  1. It's bad enough that the first HR in a back-to-back was solo, but does the second one have to be solo too?!? Why does that always seem to happen to us?
  2. Four batters, one walk, one hit, four outs. Is anything more Joon-ish than that?
  3. Hey, not just a scoreless 1st (a rarity by itself) but an efficient one too!
  4. There were a whole bushel of asterisk'd no-hitters plus a couple perfects which is why MLB culled all which didn't meet certain criteria most notably that it has to be a full 9 innings and the pitcher needs to get the W (not all no-nos result in a win).
  5. I was, of course, kidding about the asterisk thing. I think I first used that joke in 1981 when Len Barker threw a perfecto against the Blue Jays who were hitting about. 215 as a team at the time.
  6. If you throw a perfect game but it comes against the 2023 Oakland A's ... does it go into the record books with an asterisk?
  7. 7-17 with just a -8 Run Differential for June.
  8. Third time tonight that Pete's been jammed. This last one was merely the most blatant.
  9. So Gary & Keith are talking about 'getting momentum' with Scherzer, but right now it's looking like needing a good outing by Max just to gain a series split with a .500 team.
  10. Two outs/no one on and it results in two more runs (and counting) while we fuck up yet another bases-loaded/no out situation. The bad call didn't help, but neither did two hits, a BB, and an HBP.
  11. Yeah, remember it was Jim who got down and dirty with the animals most often. Or, as the Johnny Carson (somewhat exaggerated) imitation had it: Marlon: "So while Jim wrestles with the alligator down in the swamp, I'll be back here in the tent sipping Margaritas with Inga"

  13. I'd go with a Kv designation if scoring. Also, it just occurred to me that a pitcher could have a better than immaculate inning, one where he retires the side on Less Than 9 pitches with help from a time clock transgression.
  14. Perkins in RF ran that Mendick shot down like a gazelle on 'Wild Kingdom'
  15. Not a bad five innings ... but it took him seven innings worth of pitches to get there.
  16. Senga can really be a chore to watch.
  17. Mets Baseball: It's Phamtastic!
  18. Braves won again this afternoon giving them a three game sweep over the Twinkies and boosting them to 20-4 for the month (a Joon Boon!). They didn't hit their usual quota of six 1st inning HRs today. Instead they threw out a starter who hadn't pitched in two seasons so naturally they won via a 3-0 shutout. Twins scored just 3 runs in the whole series in large part due to going Oh-fer-23 w/RiSP!!!!!!

  20. Lord kiss me one time, fill me with song!
  21. Five run lead, three outs to get. We've got at least a 37% chance of winning this one!
  22. And remember, don't take Strezlecki if you're allergic to Strezlecki
  23. I have no problem with Pete sneaking the occasional SB, but he's got to be the worst slider in OB (organized baseball for you non-BALL FOUR readers). I fear he's going to fuck up his shoulder, hand, wrist, or face each time he goes into head-first mode.
  24. Pitching, hitting AND defense?!? That oft used line from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid comes to mind; 'Who are those guys?'
