  1. I think we've got another run in us tonight ... but only if this game goes 17 innings.
  2. Wow, Pete hasn't fouled out to 1st since .... oh wait, it was his last AB.

  4. I was just about to say that Pete's error opening the door to blowing the lead would be the Jooniest thing ever.

  6. Frayed Knot wrote: 5-0 The Braves pitched Mike Soroka who was just recalled and he ran into early trouble and it was quickly 5-3 Then I checked back and it was 7-3 Now it's 14-3. Still just the 6th inning. Matt Olson has 2 HRs, a triple and a single. I wonder if anyone's going to ask him why he didn't stop at 2nd on one of the homers so he could notch a cycle.
  7. They were under .500 for a four season span from 2014-17 after they abruptly switched gears and dumped a bunch of long term contract guys they had only recently signed. Then, within a short time, all they did was bring up Acuna, Albies, Freeman, Riley, Fried, Soroka, etc. and traded for several others (Swanson)
  8. Aah, my guess was going to be a sit-com character.
  9. Quick question here: Who is Johnny Lawrence?
  10. I'd be steamed if that call went against us ... but Sabol in LF shouldn't be stopping by calling the pkay himself. Play first, ask later. That said, that this is reviewable is absurd.
  11. Unlike the previous drive, I knew that one had enough to get out having seen enough Wilmer shots over the years which always seem to stay up forever.
  12. Miami in Atlanta for the weekend. Braves first time through their lineup only resulted in five runs today. 5-0
  13. What could be more Joon Swoon than the top 2nd there? - miss the inning ending GIDP by about 4 inches - then go two-out H -- RBI H -- BB ... before finally getting out of it
  14. Yes there's a game today. I thought it might be canceled due to a lack of interest but apparently they've going to make 'em play it. Giants are a weird team. They stumbled after those trio of championships and wrung up losing seasons from 2017 thru 2020 (hey, it happens). But they then followed that with a stunning 107-win season in 2021 (albeit w/playoff failure) only to plummet back to 81-81 last year. This year they again looked mediocre at best in April (11-16) but have gone 34-20 since including 17-8 in June while of course we're heading in the opposite direction. Mets split a four game series out there in April you may recall (NYM won first two, SFG the final pair) but that was before we decided to vie for worst team in baseball honors. Alex Cobb [RH, 5-2, 3.09, 1.37] in 14 starts (is just coming off the IL) faces Carlos Carrasco [less good numbers] JD Davis likely to play, Michael Conforto more iffy. I think this is my first IGT of the season and my overall record with the IGTs at the CPF is approximately 4 - 167 (unofficial total) so have a discussion among yourselves as to who starts tomorrow's thread cuz it's unlikely to be me.
  15. I never for one second thought they'd tie that game much less win it. This is THE most pathetic stretch of baseball I've ever seen.
  16. And we're all set up for the game-ending GiDP
  17. Our best AB in the last 3 innings resulted in a foul ball.
  18. So we have as many dropped pop-ups tonight as runs scored.
  19. During the 23 games of 'The Swoon' the Mets have scored 20 runs from the 7th inning on. That by itself suxx enough (< 1 R avg = < 3/G) But wait, it gets worse: 14 of those 20 runs came in just three games, games that were already lopsided one way or the other! So late in close games, the Mets are scoring at a rate that would net them barely one run per game.
  20. So we've got nearly an infield hit, then an infield hit, then a HBP. So despite not a single ball hit over 30mph this inning, is there ANY chance the Brewers cone out of this inning with less than 3 additional runs tacked on? Reverse the teams and we'd GiDP on the first pitch. And now ANOTHER infield hit!!!!
  21. Tie game in the 6th ... which means our win pct for this game just fell to 3%
  22. Considering the atmospheric conditions over maye 1/3 of MLB ballparks now and in recent weeks, do you suppose any of them have thought about nixing the in-stadium fireworks after each home HR (or, in the case of Atlanta, after each strikeout by the home hurler)?
