that's one way to keep from having to use Smokes.
  8. Every game of this series will feature a pinch-running appearance by somebody named d'Arnaud.
  9. Jim Johnson looks like Jim Henderson.
  10. These are coolest of possible nouns Walker to Cabby to Doo A trio of Mets as relentless as hounds Walker to Cabby to Doo Turning a pair just like riding a bike Sending a Braves batter back down the pike Some folks ain't happy, but I think I like Walker to Cabby to Doo

  12. I think that's partly just his look. But he's up there with Doug Flynn body frame in a Mark McGwire world, and I'M almost scared for him. Shouldn't the Mets be going to Smokie before Montero?
  13. Lookin' scared up there, Ty.
  14. d'Arnie is still looking kinda long.
  15. How did Duda get to first? I didn't see any pitches?
  16. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Big beard with no fade to the ears AND no hair is a look that has a People Under The Stairs, cannibal-hillbilly kinda feel to it, no? Well, Edgin's pitching looks better so far, anyway. I'm a little more comfortable with Edgin's hair choices than Robles' to be honest. That guy's got, like, a shmoe-hawk.
  17. This Markakis guy who just hit a triple, by the way ... survivor of spinal fusion surgery. Not the same player he was, maybe, but he's had a few modestly successful seasons.
  18. It's cool to see the pitchers all chatting up deGrom: Matz, Syndergaard ... and Wright.
  19. Well, that should be the last time deGrom has to face Freeman. A good start by Bruce is aces. He needs it mo' than anybody.
  20. Got to send Céspedes 3-2.
  21. Hey, a bezrunner. Bring him around, Grandy.
  22. It's a rare man that can rock the yellow v-neck sweater. Keith is not that man.
  23. Ninety-four from Colón?
