  2. It's always a historic day when the Mets win. This day just a bit more so than most.
  3. Put it in the Buch Holz!!
  4. I'm giving Paulino 12 Schaefer points for this game. And if that Grimm bastard doesn't like it he can come to my house and try and start something!!
  5. Capuano would have been a good idea. But this way you do get to start the inning with Buchholz and go to Iggy (or whoever) only if/when he gets into trouble. If you were going to change pitchers anyway then I would have PH'd
  6. Hey, hey Paulino I wanna marry you
  7. Wright singles - now we need to end this parade of LOBsters
  8. Edgy DC wrote: Please don't waste Thole just to bunt. With one out even Willie Manual wouldn't have done that. Terrible camera work as we're shown Thole jogging off the field instead of Pridie rounding 3rd.
  9. ESPN continues to be confused with the idea that we tune into the game in order to listen to their studio hosts talk about the game that we should be watching. And here comes Thole.
  10. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Spontaneous, jubilant crowd of hundreds at Ground Zero. I'll join their jubilation if one of the Mets would just bank one off that fuckin' neon Liberty Bell.
  11. Figured I was forgetting someone: re: Igarashi The Phils still have Herndon in the pen, he was the guy that served up the HRs in the 9th the other day (albeit meaningless ones). They probably figure to go with Kendrick for a while. And the Phils have Ross Gload.
  12. And this one goes to twelve.
  13. So we've got just Thole left plus Buchholz and some combo if Gee/Capuano Not sure who they've got as far as bench and they were short on pitchers before this game started.
  14. Last 18 half-innings for NYM bats: 16 hits, 6 walks, 2 runs 19 half-innings, 17 hits, 6 walks, 2 runs
  15. Can these guys get any more piece of shit hits!?!?!? Aside from Schneider's hard double early it's been Howard's check swing, Schneider's 7 hopper up the middle, Victorino's infield chopper, and Polanco's bloop.
  16. Last 18 half-innings for NYM bats: 16 hits, 6 walks, 2 runs
  17. Niese - 3.6 Buchholz - 0.2 Byrdak - 0.2 Isringhausen - 0.2 Reyes - 0.4 Murphy - 1.0 Beltran - 1.5 Wright - 1.0 Reyes - 0.4 Pridie - 0.4
  18. Byrdak - 0.5 Davis - 1.0 Pridie - 1.0 Murphy - 0.5
  19. It's also not like Buchholz has been bad, so let's not be too quick to mock Terry for sticking too closely to roles while we make a similar one by assigning levels of 'goodness' too soon. TB this season = Less than a hit/inning; more than a K/iP; WHiP of under 1.1; 1.38 ERA; only one run allowed since opening day. Today he went: single, FO, GO (albeit on a nice play on that last one, but it just have easily could have been at someone and been routine) upon coming in a 1-out/2-on situation.
  20. Edgy DC wrote: Reallly? He was having a turrible inning. I just wish they went with a pitcher higher up on their depth charts. I think Buchholz is probably a better strike-out guy than Izzy at this point so I don't think it was a bad idea to go that route - or, by that reasoning, you could argue that Frankie is the guy to go to there although knowing it was a 2-out stint at most counters that. Of course we all know the real reason was that it was TB's "spot" to come in and not Izzy's or Frankie's, but that's a whole 'nother story. I had no problem pulling Niese after he went 1B then 4-pitch walk to the 7 & 8 hitters following the HR. We had a few chances, just didn't cash them in. Tough days for Ike & Bay.
  21. I was just about to posit the question about whether you let Niese lead off in the 8th inning were he to get out of this inning unscathed. Don't think it was going to happen anyway but it's a moot point now.
  22. Beato - 1.5 Davis - 1.0 Wright - 0.3 Reyes - 1.0 Thole - 1.0 Beltran - 0.7
  23. Dickey - 3.0 Igarashi - 0.2 Rodriguez - 0.3 Murphy - 3.6 Bay - 0.7 Davis - 0.7 Turner - 1.0 Hu - 0.5
  24. Ronnie Paulino - 908
