I understand. Somehow, there's something wrong with hitting .333. No, actually, it's unadulterated bullshit. I'm about the most animated guy in the dugout, supporting the guys who are playing when I'm not, even though they almost invariably have lower numbers than me. Also, come on, I'm sleeping with some Star Wars apparatus on my face. My eyes don't look stoned anymore. My ass doesn't look fat anymore. I'm drawing walks, I'm hitting against the shift, and I'm not really striking out. Oh, and I got my head in the game more than previous years, and frankly, more than most guys out there. Head in the game, even when my ass isn't, if you get my meaning. Nobody could be happier than myself about Pete Alonso's breakthrough. NOBODY! And you know why? Because no man is my enemy. Because Worf, my hero, taught me that the test of a true warrior is not how he fights the war without — but how he fights the war within. And because my grandma said the only competition is with the guy you were yesterday, and if you stay ahead of him, there's always going to be a place for you. "I've never seen a baseball team that had too many good players!" she said. I've done everything the Mets have asked, and everything my grandma and Worf have taught me. And you know what? Apparently, the Mets have too many good players. Suddenly, there's no room for a former first-round draft choice with a 144 OPS+ and a solid glove to boot. I'm going to Syracuse. Because the Mets think they need another back-end reliever or some shit. Answer me two questions: Is this really what my season is going to be about? What the hell is wrong with this world?

Low-ball hitter: Yeah, it's the most boring video on YouTube, but I figured it should be part of his record.

Yeah, I'm down about that too. Also, the team established an offensive approach that was working, and he seems dead set on abandoning it.

He always struck me as a heavy-hearted, sensitive guy. I certainly don't like the thought, but I tend to figure that to be an everyday big-league catcher, you have to at least partially be an asshole.

Good for LA. With Travis out of work for a few days, it struck me that Noah Syndergaard was the last active player from the R.A. Dickey trade, but nope, Josh Thole is still grinding it out with the Dodgers AAA affiliate in Oklahoma. Although, I guess he just got knocked down the depth chart by a notch.

Josh Hader Darth Vader James Spader Names laden with nothing but trouble. They did it without Amy, too.

Yanking Vargas here seems kinda goofy, but I'm sure it's not a white flag. Boo on losing a run to a 5-6-3.

Yeah, the irregulars get one back!

The only reason transitioning to robo-umps is under serious consideration is because of Angel Hernandez. If he got fired tomorrow, the union would be up in arms. But keeping him in the umping pool is actually creating a threat to everybody else. Is that overstated? Anyhow, looks like I could have waited until the 14th to start the thread.

On the other hand, great DP turned.

Maybe putting Frank Taveras back at shortstop may not have been the best play.

=LWFS post_id=8984 time=1556860506 user_id=84] Was just reminded of how much I really did enjoy this while rehashing it with a co-worker. So funny and fun, especially in that thar middle. Hulk and the stairs, some Ant-Man or other's bladder control issues, the very idea of a Time Heist... it's just four-color joy in motion, really. =41Forever post_id=8397 time=1556413546 user_id=69]We like Hawkeye, the under-appreciated Avenger.

We're in the fifth, man.

Todd Zeile does a good Harry Carey. Todd DiLaMuca probably does also.

Oakland is second from the bottom in OPS production at first. That's mostly Kendrys Morales, who has been stinky-poo. The Athletics hope to compete in 2019, are four games out, are budget-pinched enough to prefer a pre-arbitration acquisition, and currently employ as an advisor the former Mets GM who drafted Smith. If I was shopping, they'd be my first call.

I woundn't expect them to be turned on by his outfielding, but they live with Canó's infielding, and that's on a day-in/day-out basis.

Mets winless in the post-d'Arnaud era.

'Cept on Tuesdays. Anybody want in on the Josh Hader Elbow Blowout Date Pool?

Pllrf.

Both Davis and Frazier fell chasing the elevated fastball.

This is a situation that calls for a guy with a short, compact swing.

I'll take the double to right center. Thanks.

Bunt against the shift, Conforto. This guy is hard enough to hit.
