  3. #181 on your list of all-time Mets
  4. I swear I've never seen that big dork have a clean inning. The Sawx finally get to Rivera only to have Papelshit, after getting Jeter to fly out to start the inning, go single, single, walk, single to re-tie the game again.
  5. Cain not able. No no-no for Matt as Jay Pay breaks it up with an infield single with one out in the 8th, then Mel Mora HRs and the Rox start to party like it's 1999. 4-2 Giants in the 9th
  6. When the Giants finally ended their 3-runs-and-under streak they sure did it in style (10-9 was the final). Tulo's game-winning double was on the ground and really just past the diving SS, but he hit it so hard that the LF had to go into a slide to keep it from going to the wall and the runner was able to score all the way from 1st. Giant pitching back on track today though. Cain has a no-no thru 7. 1 walk & 1 error (his own) 4-0 Gints, top 8
  7. Houses of the Holy
  8. Not only did that GiDP end the inning but it probably kept Hamels in the game (he was on deck) and Beltran takes advantage ... and NOW he's outta here.
  9. Sending Reyes home wasn't a bad move, it just didn't work -- although if there was ever a time to get 'payback' on one of the Phillie phielders he coulda/shoulda buried Ruiz. The brainless move was the caught stealing. Wrong move, wrong time and he had a lousy jump to boot. Between pickoffs and CSs we're giving up a lot of baserunners lately. Can't even remember the last successful SB

  11. Nice that they're scoring a few runs here, but they're letting Hamels off the hook a bit too. He's retired only 3 of the last 12 hitters to face him (and one of them was Misch) but wound up with six outs due to the caught stealing, a GiDP, and the throw out at home

  13. Texas cliches its first AL West title since 1999. Must be exciting down there and I can just see the sports headlines tomorrow. Actually I don't know exactly what the headline will be but I'm sure it'll have something to do with the Cowboys. The Rangers news will be on page C14
  14. Yeah clinch this you towel-waving, cheese-steak eaters !
  15. How NOT to start an inning in four easy steps: Starring Hisanori Takahashi
  16. TB winning late in their game so it looks like them up by 1.5 for 1st place in the East. Boston essentially has to run the table in order to make this interesting - but stranger things have happened. Need to not only sweep the Yanx but can't lose more than one in their 4-game series vs ChiSox in between while hoping the Yanx stumble in Toronto.
  17. Plus he's got good pinball bumpers on his hips
  18. Dickey - 2.5 Pagan - 2.5 Davis - 2.0 Carter - 0.75 Wright - 0.75
  19. The objection isn't about playing hard or about take-out slides, it's about take-out slides which don't begin until after the runner crosses the bag. Or, put another way, without evasive maneuvers Utley's body hits Tejada close to knee-high. As I said at the time, I've seen worse but it was still a late and borderline dirty slide. And if the post-game yapping makes Utley feel need to bail out early on a potential DP in order to protect his knees tonight then it's all worth it. Or if he takes a pitch in the ribs in the first inning then that's OK too; it's not like he doesn't intentionally stick himself in front of a dozen or so pitches per year anyway.
  20. I've seen worse but it was a bit late. Utley's ass didn't hit the ground until he was 2 ft or more past 2B
  21. Pettitte got his ass kicked tonight one day after CC get a sore butt as well. But no need to worry, after those guys they have ... ummm, well, lemme get back to you on that. Rays winning as we speak vs Seattle. If things hold it would flip the 1/2 game lead once again - although the Yanx just cut the lead to 10-5 and, of course, they're only 2-1/2 hours in so they've got several innings to go still. Yanx have two more against Boston and then 3 more to close out the season. Yanx would need to lose at least 5 of those 6 plus fall down during the Toronto series in between for the Sawx to have a shot at catching them but, as we know, stranger things have happened.
  22. Two more HRs for Bautista tonight. "Fuckin' Ay" as Axel used to say.
