  2. Walker Beuhler, on one day rest and a one run lead, on for the save.
  3. =Centerfield post_id=177906 time=1730345358 user_id=65] Three outs to go.
  4. NY Post: The [CROSSOUT]Bombers fan[/CROSSOUT] asshole said he had familiarity with Yankees security because “peasant” sitting behind him have frequently complained about him standing up in front of them and cheering during the games. So, iow, you're an asshole TO Yanqui fans[/i] too? [CROSSOUT]Capobianco[/CROSSOUT] Asshole went to Billy's near Yankee Stadium after the ejection and said he spent the rest of the night “slamming drinks.” So you don't plan on Ever growing up, do you?
  5. Quit begging Boone. ... and the Dodgers have their first lead of the game with two outs in the top of the 8th
  6. Let's recap that top half of the 5th inning: K. Hernandez - single to RF (1st LAD hit of the game) T. Edman - E Judge W. Smith - E Volpe G. Lux - K S. Ohtani - K M. Betts - IF 1B but really a G. Cole brain fart (5-1) F. Freeman - 2 RBI 1B (5-3) T. Hernandez - 2 RBI 2B (5-5) M. Muncy - BB K. Hernandez - FC And a shit load of pitches from Cole
  7. Can't say I saw THAT coming. 'specially not after those consecutive Ks
  8. 2024 Mets and games missed: Position players Francisco Alvarez - 45 games (longest stretch of consecutive games missed) McNeil - the final 20 Starling Marte - 48 Pitching: Kodai Senga - effectively the entire season David Peterson - the first 54 games (1/3) of the season Christian Scott - the final 64 Sean Reid-Foley - the final 79, so half a season Denial Nunez - 29, then one appearance, then the final 32 Drew Smith - 86, so the second half plus a few Brooks Raley - 143, last appeared in Game #19 Tough to know where that stands on the 'luck' scale. Probably better than most on the position player side, though >1/4 season by the starting catcher isn't nothing. The deal deal on the pitching side obviously is Senga. When the presumptive #1 misses effectively the entire year it blows a big hole in plans. The only other starters who lost time weren't assured of rotation spots but they were the top young guns whose job it was to help cover the Senga hole. Instead they barely over-lapped. Relievers, unless it's something like the stature of Diaz '23, are going to be smaller holes virtually by definition. But when it's four guys all with lengthy IL stays they if effect combine to create one large hold rather than four small ones.
  9. And to repeat, the ball is already in Mookie's glove by this time. Someone who knows how to do such stuff needs to make a meme of that shot and pepper their overly macho quotes around it: - we're gonna 'D' it up - it's our job to protect our territory - anything for the team The French 'Maginot Line' provided better defense.
  10. "If it's in our area, we're gonna 'D' it up" Except, wannabe tough guy, you had ample opportunity to do that and you failed miserably. Sitting even in the first row in that area* you're several feet higher than the field making you considerably 'taller' than the RF'er even if that fielder happens to be named Judge. What you do in that situation is get as tall as you can (stand on a seat if necessary) and catch, or even just touch, the ball as it comes down prior to the RF having any shot at it. As long as you make contract with the orb on the fan side of a line extending up from the wall it's a foul ball meaning you prevented your team from making an out AND you get to watch the remainder of the game from your seat AND it's all perfectly legal. But since you sucked at your stated mission, one he claims they talk about "all the time" in that section (they're season ticket holders remember) you made no attempt at the ball, or at best a lame attempt, (afraid you might jam a pinkie?) until it had already settled in the glove of the 5' 9" Betts. You then proceeded to try and wrest the ball away while you held Mookie's glove and even there you only succeeded because your buddy held his other hand at the same time. By then even the RF ump -- y'know, those extras umps who seem to get more calls wrong every post-season than they do right (I'm convinced that the continued use of the 5th & 6th umps is strictly now a union thing and MLB would dump the whole concept otherwise) -- knew what had happened because I've seen six year olds get a stuffed bunny out of one of those rigged claw machines faster than you got the ball out and even then, just like Jefferey Maier, you dropped it meaning you twice! failed to do what you claim you set out to do. And at least Maier's act helped his team. Now granted that was only due to incompetence from one of those aforementioned extras umps but his attempted theft was better than yours and he was like 8 years old! That two guys teaming up on a player during an active play are only missing one game and even then only because MLB intervened (the Yanx first announced they would be welcomed back for Game 5) is beyond pathetic. * I actually sat in almost that exact spot (or actually the equivalent spot in YSII) and had Reggie Jackson steaming right towards me as he chased a pop fly. This one wound up coming down several feet fair and Reggie made a very nice running catch of it while grinding to a halt just short of the wall which was impressive on two levels 1) that Reggie was no GG fielder on his best day, and 2) it was a Old-Timers game so he wasn't a spring chicken either. I don't remember the specific year, some time in the '90s. And one of the guys a seat or two to the side of me wound up in the background of a picture of the catch that appeared in one of the papers the next day.
  11. One can only imagine what would happen to these guys if they did something Really bad ... like trying to go to the bathroom during the 7th inning playing of GBA. Both are season ticket holders.
  12. I'm beginning to think the Dodgers aren't going to pull this one out.
  13. LAD will have the lower part of the lineup due up in the 9th [6-7-8] so will need a few runners on to get the big boys up.
  14. =Centerfield post_id=177818 time=1730251016 user_id=65] Also. You can't let them win on a night those asshole fans pull that move.
  15. Only the second hit by the Yanx but 3 BBs [now 4] and a HBP [almost two] have given them shots to score in every inning.
  16. More bad Yanqui base running costs them a run most likely.
  17. The Hot Corner wrote: That is the most blatant example of fan interference that I can recall ever seeing. The guy and his buddy were trying to argue with the umps (like the umps were going to listen to a fan) that the ball was on their side of the sidewall and therefore not interference. Except they were ignoring the part about how it was already in Mookie's glove and he was trying to wrestle it out so whether it was on one side or the other was totally irrelevant.
  18. I suspect that tattoo on Luis Gil's throat is a saying of some sort, but from a distance it looks like a bar code.
  19. Are the Yanx going to remove that fan for yanking the ball out of Mookie's glove or are they going to award him free field level tickets to tomorrow's game like they did for Jefferey Maier?
  20. Freeman certainly feeling unfettered and alive in this series.
  21. So will tonight be the last baseball game for the next five months? To avoid that the Yanx are pinning their hopes for survival on righty Luis Gil, the guy who had a great April & May but more ordinary since. He's also only pitched once since the end of the season when he started Game 4 vs Cleveland allowing 2R/3H in 4 innings. The Dodgers have yet to name a starter as this is one of their designated 'Bullpen games'. Of course it is, in effect, a ballgame game for the Yanx too as it'll be quick hooks all around for both managers. Hell, 15 hurlers were used last night despite just six total runs scored (four until 2 out/bottom 9). I conked out around the 7th last night so missed the late mini-drama.
  22. =metirish post_id=177746 time=1730203294 user_id=72] My MFY loving friend at work is laying some blame on the umps 😆
  23. Really, Banda? You're gonna walk your first hitter on four pitches?!?!? oe: and he gets lucky on a generous strike three call to end the 7th inning.
  24. There was a play in one of the earlier round games where, on a bloop to short RCF, Torres never moved as the ball fell just in front of a charging Soto for a single. I didn't see the play as I was listening on radio at the time but, shyeeet, even John Sterling noticed and commented. In the same game he also failed to move on the pitch despite there being two outs and a 3-2 count.
  25. Lux almost looked hisself into being thrown out at the plate there. He looked over his shoulder at least three times on his way home.
