  1. Meat of the order coming up.
  2. What a fuckin' AB!!!! And that's even before you mix in the (very recent) history between those two.
  3. I had forgotten, until they flashed up the graphic earlier and then again just now, that the winner of these dives right back into it on Sunday night. I love this schedule.
  4. Well, we're down to two ABs for the Rays vs just one more for the Yanx. This would be a nice time Tampa-ites.
  5. Two errors tonight from Yanqui infielders. Back in the day, George would be screaming to the commissioner's office that inferior (and biased) groundskeeping was causing his team to lose.

  7. So Whitey had been the oldest living H-o-F'er Might that designation now fall to Willie?
  8. Looks like Aaron mis-Judged his height on that HR
  9. So why, during these quickie manager interviews, is Lauren Shehadi wearing a mask but Boone and Cash not? I think I speak for most guys when I suggest that we'd rather see it the other way around.
  10. It seems like those mid-century Yanqui legends and all-stars either died young [Mantle, Maris, Mercer, Ellie Howard] or lived real long [DiMag, Rizzuto, Ford, Berra]. And if you want to stretch the time out you can throw Ruth & Gehrig into that first group. Or Don Larsen who died at 90 back on New Years Day and whose perfecto was 64 years ago yesterday. I'm sure there are a bunch of in between guys too but of course those don't stand out.
  11. =kcmets post_id=48289 time=1602279421 user_id=53]I imagine there are some stories.
  12. Thursday's game times: * OAK/HOU = 3:43 ATL/MIA = 3:29 * NYY/TBR = 3:14 LAD/SDP = 4:04 Just sayin' * 8-1/2 innings
  13. All of which tells us nothing about his ability to handle CF
  14. Dodgers are batting around in the top of the 3rd, the Pads are on their 3rd pitcher of the inning (Dodgers also on their third) and the game, just now reaching bottom 3, is nearly an hour and a half old. LAD 6 -- SDP 2 and I'm out. There's no way I'm going to get close to the end of this one so I'm not going to try.
  15. So Justin Turner got a hit tonight (RBI single) which made him the all-time leader in post-season hits as a Dodger. OK, so that's not nothing, but we all know that records like those are a result of ever expanding playoffs. Turner, however, was very aware of this before the fact and had barely reached 1st before he was asking for the ball. I found this very odd.
  16. One rule change that escaped my notice is that the limit of five mound visits per game has apparenty been extended to 87 per game for this season.
  17. I certainly think they should consider it and try it in ST ... let's just not talk ourselves into believing that making it work is simply a matter of deciding it will. As far as we know, he's never played any position but SS.
  18. Nimmo is a LF'er. He doesn't have the instincts for CF and not nearly the arm for RF Then the problem with that becomes whether he's a big enough bat that you usually want in LF. Springer is at least an average defensive CF. The problem is he's already 31 y/o (as of a few weeks ago) so how long will he be an asset in CF and how long a contract are you willing to go? Things change a lot of course so just because you sign him for, say 5 years, doesn't mean he's locked in to the middle of the field for that long. So as long as they figure he can handle CF for '21-'22 he should be a consideration.
  19. So the Braves closed things out with a 7-0 win and are now 5-0 in their sweep-sweep 2020 post-season. They won four of their five games by shutout. d'Arnaud had 17 more hits today (2 actually), he hit .600 for the series.
  20. The Yanx will bring Cole back for Game 5 so it would be nice if they could end things tonight. Best case scenario would be if Cole loses Game 5 but that's too risky to root for, so TCoB TBR
  21. I realize that pro athletes aren't like you and I, but these stories of guys 'putting on 15 pounds of muscle' in a short time are total bullseye and/or they need to be investigated. Mostly claims like these are just agent or club hype and those who cover the sport(s) would do themselves a favor by not simply repeating them as if established fact. That said, I had never heard of this Arozarena guy on TB (the latest subject of the above muscle story) prior to the series we played against them a few weeks back and right now he killing it. His latest HR, leading off the 5th, ta-knocked Tanaka out of the game.
  22. Y'know who Homered in this game? ... EVERYONE!!!! More specifically: Altuve, A. Diaz, and Luzardo for Houston (solo, solo, 2R) - so four of their seven runs For Oakland it was: LaStella (Solo), Canha (S), Olson (S), Semien (S), and then the big one, Pinder (3R in the 7th to tie the game) accounting for seven of their nine runs These AL games have been nothing but a HR-a-palooza, starting right from the WC round.
  23. Five pitchers is below average in this post-season.
  24. 2-0 'Lanta is your final ... both in today's game and the series overall. HRs by Swanson and d'Anaud
  25. So the Yanx wound up with just six hits plus four walks while striking out 18 times and allowing seven runs... and right up until the very last out I was convinced those MF'ers were going to win it somehow. The back to back BBs to start the 9th inning didn't do much to settle those fears. Gotta like Kevin Cash & the Rays going to a four OF defense to START the 8th inning and he kept it there the entire time. Figured he had a fly ball pitcher in there so why not. Result: Fly Out, K, Fly Out. First FO was routine, the shift may have made a difference on the other one.
