  1. And that's why you build up five run leads, so you can withstand surprise grand slams. Game was never in doubt .... except for the times it was in doubt.
  2. Duda with a bit of a glare at Neris's celebration of the strikeout.
  3. A bit premature on that kind of projection. Even Miguel Cabrera has of 3 singles in 24 ABs (.125) so far this season so we need to stick a big SSS alert on Jose-Jose still. If Reyes is hitting one-something in June and Rosario still at .400-plus at the same time then maybe we'll talk, and even then it depends on what the story is with Wright, Flores, and Rivera.
  4. Could've left Wheeler in to do that!
  5. What Gary is forgetting is that Koosman became a better hitter as his career went on. Now better is a relative turn, but while he WAS awful when he first came up, he morphed into less awful later.
  6. I thought this was going to be about someone getting stabbed on the field.
  7. Early returns on Amed Rosario's debut in AAA: 11 for 26 although all are singles and with no walks, leading to the rather interesting slash line of .423/.423/.423 Also 2 SBs in 3 attempts and only 2 strikeouts

  10. Frayed Knot wrote: Trea Turner to the DL with a hamstring injury, something which is never a good thing for a speedster SS. In recent years this would be a sign for the versatile Danny Espinosa but he moved on over the winter so Stephen Drew is the current replacement. Yeah, ignore all the above as, after two games, Stephen Drew now goes to the DL with ... a strained hamstring. Must be contagious. Nats call up something named Grant Green to fill in. He's had bits of four seasons with OAK, LAA, & SFG (350 total PAs) btw, the Nats (non-pitcher) hitting line so far is a rocking .321/.396/.546 with only Anthony Rendon and the now-DL'd Trea Turner off to slow starts this year. All other starters are currently hitting .300+ including a .472 BA for Murphy and .435 from Matt Weiters. That helps to explain their ML-leading 6.00 RS/G By contrast, even last night's hit-stravaganza only managed to bring the NYM team offense to .232/.305/.449 (4.88 R/G)

It's also yet another example of Gary & Ron getting their talking points from the CPF (not Keith though, reading would cut too much into either his pre-game nap time or his post-game cocktail hour)
  12. Gotta like Odubel Herrera climbing the wall on Duda's shot so he'd only be 45 feet from catching it instead of 50.
  13. Edgy MD wrote: Harvey with a shot at a granny. Which is odd considering that he usually is seen with younger women.
  14. Amazing how much better things turn out when you get the leadoff guy on, eh?
  15. cooby wrote: Why do the Yankees wear pinstripes? Because Babe Ruth would have looked even fatter otherwise. We also would have accepted as answers: Yogi Berra, Elston Howard, Goose Gossage, Thurman Munson, Steve Balboni, Mark Teixeira, or Gary Sanchez* * who, btw, is out for at least the next month with a "strained biceps", aka: steroid overdose
  16. Ceetar wrote: Whatever happened to Mettle the Mule anyway Can't confirm this 100% but rumor has it he's still around, only now it's as part of the Shake Shack menu. Don't tell anyone though.
  17. Started kinda ugly, but nice job boyzzz.
  18. Brock Stassi to lead it off in the 9th. Wasn't he a member of the East German Politburo before that whole reunification thing?
  19. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I think this is about the Epic Cabrera HR off Ramos last season. That's gotta be it. The cool part here is, if this score holds as is, Ramos gets the 'L' as Cabrera's run was the go-ahead.
  20. That would be your NL HR leader Jay Bruce (and tied for ML lead). He shoulda flipped the bat.
  21. We're really good at hitting pop-ups.
  22. 7 NYM HRs this season ... 6 of them with bases empty. It's good to know some things never change.
  23. Apparently the team put, 'Strike Out a Whole Fucking Lot' on the game plan for tonight.
  24. Otis has been found. No word on where he was while he was considered missing, but it looks like we won't have this story to kick around anymore.
  25. Michael Pineda just lost a perfect game in the 7th inning at the Yanx home opener. Evan Longoria was the [crossout:17wca2c5]culprit[/crossout:17wca2c5] hero doubling into the LF corner with two outs. 2-0 Yanx thru 6-1/2. 11 Ks for Pineda oe: now 3-0 heading for the 8th Also from this week's 'TWIB' notes. This is the first season for MLB without either Vin Scully or Connie Mack being part of the game since ... 1885!! '86 was the first year Mack played professionally. His final year as Philly A's manager was 1950, coincidentally the first year Scully started broadcasting for the Dodgers. Mack was born Cornelius Alexander McGillicuddy in East Brookfield, MA during the second year of the Civil War.
