  1. Or a game-ending double-play, giving Vance Worley the save in a 12-run game.
  2. Yeah, show me the thread as we work on this all-swinging-bunt 11-run rally.
  3. Ugly Mets. Ugly stadium.
  4. Bringing in Robles with runners on base is cruel at this point.
  5. Oh, Gordon, go for the plate for goodness' sake.
  6. Harvey's sliders aren't moving. Stanton's hits are.
  7. Add Harvey to the list of Mets disinterested in holding runners on.
  8. Gosh did Reyes show his age on that infield hit by Ozuna.
  9. That is more or less the least surprising name possible. Not sure why it's an "Uck," however.
  10. Nimmo must bat first. Any other thought is unbearable.
  11. He lasted longer than The Fox.
  12. ... but how many times will you see Roger Clemens pitch as poorly as he did in the first game? These things happen. It`s all part of the circus.``
  13. Keep in mind, Angelos is 88.

My guess is that the Mets will in fact go with a guy who has big-league managing experience, or at least AAA experience, but in the unlikely event that they don't, I have a hunch that Michael Cuddyer might be in the mix. There are a LOT of old managers out there. Too old to work again, but with a nice long sunset. Managing seems like an unhealthy lifestyle, and moreso back in the day, but it seems two or three years of managing in your middle years is a nice crucible building toward a long life.
  15. Because José Fernandez is dead.
  16. Preparing for the Mets expected managerial change at the end of the year, I've been reviewing the records of all living former MLB managers. This Moose Stubing guy needs a break. He managed eight games for the 1988 Angels, taking over the last part of the season for Cookie Rojas, and went 0-8. And that's it. He was 50 then and is now 79, going on 80 and hasn't gotten another chance to put something, anything, in the win column. He never even managed again in the minors, so jaded by his winlessness that he moved over into scouting and also became an NCAA Division I basketball referee.
  17. Yeah, Buck still retains full and complete faith down here.
  18. Fman99 wrote: We watched it. A win is a win. I'd love for them to get to 70 wins this year. They'd have to go 6-8 to do that. For some reason 69-93 just looks and sounds worse than 70-92. Maybe it's me. No, the laws and principles of mathematics agree with you. 70 is definitely better is than 69. Except in golf. Weird sport.
  19. Stumbled over a 2011 episode of Blue Bloods (for some reason). The main suspect's name? Darin Gorski.
  20. Edgy MD wrote: Smith doubles in two runs, and Gary calls it with "And Lucas drives one to right field!" It's September for everybody.
  21. It's this new pitch, AJ. It's called a "fastball."
  22. But apparently AJ didn't bring too many strikes with him today.
  23. There's rumbling that he's going to get an inning in the next few days, but I'm sure it'll be AJ.
  24. Will Syndergaard get the ninth?
  25. The Braves get a cheap single richocheting off second, and the stupid tomahawk song starts.
