So at what point does a slump become a collapse? I guess the easy answer is 'if it continues', but the team that won nearly 3/4 of their games (.726) in the first half (84 G) has now lost two of every three for over a month now (11-22) and their lead has finally slipped into single-digit range (from a high of 15.5) where not just one but one of three team needs to get hot at the right time in order to make things interesting [TBR -9.0, TOR -10.0, BAL -10.5] Immediately ahead is one more with Tampa today [TBR has won 4-0 & 3-1 the last two nights]. Then if the Blue Jays want to show they can play with the big boys now's their chance because they visit the Bronx for four starting tomorrow which leads right into two with the Mets. By this very hour next week there could be a full blown case of Pinstripe Panic in da Bronx which would be stunning for a team on pace for 118 wins just six weeks earlier.

I'm starting to lose faith in a comeback tonight.

Anthony Rizzo threw a hissy fit in the dugout last night after striking out. But it wasn't the K he was mad about, it was two pitches earlier when the HP Ump refused to award him 1st base after a HBP. I happened to be watching at that point and it was ABSOLUTELY the right call. Not only did he fail to try to move away from the pitch, he clearly stuck his leg into a soft curve. You want to do away with that stuff ... call it more often. I've long thought that's a call not made often enough.

The catcher covering 3rd on that play is common. It was on a similar play a bunch of years ago on Opening Day when a head first sliding Jeter had his shoulder meet a catcher shin guard which earned him the Opening month of the season off. Lindor was headed towards 2nd though he probably shouldn't have been. Actually wasn't a real smart play with two outs and he's scoring from 2nd or 3rd on the subsequent hit so it didn't really matter.

I'm streaming the radio call while i could be watching the TV via cable or via streaming depending on the situation. And I get why they're not perfectly synched in the first place. I just don't get why they get so unsynched between innings.

Right, but as long as the inning continues the two sources don't vary. Then, after the mid-inning break, the two are almost always at different points even though both have been "away" for the exact same amount of time.

What I want to talk about here came up the other night during the Apple game when someone mentioned the quirk of having the radio feed synched up to the TV feed only to find them un-synched when the next half inning starts. I've had the same issue and I can't figure out what's going on. I mean, I hear/see the final out of the inning at the same time, and of course the time from that final out to the first pitch of the next half is the same in each case. But the fact that they're no longer synched can only mean that one or the other are adding to or subtracting from whatever delay they're working with (either that or one side or the other now actually resides in the future). If this is intentional I can't quite figure out the purpose ... unless it's just to annoy me. And if you increase the delay for whatever reason then you have to decrease the next time or else you'll be like 20 minutes behind by the end of the game so, again, what's the point? And this shifting delay happens virtually every time so it's not just an occasional quirk.

This night isn't ending anytime soon.
