  1. Nice three innings from the Midnight Toker (and it's almost midnight). Now would someone please make him a winning pitcher?!? PH - Conforto - Reyes due up.
  2. One baserunner since the Duda HR in the 6th, and no one else has even threatened to get on! In a way, though, unless d'Arnaud was going to hit a walk-off, making an out might have been better than say hitting a single as it keeps Smoker in the game. A pinch hitter would have brought in Ramirez.
  3. Both sides go down on 3 Ks in the 10th, but the Brewer hurler needed about half as many pitches.
  4. Mets have been the beneficiaries of Ball/Strike calls more often than not tonight. I hope Smoker is geared up for multiple innings, but that 24-pitch 1st inning for him doesn't help. Easier just to win the Fucking. Game. Now.
  5. And yet another extra inning game where the EI's don't start until the game is already 3-1/2 hours in.
  6. Whattayasay we win this fucking game, Right. Fucking. Now!?!?!!!
  7. Meanwhile, six more walks (in 7 innings) plus a HBP. If you're going to give up runs, at least make them earn it.

  9. Nice Pill-ing tonight. Gave himself some trouble with the BBs and the opening HBP, but I think all of the hits he gave up except one were pretty soft and/or seeing-eye. His ERA certainly took a plunge and he has a chance to even his career record.
  10. [ArnoldRothstein]"Tell Pill to hit the first batter if the fix is in."[/Rothestein]
  11. Conforto - LF Reyes - 3B Bruce - RF Walker - 2B Duda - 1B Granderson - CF Cabrera - SS d'Arnaud - C Pill - P When we faced Davies in Milwaukee two weeks ago he managed to throw over 100 pitches in 5 innings while giving up 7 hits and was lucky to get away with only four runs scored against him. That he and the Brews later got the win was a tribute to their 8-run bottom of the 5th -- off Gsellman & Robles -- in what I called at the time perhaps the worst pitched baseball game I ever saw.
  12. What would help the team ERA of course would be for some of the individuals to get their personal ERA down from above or near the double digits mark. Maybe an ERA north of 8.00 is the pitcher's equivalent to the 'Mendoza Line' or the dreaded 'Interstate' BA If so then it would be nice to see Mr. Pill, currently at 13.50 thru only 2/3 of an inning, get below that threshold starting tonight. Some of the other '8 and Up' crew may not get their chance anytime soon, or ever: Josh Smoker = 8.00 Rafael Montero = 8.23 Tommy Milone = 10.50 Neil Ramirez = 11.57 Adam Wilk = 12.27 Sean Gilmartin = 13.50 Kevin Plawecki = 18.00 Knocking on the door are Hansel Robles and his inflated 6.23. Robles, btw, 2 outings in Vegas so far, 2 GF including 1 Save, 2 IP, 10 Batters Faced, 2 Hits, 2 BBs, 3 K, 0 Runs Robert Gsellman lowered his to a paltry 5.75 with Monday's outing, while Fernando Salas currently sits at 5.56 btw, with the team ERA now at 4.85, the starting ERA [u:2fh7li3s]AND[/u:2fh7li3s] the Reliever's ERA are both right at 4.85 MLB-wide, the bullpen ERA is about 0.33 R/G below that of the starters, and traditionally that's about a normal split.
  13. I think 'Bitter' is too strong, probably more like frustrated. Not a lot different than Keith really, in fact Keith referenced the 'Strike One' mantra during yesterday's game. Tom doesn't seem to harbor resentments towards the sport of baseball itself, just sometimes with how it's played and more specifically in the trends of modern day pitching.
  14. Their count does go back prior to 1901 and, while admitting that there's some ambiguity, they established a workable definition as to which years and leagues qualify as a 'Major Leaguer' Couldn't find the specifics of what that definition is although I have seen it in the past.
  15. Name: Tyler Pill Met #: 1,031 Now that MLB is heading towards its 20,000th player ever -- currently at 18,998 acc. to BB-Ref -- this means that 5.43% of all ML'ers have been Mets at some point in their careers.
  16. Wonder if this game from Gsellman causes a re-think of their plans for starter vs bullpen? But whether they do or not, it still seems odd and unnecessary that they decided to not only to pre-decide it but also to pre-announce it. You can certainly understand why they'd slot Matz right into the rotation ahead of RG but not so much Lugo.
  17. Really just the one bad AB for Reed. That second single was soft and a GiDP if a few feet one way or the other. He was pretty much dominant after that.
  18. Mr. Reed, we're ready for your close-up.

  20. Harper & Strickland both ejected, but Harper's run came around to score and it's now 3-0 Nats in mid-8th
  21. Oooooh, fists went flying in SF. Didn't see what led up to it, but Harper took one right off the hip from SFG hurler Hunter Strickland. Harper winged his helmet en route to the mound then punches started flying and occasionally landing. More than your typical MLB tussle. The odd part was Posey staying behind the plate before very belatedly coming out.
  22. I think I had seen the coming attractions for this at a movie theatre last year sometimes and thought it maybe had some potential. But of course it's often tough to tell with action movies since you can cut up a trailer to make just about anything look good. If only I had noticed the words, 'Disney Presents' prior to sticking this on my Netflix queue I might have saved those two hours for something productive (though probably not). But man this was lousy: from mediocre CGI storms; to guys who spend hours in wet, ocean, New England storms in February and yet never seem even remotely chilly the entire time; to tepid love stories and vaguely explained back-stories that are supposed to make us care about the characters. And if the execution of it wasn't bad enough, at least the conclusion was totally predictable right down to the fact that you could probably pick out the one guy in the whole picture who dies about a half hour or more before it happens. That BOTH brothers from HELL OR HIGH WATER co-starred here makes me almost want to knock a half-star of my rating of that movie but I can't blame the actors here, Casey Affleck included. The material was just that dull that there was no way for them to overcome it. Strongly worded letter to follow.
  23. And Gsellman rewards Terry twice: with the walk and now with an easy-peasy 7th
