  1. Francisco Alvarez paints "crosses" under each eye as eyeblack To break a slump he could go to a Kiss makeup eyeblack theme for luck Or, y'know, stop worrying about his fashion choices and concentrate on not swinging at sliders in the lefthand batters box instead.
  2. =kcmets post_id=168630 time=1725409437 user_id=53] =ashie62 post_id=168623 time=1725409094 user_id=90] Nimmo shoulda had that
  3. The Mets have hit 18 3R HRs this Y-T-D
  4. =Fman99 post_id=168520 time=1725327235 user_id=86] BOOOOKS Love this team. Pick up a half game on idle Atlanta
  5. Phil definitely was an Auto-Maton tonight.
  6. Did youse guyz hear the stat Gary mentioned earlier about how Willy Adames of Milwaukee hit his 13th 3R HR of the season? He said it tied an ML record set by Ken Griffey Jr. in 1996. Except that Grif hit 49 that season. Today was Adames's 29th. So nearly half his HRs this year (44.8%) have been with two men on, right around 4x the league wide average (11.2%) He's got as many or more 3R HRs than seven teams do this year. I mean, I know the Brewers get their fair share of baserunners, but that's crazy!!
  7. Danny Young: 'I've been sent by my government to strike out Jarren Duran'
  8. 3 - 0 Padres is your final.

Then they have an off day tomorrow, before finishing the series Wednesday and Thursday. Not the usual scheduling one usually sees in the middle of the season. That's weird. They must have something scheduled at Petco tomorrow (tractor pull? Phish concert? [CROSSOUT]Billy Graham crusade?[/CROSSOUT]) cuz I can't fathom any other reason for splitting up the games that way.

  11. btw, this game is on MLBN for those who can't see the game otherwise.
  12. NYM OF's are one-for-three in diving catch attempts: .333
  13. Connor Wong, halfway to Joe Torre
  14. BB-Ref lists this Casas guy at 6' 5" (1B man) but he looks about 6' 13"
  15. I didn't like infield-in in that situation even before the hit. But with the out at 2nd it becomes the same result either way.
  16. That inning could have been better, but also could have been worse. Bunch of hard hit balls though.
  17. I mentioned this a month or two back, but to me this is the most anonymous Red Sox team in decades. I barely know anyone.
  18. Dodgers just turned their lead over the DBacks into a rout. 10-3 ... whoops 11, still batting top 8. FFF has two HRs Brewers beat StL earlier Orioles routed the ChiSox
  19. Darren Baker debuted with a pinch-hit 9th inning single on the first, and so far only, ML pitch he saw. No word as to whether someone picked him up by the scruff of the neck right afterward. If only the Nats could have brought him (and the following twelve guys behind him) in to score they would have tied the game. But, alas, the next dude hit in a game-ending GiDP as the Cubs edged Washington 14-1 Sunday's Nats game was also the ML debut for pitcher Zach Brzykcy (BRICK-see). His outing wasn't nearly as successful as Baker's but hopefully he can bring his career ERA down below 67.50 sometime soon. In the meantime maybe some enterprising Washingtonian will scan EBAY to see if a Twins fan has a slightly used 'Buy A Vowel' banner left over from the Kent Hrbek days.
  20. Several holiday afternoon games of note will proceed ours on this Labor Day Cards @ Brewers (2:10 EDT) Dodgers @ Diamondbacks (4:10) for the final game of their four-game wrap-around series Astros @ Reds (4:10) Tigers @ Padres (6:40) and also Pirates @ the suddenly hot Cubs (7:40) Phils and Braves both off today following their 11 inning Sunday game affair (eight teams have today blank). Starting Tuesday the Phils will be in Toronto while the Braves will host the Rockies
  21. ... love was changin' the minds of pretenders. While chasin' the clouds away It would help if we could make some hay vs Boston (Sept 2nd, 3rd, 4th), Reds (x 3), and Jays (x3) because, after that, we get Phillies (x3) Nationals (x3), Phillies (x4), Braves (x3), and Brewers (x3) to close out the season.

And even though either outcome can be good for you, if you've got to root for one, root for the team closest to you to lose. Check. Yeah, it's easy sometimes to forget/miscalculate who to root for. But Phils winning in this series is good for us.
  23. And as I'm watching that 11th inning play out, I'm listening to 'Wichita Lineman' on the radio .. so it doesn't get much better than that.
  24. Castellanos singles ... Phils win!! One game out of WC
  25. Harper Almost hits into a DP ... 1st & 3rd, two outs.
