  1. A calculation where you give both the Mets and Braves a 60% chance at winning each of their games in the final series figures to give the Mets about a 1.4% shot at pulling out the division. A calculation based on watching this team over the last couple games gives them about a 1.4% chance of scoring more than 5 runs combined in the upcoming series.
  2. It hardly matters at this point because I'm it sure they'll win a game vz the Nats anyway.
  3. No sense in getting a ball out of the infield now.
  4. Not only have Swanson & Olson out-HR'd the entire Mets team but their HRs have out-XBH the entire Mets team. Mets have FOUR XBHs in this series, one 2B plus 3 HRs with the HRs being all solo.
  5. We've moved way beyond 'Sorry' and have gone straight to 'Pathetic'.
  6. Willets Point wrote: Willets Point wrote: ESPN sharing racist rituals with the world. A good lead up to the racist anti-Abrams ad. But instead it's a pro Abrams ad.
  7. Remember also that the Braves are TdA's third team after leaving the Mets. The Dodgers and Rays weren't real impressed either.
  8. Script: Act I: Get lots of baserunners early Act II: Cash in as few of them as possible Act III: Flat-line for innings 3 thru 9
  9. Edgy MD wrote: If two Braves are going to homer in all three games, I question things. Question what, that Riley and Acuna didn't do it too?
  10. TWO of the Mets 18 outs tonight have been in the OF [Lindor 1st inning FO to RF, Alonso's deep FO, also to Acuna] Everything else is K's, IF Pop outs, and (mostly weak) grounders.
  11. I'll give ESPN this: not only have they put aside their split-screen/live-mic/let's-do-anything-but-show-the-game antics, but they've even shelved the constant crawl for the night. Usually the crawl only disappears during games they care about while sports like baseball are treated as fodder for them to advertise what else is going on, particularly if it's going to be on their network. It's like, for one night only, they elevated MLB to major league status and are therefore sparing us the WNBA scores, college football injury reports, latest Tom/Giselle marriage rumors, and all the other tripe that we specifically tuned in NOT to see. Watching a game on a full screen ... what a concept!!
  12. Take a lead and have runners on 1st & 3rd w/none outs ... followed by six straight batters being retired without a ball leaving the infield.
  13. Mets trying to end their inning in < 10 pitches.
  14. They don't miss their opportunities. We miss ALL of ours.
  15. So following the Vogel single they had a walk + 8 hits which included 2 HRs and had made only six outs. It's almost impossible to NOT have more than three runs by that point but not only did they have just three but given three more ABs to add to it and they STILL have just three out of all that. I mean, I like having a lead and all but, man, they're leaving tons of shit out there.
  16. Stick that in your 'Chop House' and smoke it!
  17. Two innings, four hits including a HR, 1 BB ... and the result is the bare minimum of one run.
  18. Have the Mets hit three balls in this series as hard as the last three ATL hitters did in the top of the 1st?
  19. I'm getting tired of trying to be OK with leaving runners on in the 1st inning via the justification of 'well at least we made their guy throw a lot of pitches ... and maybe that'll pay dividends later on'. Too often it hasn't been paying off.
  20. He's getting close ... To what? and he's clean! ... as far as we know
  21. So this us essentially the biggest regular season game for any team this year and ESPN is fortunate enough to have it land in their lap. So given that gift of being able to present this game to the entire country, what percentage of the game will they show with game shrunken via split screens or other interruptions? 40 - 60% ? 60 - 80% ? More than 80% ? Sorry, those are your only choices.
  22. As I suspected was the case, this thread was started in the aftermath of winning 4 of 5 from the Braves in early August. The problem is that, since then, we've lost 5 of 6 head to head.
  23. I wouldn't pitch him either.
  24. So it basically all comes down to tomorrow, the third in a row of 'most important game of the season'. If the Braves win it's essentially over. But if the Mets win the advantage falls back to us, although to a lesser extreme.
