  1. And how 'bout those displays of emotion from the normally stoic Mr. Canha? That bat come down yet?
  2. And yet, I remember those seasons when it would be tight towards the wire and Met fans would say, 'Eh, don't worry, we've got those two late series against the Marlins'. How'd those work out?
  3. Both Hal Steinbrenner and GM Brian Cashman were booed during the Paul O'Neill ceremonies.
  4. Just thought I'd point that the Mets just won three of four, from a good team no less, while using Trevor Williams, David Peterson, and Jose Butto (and Chris Bassitt) as starters while using the likes of Sam Clay, Steven Nogosek, Rob Zastrynzy, Jose Butto, and Nate Fisher -- none of whom I had heard of prior to this week -- to cover 30% (10.2 of 36) of the available innings.
  5. =kcmets post_id=104925 time=1661122616 user_id=53] On a bit of a tape delay. Fuckin' OY! Fuckin' BOOKS!
  6. Nevada being admitted as a state was actually a version of Gerrymandering. It wasn't that districts were rigged but the 'Silver State' was WAY short of having the population required for statehood (like 12 people lived there at the time) but Lincoln and the Republicans were SO desperate for electoral votes (and Senators) in advance of the '64 elections that they dispensed with those silly little rules in order to help ensure long, tall Abe a second term.
  7. Very few cliches bothered me more than O'Neill being (constantly) declared "a warrior". Leave the overly macho military cliches to the NFL if you would, huh? It's stupid there too but they specialize in stupid.
  8. A walk to Riley followed by a dribbler through the IF by Olson and this game is not only tied but its destined to become un-tied any moment now. Bases loaded, no outs.
  9. Houston scores one in top 11, but it's 3-4-5 for Braves starting with the Manfred Man on 2nd
  10. Acuna K's Swanson up ... flies to CF and they're headed to the 11th If it gets to the 12th I think they go to a shootout Either that or penalty kicks.
  11. Hector Neris, phormer Phil on the mound (I probably should have mentioned that) ... and we're tied. Still one out. Top of the Atlanta order, meaning Acuna.
  12. One out, ghost runner still on 2nd, Harris up Harris doubles, run scores, 3-2 game, tying run on 2nd, Grossman up
  13. Astros scored twice in top 10 to take a 3-1 lead. Bottom of the lineup for Atlant but they have the best bottom of the order in MLB
  14. Didn't we have a 7 run comeback against these chumps?
  15. I don't think Canha half-assed so much as he got a bounce he wasn't expecting. But, yeah, it should have been a one or two base error. It's been a long day. They're going to extras in Georgia. Dylan Lee pitching for Braves.

  17. Nuthins' going right.
  18. I had a premonition about this guy last week. Or maybe I just saw his name during the eye exam I took.
  19. So if the Phils are challenging BOTH the calls at 2nd and at 1st, shouldn't the non-reversal at 2nd be their one challenge therefore negating their challenge at 1st? The answer is, yes it should.
  20. The alternate FOX game is headed to the bottom of the 8th with the Astros and Braves tied one-one.
  21. The Hot Corner wrote: Nogosek getting [CROSSOUT]no[/CROSSOUT] delayed help from his defense this inning.
  22. Nogosek says No Go to more Philly runs.
  23. If they blow the lead they had (15.5 G) his cool isn't going to be the only thing Boone loses.
  24. Lefty Specialist wrote: Peterson faltering, while Falter seems to be non-faltering. Yeah, but he'll peter out soon.
