  1. Espinosa is like oh for his last 90*, but is one of those guys who could "run into one". * actually was 4-for-40 in the month of May prior to that AB ... but my point remains
  2. The Angels have four runs tonight on [u:2yyu9cd0]NO[/u:2yyu9cd0] hard hit balls. Their best contact came on two fly-outs in the 2nd inning. At least make them earn it!!
  3. Wheeler, Ramirez, and now Reed all walking guys after starting the guy 0-2
  4. DONT. LET. TROUT. COME. TO. THE. PLATE.

I wonder if he had a similar deal as last year, where he'd sign a minor league contract with the stipulation that he'd get a release if anybody came sniffing. And the Braves go out today and deal for Matt Adams from the Cards (for a minor league IF + cash). That doesn't look good for the just-signed James Loney. Also not good for Anthony Recker who gets DFA'd to make room.

  8. btw, this catcher Graterol ... that sounds like an energy drink for old folks ... a combo of Gatorade and Geritol.
  9. Man, the Angels have been a BAD defensive team these last two days ... even Andrelton. 2 run leads are blown in the 9th inning about 10% of the time; 3 run saves about 1/3 that often so, yeah, big two-out RBI from Wilma.

  11. Nice job by Salas And Walker had a bit of a point on that potential GiDP; if it's now illegal for the runner to slide through the base, is it also illegal to run through it standing up?
  12. Our RBIs tonight haven't exactly been works of art, but at least we're getting them even if only one at a time. Could have broken this game open about five different times already though.
  13. Nice of Calhoun to make 3 different outs tonight (1 GiDP, 1 FO) with two runners on each time to end innings so that Trout has yet to bat with any runners on. Speaking of Calhoun, he's probably too young to have been nicknamed 'Haystacks' ... and that's a shame.
  14. metirish wrote: Yeah Rodriguez is into talking about this Mets fandom , I'll say this for him, he sounds like he has done his research etc, talking about the type of hitter Duda was in the minors. Comparing COnforto to Greg Jeffries eh?? ARod has always been a baseball geek; that sounds redundant but not all players are. Now, sure, he's done (read: been fed) some research also, but that he'd remember certain traits from certain past players doesn't surprise me and is probably not AS prompted as it would be with another jock turned mic-jockey. And, yeah, he's told the Met fan story before. He also told anyone who would listen at the time that he grew up idolizing Atlanta's Dale Murphy (it's why he wore #3) when he thought the Braves might sign him to a contract. He may well have been a Mets/Keith fan, but it doesn't mean he would have left 100-mil on the table as some NYM fans assumed back during his FA tour. He and Boras were up front about how they wanted to set new records with his deal. He wasn't going to leave a dollar and 25 cents on the table.

  16. Edgy MD wrote: So, if Reyes didn't net that ball on the second stab, how awful would it be in Metsworld this morning? Depends on what kind of bounce it took. Still maybe time for a force play even if he drops it, certainly at 2nd and maybe even at home (and maybe a DP?!?) But if it skittered into no-man's land ... then, yeah, things coulda gotten ugly. And on such twists of fate managers' seats get hotter or colder.
  17. Meanwhile, the Yanx lost their game in Tampa on a late run and the Nats just lost to Atlanta, also on some late runs off the pen. Yeah the (suddenly hot) Braves are ahead of us also, but I think it's best if they get the better of Washington this weekend to tighten the whole division up.
  18. You shouldn't kill stink bugs. The smell they give off when you kill them is what attracts other stink bugs. But if you think it's somehow connected to the Mets tossing a shutout ... then squish away!
  19. cooby wrote: Wait.... did Harvey start this game? The other team has no runs so ... no!
  20. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Howie calls the Reyes catch "the first electrifying moment in CitiField this year." He's right. Gary mentioned before that the Angels have had six (or maybe it was five) walk-off wins so far this year. We've just had the one.
  21. Edgy MD wrote: If we had the infield in there, that's two runs. Except if you're Luis Gonzalez, in which case you only need one.
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: Now all we need is a [crossout]half a dozen[/crossout] five or so tack-on runs and I'll start to feel like we've got at least a 50/50 shot at this game.

  24. You can't stop Rene Rivera you can only hope to contain him.
