  1. Ugly infield single but I'll take it. Nice read by Tatis both times. That Feliz is a pretty good 3rd baseman. I didn't see much of him when he was out on the west coast
  2. The BoSox let one get away today. They were losing 2-0 to the Yanx most of the game and had to face Mariano in the 9th. But Rivera started single - HBP - single - HBP ... so a run was in, the bases loaded, and no one out And then they promptly went K, Pop-out, K and lost 2-1 A loss there would have really kicked the Yanx' butts. 8 HBPs in that game to tie a MLB record -- and none of them even seemed intentional
  3. I'm now as confused about the lineup switches tonight as I was last night.
  4. Sorry, I promised it to Brian.
  5. My kingdom for a fuckin' hit!
  6. We now have scored 6 runs in the last two nights: - on a groundout (when Reyes beat out a GiDP) - on a bases-loaded walk - on a GiDP - on an error - on a hit (Easley's single) - and now on a WP That's some offense!!!!
  7. PH-ing here for Castro makes more sense than last night as it lessens the GiDP chance. Gotta PH for Aguila too. Time for Marlon to earn his keep here.
  8. This is really getting annoying with these two teams: we never get a clutch hit and they never fail to get a clutch hit -- that bullpen chart they threw up there a few minutes ago said it all. Somehow we beat them 4 of 6 early in the season but that was so long ago I no longer believe it actually happened. And now we have a chance to either confirm or disprove my little theory.

  10. from the FWIW department; Ed Coleman on FAN claims that the Keith/Jose discussion "wasn't even close" to coming to blows despite what the NYPost writer claims.
  11. Santana - 5.0 Reyes - 0.25 Wright - 0.25 Easley - 0.25 Castro - 0.25
  12. Game of the Day Rockies, down 13-4 to the Marlins after 3-1/2 innings, score 1 in the 4th, 4 in the 5th, 3 in the 6th, 4 in the 7th, then 2 in the 9th to pull out an 18-17 squeaker. Two team totals: 35 runs, 43 hits, 8 HRs (6 by Colorado), 11 BBs Runs were scored in 12 of the 18 half-innings. The starters were responsible for 16 runs combined (but only 15 earned) 8 Marlin pitchers were used - 7 for one inning or less. They faced 51 Colorado batters and recorded 24 outs. 5 were charged with runs, 3 "earned" a 'Hold'. Closer Kevin Gregg faced 5 batters and retired none. 6 Rockies pitchers were used - facing 56 Marlin hitters in order to log 27 outs with no one pitcher recording more than 6. Game Time = 3:59 ... or about that of a 3-2 Yanqui-Boston game
  13. All 3 runs given up w/2 outs.
  14. Zvon wrote: And we are having Sanchez bat 9th and leading off next inning? Not Schneider? I assume Schneider is hitting 9th (ergo: leadoff) and the pitcher in the 8-slot, but no one has said.
  15. These games are tough to win on the road. Once you don't score in the top half of the inning you know you have to: Hold them - score - then hold them again. If you're at home all you have to do is score. It's mentally draining.
  16. Still nothing out of the infield since there were no outs in the 4th.
  17. This'll most likely be Santana's last inning (due up 4th in top 9) so he better make it a good one.
  18. Endy gets the first hit in 4 innings - but Castro's 4th inning 2B is still the last ball we hit out of the infield.
  19. If the two managers have to work real hard in this series will that be the definition of Manua/el labor?
  20. From the 'Something you don't see everyday' file: With 2-on and 2-out, Kevin Youkilis drives one deep to left. Damon jumps up at the wall and seems to snag it, but the ball pops out of his glove and comes to a rest on top of the fence. After balancing up there on the shaking wall for 3 seconds or so, the ball rolls off on the field side almost landing on Damon's head as he lays crumpled on the warning track. Damon had no clue where it was until it fell. CFer Melky saw it balancing up there but was too far away do anything but yell and point. Youkilis wound up getting himself a 2-RBI triple out of it all while Damon gets an early exit and an MRI on his left shoulder. 6-3 Boston thru 7, now in a rain delay
  21. Pelfrey - 5.0 Reyes - 2.0 Delgado - 2.0 Chavez - 0.5 Easley - 0.5
  22. Of course it's not really Manual's job to keep on top of that. Now if OMAR gives you the same answer ...
  23. I'll confess to never having heard of this writer until last week. Has he been following the team the whole year or is this a recent thing? Not that it would negate his reporting either way, I just wonder if he's there to intentionally stir up the pot - especially in light of his reaction to the reaction to his Manual/fans story. Anyway, now that this is 'out in the open' I suspect it's something Keith will feel the need to address tonight even if just to say; 'yeah we talked but the details of the story are wrong and/or overblown'. A suprising number of early AM talk-radio callers (on w/the very non-confrontational Richard Neer) are taking the; 'Reyes is a puck, a thug, and a cancer - get rid of his immediately' tact.
