  2. Two Mets. https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2020/08/screen-shot-2020-08-24-at-12.54.52-pm.png>
  3. Isn't that Todd Zeile Thumbs-Down Guy?
  4. Well, dead guys do, too. For my money, Brenneman deserves a suspension, but not the end of the road.
  5. I wonder if Robin and Cornelia had a double wedding with Batman and Morticia. https://i1.wp.com/www.tor.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/marsha_batman_wedding.jpg?fit=475%2C%209999&crop=0%2C0%2C100%2C356px>
  6. So, is there, like, a lite version of the testing? Everyone I know who has been through it found it pretty invasive and annoying and was in no mood to do it again any time soon, much less daily.
  7. Yeah, Left Behind in Miami sounds ominous. It's like a Christian young adult novel.
  8. The team flew from Miami to New York on Thursday night, leaving behind the tewo members of the organization who had tested positive and those that were deemed to have been in close contact with them. Stipulating that this is — first, last, and primarily — a miserable turn of events for those personnel involved, this sounds like the Mets might also have to do some Marlins-type waiver-wire scrounging to be able to field a team over the next few weeks. They are already pretty short on outfield depth, so we may either see Andres Gimenez roaming in center or Tim Tebow join the offsite player pool. The Blue Jays just designated lefty-swinging centerfielder Anthony Alford. Look for him to be a CovidMet pretty soon.
  9. So they're all bunking out on the stadium concourse?
  10. I don't think we should put too much energy into award speculation. This is all going to change day-to-day. If the season ends today, Sonny Gray is probably a hair ahead of deGrom. Maybe two hairs. By next week, any number of circumstances — possibly related to the players' actual performances, possibly not — will have occurred. I'm just hoping (1) Tony DeFrancesco or Tim Teufel or someone isn't gonna die, and (2) whatever games the team plays, they win. Take 'em one day at a time. Do what you can to help the team. Give it your best shot and, the good Lord willing, things will work out. Awards are for insecure guys anyhow.
  11. Well, we're not looking at that right now.
  12. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=44349 time=1597974090 user_id=68] There goes deGrom's third straight Cy.
  13. I'm all about giving up the delusion of bullpen perfection that has drained good pitchers away from rotations for far too long. How much better is a bullpen with Lugo/Diaz/Betances/Familia/Wilson/Shreve/Hughes/Brach than a bullpen with Diaz/Betances/Familia/Wilson/Shreve/Hughes/Brach? The answer has to be something marginal, right? I was very impressed by Rojas sticking to his guns last night.
  14. =kcmets post_id=44324 time=1597957234 user_id=53] [sarcasm]The line up is over on the Mets Twitter feed for those waiting for Edge to build a table [/sarcasm]
  15. A notable part for me is that it was during the pre-game show. I've heard enough radio broadcasters hit the autopilot by the sixth inning, well into beer three or four, but shit-talking like your Uncle Todd before the first pitch is hardcore.
  16. There are people who find a fit for themselves in Twitter, and folks who don't. I can't stand the place — I feel like I'm in the Old West and the bullets are coming from every direction and fired by blind, drunken children — but I'm pretty sure that when folks like metsirish disappear, it's because Twitter is where they've found their voice and their community.
  17. Frayed Knot wrote: Now THAT is how you 'Vulture' a win: walk the tying run in then strike out the next four hitters after your RF'er has handed you the lead. The Mets didn't bring in Phil Regan last year for nothing.
  18. Wow. Maybe this is the game that turns Díaz around. I mean, I've speculated about that one before, but ...
  19. Fear not. If Diaz doesn't nail it down, we still got some super-sexy Brad Brach action available.
  20. Worth noting that the part of Dominic Smith is now being played by Billy Hamilton.
  21. Lugo is apparently being held back to get the start tomorrow. By the way, I'm all for Luis doing that.
  22. Well, that came up short.
  23. Hitting a ballooning shirt. POO! POO! POO!
  24. Well, poo. Zero margin for error with Betances here.
