  2. #1 overall draft picks with 300 HRs & 1,000 RBI There are seven of them. GO! (before G.P. chimes in with all seven plus the date they hit #300)
  3. - So clawing back 1.5 games off the lead in one day was nice yesterday. Let's see if we can make it two full games tonight as the Braves finish up in LA vs Scherzer Dodgers, btw, now within 0.5 games of SFG - Phils/Nats are also a wash out today - and always fun to note that, following 13 straight wins, the Yanx have now lost 4 in a row. Angels won by one run on Tuesday in part due to Ohtani's steal of home (part of a double steal). Do you know he's tied for 5th in the ML in stolen bases with 26? I didn't. Which reminds me of the time Chin-Mein Wang injured his foot while stepping on home in an IL game sending Hank Steinbrenner into a rant worthy of his father about how pitchers are too delicate to be required to even trot on the base paths. But of course we need the universal DH to prevent such injuries.
  4. =bmfc1 post_id=76129 time=1630459536 user_id=73] Both teams are off on September 27 so why play 2 on the 28th?
  5. I was about to say that, while Lugo isn't broken, he does seem to need a tune-up after some less than stellar outings lately plus a rough start here. But maybe it's just a small sample and the motor is running fine as it is.
  6. Finally watching live after the first 14 innings on delay.
  7. Why would you care what the media asks anyone when your standing position is that they just make up what they report anyway?
  8. I hear Keith using most of these expressions. Of course it's not like Keith makes any cultural references post about 1975 so we shouldn't expect new sports expressions either.
  9. Just finished watching this one via delay* What a fucked up game. *btw, even FF'ing thru commercials and other breaks this slightly shortenedgame took well over three hours to watch Am now watching night game via about a half hour delay because of the length of the first one
  10. So supposing that someone who was on the Marlins, possibly even in the lineup, when this game started is now on the Mets (or verse-vica) ... how would that get handled? Could the Mets use him or would they have to play short-handed (maybe there are several who fit this category)? If they used him he'd appear on both sides of the box score ... that would be weird.
  11. Edgy MD wrote: I don't got nothing against mound visits in general. I'm beginning to despise them and would fully support cutting them back to one per game. Or maybe could be talked into two if I really wanted some other compromise. Strategy can be figured out on the field and doing so would favor the prepared team. And if they can't do that then you can either signal or yell from the dugout. More playing, less yapping. You want to game-plan? ... that's what pre-game is for, that's what practice is for, you've also got nine mid-innings to discuss stuff. You don't like the fact that your pitcher walked the leadoff hitter and now is 2-0 on the next guy? Tough, you brought the guy in, either trust him to get out of his predicament or yank him. Watching the Euros earlier this year there came a point in the game where England was clearly reeling while facing Spain, and there was a similar spot with England v Croatia in the last World Cup, and in both cases I LOVED the fact that nobody on that side could call a time-out, not to 'break the momentum', 're-set their agenda', 'ice the kicker', 'take a breather', 'call a new play', or any of the other expressions that American sports seem to take for granted as part of their games. And, yes, it's not just baseball. Hoops and football are even worse IMO at allowing this sort of thing, I just care less about those sports so don't waste my time yapping about it.
  12. Keith still uses 'hanging curve' or some variation of it: 'Oooh that's a hanger', particularly when watching the replay of a ball that was just tattooed And also 'can of corn' though he frequently gets more specific: 'He got under that one with his upper-cut and that's a can of Del Monte'
  13. McCarver's line was that Gooden's curve was so good that his Uncle Charley should be called Lord Charles instead.
  14. If Baez thought he was getting razzed for K-ing a lot, he ain't heard nuthin' yet now that this story is out.
  15. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=75810 time=1630194408 user_id=68] This quote's for FK: Koosman doesn't watch much baseball these days, preferring golf and football. He said he doesn't have the patience to watch a baseball game any longer. “I was a fast pitcher,” he said. “My games averaged 2:10, 2:15. Today you're in the fourth or fifth inning at that point and it just wears you out. Everyone has gloves and guards they adjust and the pitchers take too long. It's just slow all the way around in most games.”
  16. One of my proposed rule changes is that if a batter gets a hit immediately following a mound visit that team loses mound visit privileges for the next two weeks.
  17. 'And fan pressure is why I swing at every pitch within two feet of the strikezone'
  18. Wayne mentioned this Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/would_it_donghttps://twitter.com/would_it_dong As Villar's HR was a unicorn--it would not have been a HR in any other ballpark. Seems odd that the LCF gap in CitiField would be shorter than Wrigley in the same location, or in Philly for that matter, although some parks, Houston for instance, have higher, even if shallower, walls which would have kept that shot in the park. Don't really care though as that was the most impressive HR of the day IMO despite the greater distance of the Baez or Bell shots.
  19. =bmfc1 post_id=75888 time=1630276095 user_id=73] This week: ATL had 2 off days in a row and SD/LAA have Sunday (today) off.
  20. Edgy MD wrote: The irony, by not counting visits to the mound following the announcement of a pinch hitter, is that it pretty much guarantees there will be a visit to the mound following the announcement of a pinch-hitter. I noticed this, and also mentioned it during an IGT, a couple days ago. And after picking up on the trend, EVERY PH appearance since has triggered a PC visit. Further irony is that twice in the last two days NYM hitters have knocked the first pitch from an incoming reliever over the fence... so maybe these conferences aren't quite as valuable as managers think.
  21. Re: the Addams Famiky discussion, the bigger question is why the stadium feels that the few seconds during a pickoff attempt requires "filler"
