  1. Nats & Phils both win their Sunday games. So it's a weekend where we gained a game on each of them plus two on the Marlins.

  3. Big Jim Slade bails 'em out of another tough jam. [fimg=250:klvub71c]http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/avatars/39/39db347a4d56d1306b243ba5b4e9e37192f1b962_full.jpg[/fimg:klvub71c]
  4. A few more pitches than you'd prefer for Noah (82 over 5 innings) especially with a well-worked bullpen out there. But, other than that, a good game with just the one unearned run. Be nice he he can get through 6 & 7 cleanly.
  5. "... and remember, the laces of the glove don't count" It's come to this, folks.

I think someone is taking a bit of editorial license here 3. Saturday's walk-off win was the first for New York since July 31, 2015. The Wilmer Flores game!!
  7. When will David Wright retire? Not today.
  8. Nats went into the 9th down by 2 in Miami. 3 singles and a walk cut the lead to 1 with bases loaded and no outs!! But a Jayson Werth 5-2-5 GiDP was followed by a Jose Lobaton GO to end the game!!!
  9. Zvon wrote: David Wright's first walk-off hit in 10 years. I thought Gary said since 2012 (the year, not the RUSH album). Either way it had been a while.
  10. I wouldn't have give Dabid the green light on 3-0 either ... but it worked!
  11. I wouldn't have done that (Reynolds bunting w/2 strikes) but it worked.
  12. The nice cool steady head of Asdrubal Cabrera helps us out again. Now someone needs to win this damn thing!!
  13. Be nice to hold them here and win it in the booth of the inning; we'll be running out of bullpen soon.
  14. Braves beat Phils for the second day in a row, holding them to just one run total in the two games. (and Gary talks about it just as I'm hitting 'Submit')
  15. Zvon wrote: How was it bad? Gary said that too but it looked like a routine slide to me. He could have started the slide later, and maybe to better results, but that was as boring a routine slide I've ever seen. Yeah, he slid too early to the point where he had practically come to a stop by the time he reached the bag. Slide hard into that pillow dammit!

Geez, I don't tend to think of guys my height yet 20 pounds lighter than my already thin frame being a professional athlete. Somebody needs to tell him, though, that slathering tattoos all over your arms does NOT make baby-faced, skinny guys look older or tougher. It just makes you look dorkier and like you're trying too hard. Although at this point he's out-pitching deGrom and on about half as many pitches so perhaps I just better shut up.

  18. In today's baseball I suspect most team's pitching staffs (and most of the lineups for that matter) are setting new strikeout records almost every year.

  20. The Brews have the 2nd worst WHiP and 3rd worst ERA in the NL behind only Cincy & Colorady (2nd worst when home field factors are taken into account) with no LH starters and, as noted by Monk, the 37 y/o Chris Capuano as the only LHR out of the pen. One would think all of that plays right into the Mets' hands and would be the perfect antidote for our recent hitting troubles - cuz we can talk about the failures of Harvey & Colon all we want but it needs to be noted that we scored just 4 runs in the entire Washington series, 3 of them via solo HRs. On the other hand this Anderson guy (Sunday's starter) had a no-hitter going into the 8th vs the fence-busting Cubs in his last start so whodafuckknows.
  21. Braves (5-1) and the Nats (4-1) are leading their games in the 9th. Jackie Bradley for the BoSox gets his hitting streak to 25
  22. A little more hitting (and a bit more luck) would have been nice, but this sure beats the hell out of 3-1/2 hour long walk-a-thons we've been suffering through lately.
  23. Fman99 wrote: Campbell, like Rudy Stein, probably best able to serve his team by leaning into one now and then. Bam!
  24. Addison Reed has not only been pretty good most of this year, but he's very efficient most of the time too. No muss, no fuss, and no wasted time.
  25. That's a lot of baserunners allowed by old friend Carlos T. (21 hits + 12 walks in 21 innings ... now 21-1/3)
