  1. Keith thinks Campbell should have thrown home there. The only problem is that if he did the throw would have been just off-line enough to: a) not get the out injure our other catcher
  2. So let's review this inning (still in progress): - shit hit - shit hit - bunt hit - short sac fly which scores a 96 y/o heavy legged catcher because of an off-line throw. My fear here is that the Braves are actually going to hit a ball hard sometime soon and it'll be a 4-run game
  3. And there goes d'Anaud's season
  4. And now Perez has two hits without getting a ball out of the infield!!
  5. JEEZUS F. CHRISTMAS!!!!
  6. Who the Fuck did Pierzynski strike a deal with? 1B, 2B, & 3B and he hasn't hit a ball hard yet! Now we just have to stay tuned for Simmons's 3rd RBI bloop of the game.
  7. The Tigers obviously put 'Be Really Sucky' on their list of things to do while visiting the Bronx this weekend. Lost 7-2 on Friday and are currently getting pasted 10-0 tonight.
  8. Nice 3-K inning by 'The Sich-uation'
  9. Edgy MD wrote: Agreed on the run, but the box score says otherwise. I forgot about the single by Markakis. So they figure the runner takes 3rd on the groundout and home on the single: ergo earned.
  10. Admit it, if I told you this inning would end with the Mets only down by 9-2 you'd take it.
  11. And, stop me if you've heard this one, d'Arnaud's RBI single three innings (and three strikeouts) ago was our last hit.
  12. Edgy MD wrote: Should that second run be earned? Don't think so. You give him the stolen base, but nothing that happened after that indicates that a runner from 2nd would have scored.
  13. Frayed Knot wrote: Last two games for Scherzer: 18 IP, 0 Runs, 1 Hit, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 26 K And the game before that one? he shit the bed (relatively speaking) vs the Yanx: 6.1 IP, 4 ER, 8 Hits, 1 BB
  14. Deep counts on everyone ... Syndergaard might be over 100 pitches by the 4th inning. I think by this time (1:15 into the game) last night, yesterday's game was already in the 5th.
  15. btw, Jose tabata -- the PH who got on via HBP -- [u:2hpay7pl]Absolutely[/u:2hpay7pl] stuck his elbow in the way of the pitch. Suxx to lose a perfect game that way but it would suck even more to start calling that now after not seeing that call for maybe decades.
  16. ... on a HBP with 2-out/2-strikes in the 9th. Gets the no-hitter on the following AB. Last two games for Scherzer: 18 IP, 0 Runs, 1 Hit, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 26 K Oddly those are only his 2nd & 3rd complete games of his career. Is also the Nats 2nd no-hitter in the last 69 reg season games -- Jordan Zimmermann on the final day of the 2014 season.
  17. Grandy - RF Ruby - SS Dudy - 1B Cuddy - LF d'Arny - C Laggy - CF Dilly - 2B Soupy - 3B Synderella - P Still no F Freeman for the Braves (at least not in the starting lineup). Probably no Familia for the Mets w/strained groin (his own hopefully). On the O-o-T-S front, Nats kicking butt, a 5-0 lead over Pitt in bottom 6th (just chased Liriano) and Scherzer working on a perfecto. Looks like we gotta win to stay up top.
  18. deGrom - 5.0 Cuddyer - 1.0 Tejada - 1.0 Plawecki - 1.0 Parnell - 0.25 Familia - 0.25
  19. Let's see now: facing a rookie? - check recently converted from reliever to starter? - check decent results so far? - check already has a save vs Mets? - check haven't scored in like a week? - check So I'm thinking we're looking at probably a 3-hit / CG / shutout.

Well, sure, but we already knew that. The difference here is that while Yanqui fans had to endure Jeter's final season -- hell, everyone talks about how much DiDi Gregarious sucks and yet his season is very similar to Jeter/2014 -- as they focused on wallowing around in the nostalgia and tributes lest they notice that on the field he was contributing Ordonez-like power mixed with Flores-like range, one can make a case for Rodriguez as team MVP. The downside to all this for YLDBs is that ARod is still vastly overpaid and they have to hope for him to continue this level of production for the next 2-1/2 seasons. But at some point they're going to have to admit to themselves that he's has been a Yanqui longer (11 seasons now - heading for 13!) and better than most of their recent heroes such as O'Neill, Tino, Brosius, etc. iow, Time to clear a spot on 'The Wall' for #13
  21. That's now 9 runs scored in 5 games (only 7 in regulation innings) against an ML debut, a 41 y/o, and a bunch of guys with 5+ ERAs. The only miracle here is that they weren't 0-5 like they probably deserved.
  22. btw, ARod must have had a ton of friends and family in the stands tonight because I think he pointed and/or waved at everyone in the stadium during his trip around the bases.
  23. Oh good, I was hoping for another lazy-ass fly ball.
  24. Y'know, most of the time when a closer comes in that team's fans looks at the order and says, "Shit, they've got the 4-5-6 hitters coming up". But when closers come in against the Mets, it makes no difference.
