  1. Well that's why they couldn't do a [u:0175eb81ee]seperate admission[/u:0175eb81ee] DH today - because they would have lost the right to televise the night game. And they couldn't have a S.A. DH on Saturday because they were the FOX game which is sked in the middle of the day. Ergo, they were stuck losing the gate for the one game by having the old fashioned "Twi-Night" DH. And speaking of sep-adm DHs, the ChiSox/Tiggers DH today was supposed to be seperate (I think) but Game 1 was rain-delayed some 3 hours and barely finished in time for the ESPN time slot at 8:00 (EDT). Not sure how they handled it but I don't think they had time to clear out the stadium and fill it up again. Sounds like maybe the night ticket holders got screwed or the day guys got a bonus game if they wanted it.
  2. ESPN never has a second game on Sunday - it's one game to the entire country. In fact there rarely ever IS a second Sunday night game (Tex & LA sometimes) because ESPN's exclusive rights to that slot means that a competing game can't even be televised to the local market. (Mets had a Sunday night game @ Dodgers a couple years back and we were all howling because there was no TV at all) Tonight there happens to be [u:b106f2ec0b]three[/u:b106f2ec0b] night games but that's just because of last-minute weather-related rescheduling. Not sure if those games got special permission to televise to their home folks or not but ESPN sure isn't at either one.
  3. Jerry does like playing lefty/righty doesn't he?
  4. Why do I foresee a two run inning coming up here?
  5. Pen so far: 4 pitchers, 11 batters faced, 4 outs
  6. It's like they draw straws out there to decide whose turn it is to fuck up.
  7. Great job by Smith Now why is Brewer mgr Ned Yost leaving (LOOGY) Brian Shouse in to face Burrell and then Victorino?
  8. Have the Braves hit a groundball AT anybody yet this series? I swear every piece of shit they get finds a hole somewhere ... and no we're back to where we were yesterday.
  9. Ollie's getting better as the game goes on
  10. PUPPY KILLER!!!!! As for the whole signle season save record ... Yawn!
  11. TN = 6 Playoff Odds = .03873 N-HOP (for passing Boston) = 78.6% (22 of 28)
  12. ="holychicken"]You are an evil, evil person, frayed. Yes. Yes I am. Game 148; Sunday , Sept 16 - Philly @ Mets Phils 10 - Mets 6 Adam Eaton (4.2 IP, 5R, 7H) vs Perez (4.2 IP, 5R, 6 BB, 7H): Phils score three early off Ollie, two on a 3nd inning, 2-out, bases-loaded error by Reyes Beltran's clutch 2-out, 5th inning 3R HR ties the game at 5 So we're on a roll, right? ... Wrong! Mota starts the 6th and immediately loads the bases: Walk - Error (Castillo) - Walk and then gives way to Sosa to issue first another walk and then a PH-GS to Dobbs. (10-5 Phils) Sosa then retires the side in order as he, followed by Collazzo, Smith, Feliciano & Heilman no-hit the Phils for the rest of the game in a classic case of TLTL (too little too late) Met bats, meanwhile, finish up the remaining 4 innings by getting 2 hits (one a Wright solo HR) off 4 Philly relievers. You want errors? ... We got errors!! SIX of 'em!! {Conine, LoDuca, Reyes (2), Alou & Castillo} leading to 4 uneraned runs Lead = 3-1/2; N-HOP Pct rises from 37.9% to 40.7% We can blame Soupy's kids if it makes you feel any better http://archives.cranepoolforum.net/7300/f14_t7378.shtml
  13. The remnants of Ike are cruising through Missouri as we speak and it side-swiped Dallas as well. Also expected to brush past Cleveland & Cincinnati. The ticket selling edge that Milwaukee gives MLB with a close-by home team (plus a roof - it's been raining in Chicago for two days now) was probably the biggest selling point, just not one that's going to make the Astros happy.
  14. Games have been re-scheduled for tonight and Monday in Milwaukee That can't make Houston fans happy as it'll pretty much make for a pro-Cubbies crowd only 100+ miles from Chicago. It also still leaves one game to make up, and that one will be after the final day of the season 'if neccessary'.
  15. Bases-loaded/no-outs twice = 1 run Nuff said.
  16. Would have been nice to get some runners in the 8th if only to turn the lineup over back to the top. Gotta force a run now with the bench seeing as how 8 & 9 are due to lead off. I'd like to see Murphy be one of the PHers On edit: I had forgotten Gonzalez was a lefty - hadn't seen him in so long
  17. metsguyinmichigan wrote: Santana's gotta be pulling his hair out with this bunch. Overall yeah, but that inning was as much on him as his relief. He gave up two liners to start the inning. The relievers got the grounders they wanted but both were soft rollers which simply found holes.

  19. Their bases-loaded ground balls found holes, ours didn't. Simple as that so far.
  20. Not Johan's best day, but I'm not going to argue with 7 inning shutouts. Schoeneweis is the first lefty out of the pen. Usually that's Feliciano's spot but he hasn't exactly shown that he deserves to keep it.
  21. metsmarathon wrote: mark grace really is not pleasing to the ears. how the hell do they go about hiring awful, awful announcers like him? i mean, there's gotta be better guys out there than this, just hoping for a job, right? I think Grace had the rep as a player of being "colorful", maybe because he was often going out with some good-looking babes. I think network execs look at that kind of stuff and say; "Hey, this guy would be great on TV" That said, while he's certainly not Mr. Excitement out there, he hasn't said anything particularly dopey today ... at least not yet.
  22. Brent Lillibridge. It sounds like the place that Lil' trolls live under.
  23. He's missing his spots and taking more pitches than you'd like to see. On the other hand, he is putting up zeros and all three Atlanta hits have been soft bloops.
  24. MFYs cryin' in the rain TN = 8 Playoff Odds = .06013 N-HOP (for passing Boston) = 75% (24 of 32)
