  1. I don't believe he's signed for next year that really doesn't matter since he's not yet a 6-year player and is therefore under NYM control if they want to keep him.
  2. Kid, it just wasn't your night.

If you find one let me know. ]By the way, I REALLY miss Chad Bradford. Bradford - 60 hits in 52 IPs Schoeneweis - 45 hits in 45.2 IPs I don't miss him too much.
  5. We can blame Schoeneweis all we want folks, but this game's on Maine. Too many 2 out/2 strike hits, couldn't put away hitters when needed, high pitch counts in every inning, yadda, yadda. His line's going to wind up looking better than it should as those last 3 runs were unearned on account of the Conine error but that ball was smoked. Schoeneweis, meanwhile, gave up 1 hard hit single and two cheap IF grounders.
  6. Doubtful is a nice way of putting it. Duaner hasn't pitched at all in competition and, even if he were suddenly ready to start, the minor leagues are ending in about a week so he's not going to get a chance to work up to a return. iow, see ya in February
  7. BB2N concluded their per-team HR list with a Top-ten most important HRs of all time. 10 - Bucky Bleeping Dent; 1 game playoff 1978 9 - Aaron Bleeping Boone, Game 7 extra innings 2003 ALCS 8 - Kirby Puckett, Game 6 Walk-off 1991 7 - Joe Carter, World Series winner 1993 6 - Barry Bonds #756 5 - Bobby Thomson, NL playoff 1951 4 - Kirk Gibson, Game 1 WS winner 1988 3 - Hank Aaron # 715 2 - Roger Maris #61, 1961 1 - Bill Mazeroski, Game 7 9th inning World Series winner 1961 btw, there have been an estimated 240,000 HRs hit in MLB history. I assume that's a number that starts in 1901
  8. Messed up game so far; both teams should have more runs, esp the Dodgers that inning even though they only hit one ball hard. Bad trip around the bases for Kemp
  9. Weird game when Pierre can't bunt and Wells does.
  10. My take on Milledge/Alomar: - Sandy waiving him in as he approaches 3rd - Lastings sees that and puts his head down to chug harder right as Sandy puts up the stop sign - by the time he picks him up again ... well, it was just too fucking late. Making outs on the basepaths suxx
  11. A skinny pitcher vs a fat one Furcal - SS Pierre - CF Kemp - RF Kent - 2B Ethier - LF Hillenbrand - 3B Loney - 1B Lieberthal - C Wells - P Reyes - SS Milledge - RF Wright - 3B Beltran - CF Alou - LF Conine - 1B Gotay - 2B DiFelice - C Maine - P

Granderson's a fun, exciting player in the Reyes mold - although that home park of his does help him out in the triple/I-t-P HR department. Still, 21 3Bs with 33 games still to go isn't easy no matter where you play. * Braves lost. * BoSox cumulative score for their 4-game sweep of the ChiSox = 46-7
  13. Tiggers Win! Cards 4 - Braves 1; 6th inning
  14. Philly up by several touchdowns against SD Cards on the board in the 5th, now 3-0 Tigers holding on the a 5-4 lead in the 8th vs Yanx.
  15. I don't remember a specific "incident" that caused him being sent away, nor even that there was one. Rico had been injured during 1996 (back issues IIRC) sitting out the last half of that final season and neither that year or the prior one (his only full season in NY) were a match for that first partial one in '94. I just remember the trade as an attempt to shore up the bullpen. They actually dealt him to Philly a month prior to trading for Olerud so those two weren't directly related. * and, on that note, I become '96 Met Todd Hundley
  16. ]Not even did I not get a reply, but the Mets kept pitching Shannon up and/ or outside, ahd he kept hitting well against them. Don't feel bad. Herman Melville wrote Moby Dick and he never wrote back either.
  17. OHernandez - 4.0 Wright - 1.7 Delgado - 1.0 Heilman - 0.9 Conine - 0.8 Feliciano - 0.3 Beltran - 1.0 Alomar - 0.3
  18. Open book - insert game - close book.
  19. "Radio team couldn't make enough of Wagner not being up in the ninth" TV crew - sideline reporter Ken Rosenthal specifically - reported that Wagner feels spent from the last few outings and is getting the day off. So it's backup closer Aaron Heilman to the rescue.
  20. Even when Delgado isn't hitting he retains the best post-GiDP fist-pump in the league.
  21. Well that was ugly.
  22. And just as I was about to say some really nice things about El Duque, the Dodgers go back-to-back on him. Looks like it's gonna be another nail-biter.
  23. ]Done. How'd I sound? Wow! A profanity-laced school song! Must have been a great party school. We have an even newer member who just registered under the name of '_____-' I wonder if we can call him '___-' for short?
  24. TheOldMole wrote: Is Castillo a rent-a-player, or part of the Mets' future? To be determined. I don't think mgmt is sold one way or the other yet. Personally, I'm less sold on him as a long-term solution than I am simply a good fit for the situation right now. He's still the worst slugger in MLB. ]Why is everyone so sure LoDuca is not coming back? There was that one NY Daily News article suggesting that mgmt views him with less than enamored eyes. He also isn't young, isn't cheap, and, oh yeah, isn't hitting.
  25. Amazing how often the 'runners-on/two-out' situations seem to occur when the slumpy guy's slot is due up. That spot's been following Delgado around for days now - and he finally comes through.
