Traumatic injuries are accumulating, though.

Columbia loses to drop to 5-2 tonight. They seem to have a well-balanced team, if thin in the outfield (like all the Met affiliates). They seem particularly solid in the starting pitching. Trump. The answer is Trump.

Gsellman attacks Miami. Wei-Yin Chen defends. Only one will stand victorious at the end of the day. Chen's a lefty. Look for some hot Wilmer action and for Céspedes to go exploring a far deeper ballpark.

One man down.

Man, Reed works fast.

That high pitch is where that long swing hurts you, Travvie.

That's some viscous perspiration Robles is sweating.

Here comes the train.

Same is true of Leiter. I mean, Leiter eventually came up with a butcher boy gimmick swing that worked for him one time in 10.

Hardly a must, but the Mets could do worse than to wear a patch of their own. Wheels' ERA is down five runs from the start of the game.

It's a Shea Stadium "White Riot."

We're moving toward a Conforto/Lagares platoon. By next year, that will be replaced by a Nimmo/Lageres platoon and Conforto will be a full timer. But for now, the Mets are dogged by good luck in the situation. Nobody solved their outfield pinch by making the offer Alderson wanted for Bruce, who is now hitting the cover off the ball, and injuries haven't solved the issue either. Maybe by next week they will. If they don't, Grandy and his topspin drives looks like a bench asset. That said, he's still got the best OBP tool of the mix. He's started slowly every year of his contract anyhow.

When my hat is too tight, it makes me feel smarter.

Signed to fill out some of the depth lost with the waiver claim of Ty Kelly ... is Kelly's Team Israel teammate Cody Decker. Decker's played around the diamond but is mostly a firstbaseman these days, and so is more Eric Campbell than Kelly. He's also more of a slugger, having hit 19 or more homers six times. Roster Central is speculating that he's headed to Vegas, who already has a firstbaseman, and so will be looking for at-bats as a DH. The inset photo is all kinds of goofy. Also, how much crap does he have in his pockets and how much of that mass his his big ol' butt, distorted by the swing?

That wasn't an all-negative outing. Just him coming back one rotation turn later is a positive, in my book.

And April, apparently.

Adam Wilk threw six shutout innings in his first start, but was hit hard over four innings in his second. Wilfredo Boscan shut down the El Paso Chihuahuas in his first start. No runs in five innings. He's perhaps the most attractive option if Harvey has to miss a start. But he's not on the roster. Gilmartin is, but he got hit hard his first time out. Which brings them back to Montero.

It'll be hard to top this evening's game, but the Mets are contractually forced to try. Wins over the last three games have given us a peek at what the rotation can do for a team, and a foolish young reliever has seemingly awoken our team's bats. Go get-em, boys!

Resisted the temptation to run out of the baseline after passing third.

Shouldn't we be getting Montero or Sewald?

d'Arnaud's homer, awesome in its own right, also guarantees Céspedes another turn at the plate.

If you had DOUBLE, please come to the window and collect your winnings.

Get your bets on Céspedes down now.
