  1. The play was in front of the runner, he's making (or at least should be) his own go/stop decision there. He made the right call.
  2. If he tries for 3rd there he's out by 25 ft
  3. In the six slots in today's two-team matchups, not a single player comes to mind for any of them.
  4. I thought that was going to be a triple play.
  5. I'm surprised that the PR, LoCastro as it turns out, didn't beat Vogelbach to 1st

And now that I think about it, all three NYM hits tonight have been to CF [McNeil dropped a single in front of him, Lindor's 2B towards LCF, Vogey's HR] and for all three i was convinced Harris was going to glove each.
  7. The most surprising thing about that Vogey HR is that Harris didn't catch it.
  8. Seems like an odd spot to remove Elder: 90 pitches, two hits, shutout, 3 run lead, etc. One might even call it Elder abuse.
  9. This game seems to be moving at a snail's pace, and then i see it's on track for slightly over 3 hours. iow, this would be a quicker than average game if played during the last decade or so.

  11. Biggest hit of the game: Lindor's 3R HR Best AB of the game: Vogelbach's 2 RBI 2B (was down 0-2 in the count)
  12. Braves 25-7 vs NL East this season coming into tonight.
  13. Well at least Ottavino starts the inning with a free pass, so That bolsters my Kahnfidence not at all.

  15. There are three 2015 1st round picks on the field tonight. #18 - Phil Bickford (SFG) #25 - D.J. Stewart (BAL) #41 - Austin Riley (ATL) Also on the rosters now or recently: #23 - 2022 NYM Nick Plummer (StL) #28 - Injured/minors ATL Mike Soroka Plummer, btw, seems to be out of O.B. as there's no 2023 line for him on BB-Ref
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Getting through the bottom of the inning cleanly with Peterson would be ideal. It'll either be ideal or an ordeal.
  17. When Vogelbach is on 2nd base is he, like Schroedinger's cat, half in (only in the case of 3Bs or HRs) and half not in (1Bs & 2Bs) scoring position?
  18. Not to be a Debbie Downer here, but in the early June series in Atlanta the Mets were up by: * 3 runs in the 6th inning of Game 1 ... and lost * 3 runs in the 5th inning of G2 ... and lost * 3 runs in the 3rd inning and later 4 runs in the 6th inning of G3 ... and lost
  19. Ozzie Albies in newly on the IL so I see they called up Vaughn Grissom who played part of last season and hit .400 for a while following his call-up. They've also been using trade deadline pickup Nicky Lopez who was OPS'ing 600 (both this season and for his career) as a KCR but over 1000 during his short stint w/ATL
  20. I got two today-- Straw as LAD/SFG plus a wild-ass guess on Toby Harrah -- and then gave up. If I stared at that grid for a week or two longer i might have gotten one or two more ... but I doubt it.
  21. I'm OK with that send. You wouldn't do that in the 9th but 'stealing' an extra run there vs hoping for another two-out hit is a worthwhile gamble, IMO, and he's likely safe on anything other than a perfect throw.
  22. Yanx give up a run in top 9 to go down 6-5 They get the first two runners on to start bottom 9 [2B, HBP] but go out K, K, FO 8th straight loss Just minutes earlier, the Braves also gave up a tie-breaking run in top 9 [bases loaded walk] then went out 1-2-3
  23. btw, Gary said '62 Candles' for Ronnie earlier in the game. Except that he turned 63 yesterday.
