Steve's got it. 2008 definitely says, "An investment in the Mets is a safe, conservative addition to your portfolio. From energy innovation to agrobusiness expansion, the Mets are securing smart foundations for a prosperous tomorrow."

Good to get Frazier into the act. One funny thing about the 10-1 start up until today was that, whether you loved the way the Mets approached the offseason or hated it, the point had been mostly rendered moot. They started out on this tear despite having little more than nothing to show for the offseason. Vargas hasn't appeared yet. Swarzak had thrown only 2 1/3 innings. Frazier had a .708 OPS (before his PotG-quality performance this evening). Leaving aside the bargain basement grab of Gonzalez, the only big-ticket offseason acquisition that had been contributing was Bruce. But he's arguably been keeping the hotter player out of the lineup.

Who is this Nimmo guy? Let's get him into the lineup tomorrow.

I got mine, slept in it after a long night of drinking, and then returned it. It was a 2XL.

I welcome the return of Nimmo, for it's own sake, and for the implicit acknowledgement that an offense that has replaced d'Arnaud and Plawecki with Nido and Lóbaton isn't one that can afford to park a machine like Nimmo in Las Vegas. There's probably nothing to it, but it seems like when they go for homeboys, the Mets get Bronx guys and the Yankees get Brooklyn guys. Anyhow, maybe Monell can bring some of that 2015 vibe with him. Or not funk up the 2018 mojo at any rate.

A good cowboy alway rides to the rescue.

Geovany Soto.

Send Nimmo to Miami, and watch him beat us 10-12 times a year.

We had a minor organizational sweep tonight. Yeah, the Mets and the Rumble Ponies were out of action, but The 51s, The LucieMets and The Fireflies all took care of business: Las Vegas 10, Albuquerque 3 St. Lucie 8, Tampa 4 (LOL Yankees) Columbia 7, Asheville 5 (10) Prospect of the Day Bronze: Steven Villines, Columbia, W, 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 5 SO =#C0C0C0]Silver: Jacob Zanon, St. Lucie, 3-5, 3B, 3 RS =#BFBF00]Gold: Ty Kelly, Las Vegas, 3-5, 2 3B, HR (10 total bases!), 3 RBI, 3 RS

And Columbia goes up by two in the 10th with a rally ignited by Gio Alfonzo being given free unearned passage to second base!

Tied 5-5 in the ninth with Ashville this evening, The Columbia Fireflies are off to a 4-3 start, sitting two games off the pace in the South Atlantic League's Southern Division. Top prospect Anthony Kay anchors the starting rotation, while breakthrough candidate Blake Tiberi leads the offense. The corner outfield slots belong to 2017 draftees and Stanford teammates Quinn Brodey and Matt Winnaker, but the truth is that the infielders are all doing the hitting so far. You want a good name for a closer? Better than "Vic Black" or "Jack Leathersich"? How about "Cannon Chadwick"?! Gosh, everything really is coming up Millhouse.

When was the last time the Syndergaard / deGrom / Harvey / Matz / Wheeler rotation actually took the mound consecutively as an intact rotation. Was this the first time ever? I expect it's the first time the team has actually ticked off five wins in a row with that rotation.

Pitching for the Tigers these days, Zimmermann was popped in the face by a line drive off of the bat of Jason Kipnis. Went down hard but walked off the field. I feel like managers, even with the tying run on base, don't want to spend a player on pinch-running unless/until he gets into scoring position, seeing the advantage of having a fast guy on second to score on a single a lot more of an edge than having a fast guy on first to score on a double — which is exactly what we needed as it turns out. I probably would have replaced him too. But it's a new world. Benches are short and you need all your players. Reyes was your ninth-inning pinch-hitter if the Mets don't win the game there. If anything, Mickey probably would have had deGrom running for Plawecki, which probably doesn't give them much of an edge. Heck, after getting hit, Plawecki probably had an adrenaline rush to work off of.

Replace Reyes and you lose him. Who would you have gone with last night, by the way, if an emergency catcher was needed? Flores? Frazier?

Is Brian Snitker the second-best manager in the East? It suddenly seems like the Phils, the Marlins, and the Nats all have guys who have been shooting themselves in the foot. And so far, it's been to our benefit.

Miami: "The only way we part with Realmuto is if you'll see clear to sending us L.J. Mazzilli." Mets: "(shit)"

June. At some point. What happens tomorrow, man? Does Lugo lose his role for pitching too well in the pen, or does Wheelie get sent back to Vegas. That's where the drama lies.

You think he sticks? It would be something for Lugo to lose his spot in the rotation without having actually started a game yet.

Justin Dunn turned in his second superlative start, equaling his five shutout innings from Opening Day. He's now 10 innings into his season having yielded no runs on eight hits and three walks, striking out 14. Only one of the eight hits he's allowed has gone for extra bases.
