  1. Leadoff dubble in the ninth. Let's rally, you Mets!!
  2. Recklessly written and recklessly passed tax law means that MLB trades are now apparently taxable. It probably won't last, because it was probably inadvertent, and sports owners are rich dudes plugged into the system, and very often Republicans, but for now, there you are.
  3. Cabrera seems to be quietly getting it done this spring.
  4. Oh, I saw Dunkirk, and found myself even more disengaged.
  5. No, I was just celebrating the strange delight that Gary Oldman, who once played the subversive ectomorph Sid Vicious, has now, later in his career, been called to play the establishment endomorph Sir Winston Churchill, alternately undermining and saving all that is good about the British nation and her character. It's a great vehicle for Oldman's performance, but beyond that, it feels flat and dishonest. It's interesting to see Churchill struggling with self-doubt, as it certainly makes him more relatable, but by almost all historical accounts, the guy was the very embodiment of resolve. And the climatic journey aboard the London underground seems so cinematically perfect that it has to be untrue, and it isn't. It's also a war movie without a war.
  6. Sure, but you have to give me more than "I have no idea," or there's nothing worth archiving. Be bold! He got the save yesterday!
  7. Strike three! Mets win!
  8. O's announcer calling him Gesselman.
  9. Birdies get the tying run to third with one out. Gsellie gets a strikeout, and walks the next guy with a 3-2 pitch. Winning run on first and tying run on third if you're a bird.
  10. Orioles knocking Smeth Lugo around in the bottom of the eighth, cutting a 5-1 lead to 5-4. So far.
  11. Mets brought the styx and have put Syndergaard on top 4-0. Big hits by d'Arnaud and Nimmaud.
  12. Bundy and Sydergaard trade scoreless firsts. O's fans have no faith in the Oriole pitching staff.
  13. Jaosn Vargas Injury/Malady: Non-Displaced Fracture, Non-Pitching Hand Current Activity: Working out, not using the hand Prognosis: Two to six weeks, depending on whether he opts for surgery, which is indeed an option So the Wheeler/Matz competition ends where most competitions for the back end of the rotation seem to end.
  14. Charlie Manuel, stepping up.
  15. Two orange-as-secondary-color teams meet in Sarasota. Dylan Bundy always sounded to me like the name of a horrible nineties rock band. Host Orioles are stacking the lineup. In fact, with regular DH Mark Trumbo out with a strained quad, this is pretty close to the A-team. All other regulars are starting today. 16. We also get the return of Anthony Swarzak, so I think yay. I'll also salute Jay Bruce bunting against the shift and Phil Evans continuing to thwack. And spring is for hope.
  17. I'll take a stupid victory considering how elusive the smart ones are. I'll also celebrate the debut of Wilmer Flores as an outfielder and the awakening of Wilmer Flores' bat, which I was suspecting wouldn't happen this year.
  18. The Washington Nationals? I caught for those losers. You want enemy information? I got it all. Anthony Rendon? Eats like 30 Pop-Tarts a day and is, like, TOTALLY constipated ALL the time. Max Sherzer? Covetous weirdo. Can't see an expensive car next to him at a traffic light without having to have it. Like, he drives straight to the dealer. Michael Taylor? The German word is saugenhintern. Like totally the biggest suckass. Managers, suits, owners ... he's always trying to ingratiate himself. Saugenhintern. I got more of these. And I'll tell you if you put me on the big league squad. But what do you know about me? And my 2018? A head full of chocolate syrup! Seriously, screw those guys. nG_Z9osZ72o
  19. "9-6, New York ... or at least something resembling the Mets beating something resembling the Nationals." Missed you, Howie!
  20. I came so late in the offseason that Edgy was past G and had to back up to include me in his stupid poll. You wanted more depth so that last year doesn't happen again? They got me. OK, I'm SORRY that I'm not Yu Darvish. But I played with him and I learned ALL his tricks. That's why the Mets got me. They're SMART! Why pay for Yu when you can get the guy who WATCHED Yu on a minor league deal. But a minor league deal means I'm ... likely heading to the minors. To start off, anyhow. But I'll be back. YOU'LL SEE. And we'll set a RECORD for most A.J.s on a TEAM! Actually what DO you see? Let me know below. 21. Nido singles home John Mora for the tie, and Guillorme gives the Mets a lead with the squeeze. I LOVE THE SQUEEZE!!
  22. An Hansel Robles misses on a couple of close 3-2 pitches and gives up a three-run homer to the seemingly made-up Moisés Sierra. Another lead done gone.
  23. Tomás Nido pegs Difo stealing third. Lóboton threw one into center earlier.
  24. Looks like Flores handled his first chance, a fourth inning flyout off the bat of his namesake Wilmer Difo. Nothing else hit to him, on the ground or in the air, but he's still out there.
