  1. Just weak grounder after weak grounder, and often on first pitch/early in the count.
  2. Butto saves the game from going all pear-shaped.
  3. It's Memorial Day which brings about that long baseball tradition (at least in this age of universal scheduling) multiple teams with the day off. Six teams are at rest on the holiday including the Braves and Phils. But that ends tomorrow as Braves will be in Philly for games Tues, Wed, and Thu night.
  4. =ashie62 post_id=193726 time=1748291466 user_id=90] Nimmo with a double
  5. And thus starts six games vs the two worst teams in MLB today and in the running for the two worst in the history of all time. ChiSox (17-36) come in for the first of three vs los Metsies, 4:10 start on Memorial Day afternoon. Looks like it'll be (brief) former NYM Adrian Houser vs Clay Holmes. Houser has made only one appearance this year, pitching six innings of 2-hit/shutout ball vs the M's last Tuesday
  6. Two of three from the reigning champs (which could have been a sweep with one well-timed hit on Friday) to hold serve via Philly and gain a game on the Braves.
  7. A little insurance would be nice. I don't care if we get it from Soto, from Pete, or via Flo from Progressive.
  8. Different network/same issue as last night: they tell us that someone is pinch-hitting but they don't tell you who for.
  9. And we're giving Knack some quick innings.
  10. We got Stanek and Kranick so there's no need to panic.
  11. ATL & PHI both lost today. Philly wound up going 2-1 in West Sacramento Braves dropped two of three at home to previously cold Padres So, yeah, it would be nice to win the rubber game here tonight.
  12. That's got to be at least two or three uncontested SBs for Soto recently.
  13. 55 pitches is a bit heavy for three innings (more like 4-2/3 worth) but not too terrible and much of that was from inning #1
  14. I hope we find out who does the dishes before the half inning is over.
  15. So we take advantage of their error after they couldn't take advantage of ours. Good stuff.
  16. Well this isn't starting well [hr, E-5, 2B]
  17. Detroit's Tarik Skubal threw 'a Maddux' against Cleveland today: requirements for the 'Maddux' are a CG shutout on <100 pitches Skubal's line: 94 pitches, 2 hits, no walks, 1 HBP, 13 Ks. His final pitch of the game, swinging strike three, registered 102.6 mph ToG: 2:10
  18. I almost forgot that this one is on me. I'm not used to winning these things. So it's the finale of the weekend long Three Games/Three Networks tour which concludes with a 7:08 first pitch on ESPN's SNB Kodai Senga goes for the good guys vs Landon Knack (Knuke the Knack!!) Knack is a 27 y/o 2nd year RH'er who filled in both last year and this due to LAD's multiple mound mishaps. He fared better in his 15 games/12 start rookie campaign than he is so far this season: 6 G/4 starts, 23.1 IP, 16 ER, 6.17 ERA, 1.54 WHIP Most recently he allowed 4 runs over 5 innings in relief vs Arizona and 5 runs in a 4.2 start vs the A's Let's knock the Sharona out of him.
  19. =bmfc1 post_id=193634 time=1748182261 user_id=73] Remember when FOX showed a guy pouring milk over his head to celebrate a Mets run? That was a paid actor set-up by FOX to promote the Indy 500.
  20. So Friday's game was the 26th time since the introduction of this abomination (now covering four full seasons plus two partial ones) that a game has gone at least 13 innings. Of the 52 teams who participated in one of those the Mets were the 6th team that failed to score even a single run in the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th innings despite starting each inning with a runner on 2nd base. - on 6/10/22 the Cubs got no hits, 2 walks (1 intentional), hit into two GiDPs, and never hit a ball out of the IF before the Yanx scored in bottom 13th - 8/9/22, two months later it was the Yanquis turn for ineptness: no hits, two DPs, one CS, and no balls out of the IF. Luis Torrens then singled in a run with one out in the bottom of the 13th for the only run of a 1-0 Mariner win. - 5/18/24 Angels @ Texas: LAA got no hits, 1 walk, 1 DP until the Rangers won on a bases-loaded HBP in B-13th (Hey, that's supposed to be our move!) - 8/25/21; this is the really cool one: Dodgers and Padres BOTH failed to score in the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th innings. They then each notched two runs in the 15th before the Dodgers got a 2R 'leadoff HR' in top 16th and the Pads went meekly 1-2-3 in B-16. It's the only game since the introduction of this rule to reach the 16th inning. Time of Game: 5:49 And so Friday was the 5th game where it happened and the Mets the 6th team to "accomplish" that feat. They got four walks (3 IW) and a HBP but not a single hit, and also twice installed pinch runners as their Manfred Man who wound up being three of the four Ghost runners but to no avail. 10th (Acuna at 2nd): K, HBP, GO, FO (can't even get our outs in the correct order). Runners left: 2nd & 3rd 11th (Azocar): LO, IW, K, BB, GO. Runners left: Loaded 12th (Acuna): IW, Bunt, IW, GiDP. Runners left: Loaded 13th (Torrens): FO, GO, LO. Runner left at 2nd
  21. It's just a two run lead, guys. Not the kind of situation to be throwing away potential future runs.
  22. Some nifty footwork by Acuna on that (4th of the game!!) GiDP
  23. The only solution is ... more choppers over the pitchers head. And, of course, more cow bell.
  24. Here's where network announcers most frequently drop the ball. They tell us that Vientos is at bat as if he's been in the lineup all game. They've got too many other thoughts on their agenda that they fail to mention he's just into the game and who he came in for.
  25. Pretty shocking that Gonsolin is still in. But they went through a lot of pen last night.
