Yeah, but he gave him the odd scoring of a double plus an error (I guess for failing to pick up the ball cleanly) so the toughest part of McCann's attempt for the cycle remains unchecked. So now it's time for one of the silliest phrases in baseball broadcasting: James McCann is just a triple away from the cycle.
He was somewhat of a prospect with the Yanx for a tear or two. Didn't know about the Walt Williams connection although BBRef lists Mason as grand-nephew to Walt rather than grandson. He's much taller than his uncle but Walt (listed at 5' 6") would have been much taller if he, y'know, had a neck.

Yeah, I don't know where this 'one month for one day' thing comes from. AFAIK, he gets credit for one day of ML service time, gets paid at the ML minimum wage rate for one day (1/182nd of a season) and gets his butt on the ML pension plan.
Oh good, it's been nearly 48 hours since we last had a postponement. The Mets are going to wind up needing to play somewhere around 47 games in September and probably most of them will be more of these Little League Double-Headers.

But what that means is that if they had successfully throw Baez out at 1st the run Baez worked so hard to create wouldn't have counted because of the force out. Baez himself didn't seem to realize that either as his first reaction was to celebrate the run scoring and then only ran as an afterthought hoping for icing on the cake.
I'm surprised SNY hasn't thrown up a picture of big Ted Kluszewski amid all this discussion of sleeveless uniforms.
