  1. You're right. Of course, that's why God made platoons. Two guys can help round off each other's rough edges.

  3. Yeah, he's for real. He could do better at situational hitting, but that's eggs-in-your-beer stuff. He's probably the team's best hitter right now. And with Granderson in LA, he's the only one left that's respecting the value of a walk. But he should be leading off.
  4. We went to stadium! And laughed at all the Mets fans Crying "Phillips's batting cleanup! We shouted for Chris Flexen They said "He don't pitch good!" We said "If you don't cheer for Chris Flexen than your attitude's perplexin'!"
  5. Yeah, the only way the Mets were ever going to give him a September callup was if he and they had understood that he was done with the baseball fandango after the season. If they want him to continue this career, by all means, keep him off the 40 until he's ready to help the team. A September callup in 2018 would be a raging success, and just about in perfect alignment with the best-reasonable-case timetable. If the Mets want to call up an extry outfield dude for the remaining games, I would recommend Travis Snider.
  6. So, this is the offseason we sign Colin Kaepernick, right? Right?
  7. I was really joking when I asked that question. I'm glad it provided some substance to the thread.
  8. Travis Taijeron for Nimmo? I have my doubts.
  9. Well, we just got Murphed.
  10. The old one-hit-since-the-third strategy in full effect tonight.

  13. BOOM! Let's get Jamie a win!
  14. Good whiff of Taylor, Callahandy, now get out of this.
  15. Do folks still care about hitting popups?
  16. And Oakland catcher Bruce Maxwell became the first MLB-er to take a knee for the national anthem. #solidarity.
  17. Put Pete back in!
  18. Does Harvey get a blown save?
  19. Pete hitting 98 in the first and gets the job done on five pitches. Wonder if they'll give him another batter or two.
  20. But have we hit a press-coverage tipping point? And no longer will we decide what is classy after-the-fact, attributing that adjective to anything Jeter does? Hiding behind a hatchet-man is so weak.

  22. I realize the Mets are playing terribly, and they're to be mocked in everything they do, but I'm not sure what the complaint is here. It seems like a pretty obvious choice.
  23. My girlfriend couldn't get Cabrera's broken-down ass into second base. I've realized that I need September wins more than I thought, because nothing else is going on. There isn't a minor league team to turn to when the Mets are getting whupped. Desmond Lindsay isn't turning it around somewhere. There aren't front office machinations or draft-day prep or even off-season rumors. There's just the Mets, playing out the string. And in the case of this year, mostly terribly.
