  1. Upon further review, a risky, one-handed tag by McCann that inning. We'd be killing him right now had that popped out of his glove.
  2. Williams is getting hit a bit here, but his defense isn't doing him any favors ... although the Nats baserunners are. HP Ump also not helping his cause.

  4. Think our games the last few days have been a bit nutty, the Cubs/Pirates game on Sunday, eventually won by the Cubs 11-8, featured three come-from-behind Grand Slams including two in the 3rd inning. Bryan Reynolds (PIT) top 3; Matt Duffy (CHC) bottom 3; Frank Schwindel (CHC) bottom 7 19 runs scored in the game, 12 of them coming on three swings. Yanx give up 4 in the 7th to lose to the O's. With three games left in the season series, the Yanx are "only" 9-7 vs Bal'mer when they're used to more like 16-3 or thereabouts. Rays are 18-1 this year. Fifth time the Yanx have lost a game after having a lead of 3 or more runs in the 7th inning or later. Tied for the most in MLB SFG, throwing a 'bullpen game' are up 6-1 on Walker Buehler and the Dodgers in the final game of that season series. The season series is currently tied 9-9 just like the teams are in tied atop the NL West
  5. Soto, I've a feeling we're... Gonna kick your ass
  6. Quick autographs
  7. I always had to tell softball pitchers to back up somewhere (pitchers usually need to be told everything) because, I'd say, 'no runner ever runs to the mound'. Would it have been better had he covered 3rd earlier? Well, as things turned out, no, but that was half luck, half skill so, yeah. My point was that it's not a normal play (although it may become more of one in the shift era) and therefore not something pitchers are likely to expect and/or anticipate.
  8. If the Nats are going to get multiple guys ejected in one day, they should pick better calls to do so. Both heave-hos have been on, at best, borderline B/S calls.
  9. A play like that is so unusual that it's tough to fault a player for not anticipating it. And if he did anticipate it the runner simply would have stayed on 2nd. You may recall a similar play a bunch of years ago with Jeter as the runner trying to "steal" 3rd against a shift. In that play the runner, the ball, and the catcher all arrived at the same time very similar to the Stroman play. The result was Jeter jamming his shoulder when his head-first dive met up with the shin-guard of a sliding catcher. The result was not only an out but a missed six weeks for 'the Captain'. It was Opening Day 2003
  10. The long leadoff HR aside, Megill didn't exactly get smacked all over the field in that inning. The bad news is that it cost him 30 pitches in the process.
  11. Mets up One - Zip Don't ease off until you are up by at least ten.
  12. Mets back to .500 Nats fall behind (by percentage points) the Marlins and into last place in the NLEast And it's 4-3 Rox bottom 8, and they just hot a leadoff double
  13. Fenway too. And while I'd have trouble coming up with a dozen others, there may be a few. I'm also unfamiliar with how accurate these projectios are.
  14. =nymr83 post_id=76530 time=1630723335 user_id=54] i'm confused, how would that be a HR in 16 parks? foul is foul
  15. Aside from royally fucking our bullpen on the eve of a DH, I'm starting to have good thoughts about this game.
  16. =bmfc1 post_id=76527 time=1630722906 user_id=73] Thumbs up for Pillar!

  18. Soto hits one in the corner two feet on the far side of the wall, then catches one two feet on the field side of the wall.

Maybe, although I doubt it. Plus I'm not pulling Nimmo in a 2-run game
  20. Survive and advance. Got the first part ...
  21. A more accurate throw and he's dead at the plate ... or a catch in CF and it's a game-ending DP
  22. The BB to Zimmerman was worse than the Soto HR
  23. I don't overturn this ... but I'm betting they will. oe: Nope
  24. Not the way I would have gone for the 8th, but it worked.
  25. Wouldn't mind seeing Lugo get a 2nd inning if his spot in the order doesn't come up in this half.
