Luis Torrens, backup catcher with demonstrable utility despite currently rocking a .200 batting average and a .467 OPS, has been reportedly rewarded on this, his 30th birthday, with a two-year extension. The contract, covering the 2027 and 2028 seasons, is reportedly worth $11.5 million over the two years.
