  1. Remember when we were delighted to find out that Carlos Carrasco was ALSO in the Lindor trade? Yeesh. He was injured in ST but no excuses in '22.
  2. Congrats to Lindor on his 18th HR. 20 would be nice--it wouldn't make up for the rest of the season but it would be nice. Pete gets drilled again. Gary and Keith make excuses for how many times he gets hit (he's on top of the plate) but perhaps opposing teams don't want him to hit a HR and/or his HR postures got on a few nerves. Charging the mound is off-brand for Pete but maybe he could start and they could send Nido out to "hold him back". For Carrasco's last start they should use an opener.
  3. The game is delayed for Ryan Braun's Retirement Ceremony. No word if FedEx sent a gift.
  4. There, I've said it. Other than his scripted work in "Major League", Bob Uecker sucks. His book sucked, his announcing sucks, his baseball career sucked (his shtick is based on it). He sucks. I know that this is a minority opinion. I thought that Harry Caray sucked too but when I was in Chicago once I dined at his steakhouse, he walked in and I was starstruck. I wouldn't cross the street for Uecker. Because he sucks. Mets at Milwaukee, 2:10 PM, ET. Carrasco and F. Peralta. It's also on TBS with Ron Darling in the booth. MIL can clinch the NL Central with a win. F them and their Selig past and their artery-clogging sausages. Nice unis, though. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-brewers/2021/09/26/632328#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=632328https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-brewers/2021/09/26/632328#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=632328 JD to the IL with the same sprained wrist that IL'd him twice this season (was it ever healed?); Almora DFA'd; SRF is back. 5. Chad might be onto something as this leak seems fishy--right before the playoffs when interest is higher than usual in Tampa.
  6. Agreed, especially now that the Mets have been officially eliminated from the playoffs.
  7. There was no reason to use Megill tonight. He and Taijuan need to start their off-season.
  8. Please IL Walker. He doesn't need to throw anymore, the games don't matter, he's under contract for next year, let him rest. And Megill. He doesn't need to pitch on Friday. Yamamoto is pitching in SYR (he got shelled on Wednesday but so what?). Call him up and Oswalt, as well. Let Megill and Walker start recuperating for '22.
  9. A big win on Sunday night, one more chance to get back in the race, and another terrible performance.
  10. Add in 2d and 3d one-out, Baez and Alonso up, and no runs.

  12. I understand the unis and the message... but if you're going to have interleague play, which creates the opportunities for fans to see different teams, then the interleague opponent should wear their normal uniforms.
  13. 14. And that was in PHI with BAL sitting their best player, Cedric Mullins.
  15. =kcmets post_id=78259 time=1632164077 user_id=53] Ah, I mean, I know the band and the song just didn't get the thread-sub reference. Nevermind lol...

  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMgHX2dhVlEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMgHX2dhVlE It was Daniel Murphy's AB music and is used in almost every movie set in Boston. It's a terrific song.
  18. Mets are playing the AL East in late September. Wow. There can be some MFY satisfaction if the Red Sox take this series. This nonsense will continue next year as the Mets play Oakland September 23-25, 2022. You're right. Here are the AL WC Standings: https://www.mlb.com/standings/wild-cardhttps://www.mlb.com/standings/wild-card So while we want the Mets to win, if the Mets lose it's not all bad.
  19. Edgy MD wrote: Sweep the rest of the season and ... well, that'll probably still fall short of the playoffs, but it'd be something. Theoretically: PHI drops out of contention somehow and the Mets are within 3 1/2 of ATL before the 10/1 game which starts a 3-game series. ATL has an "only if it matters" make-up game against COL on 10/4. The Mets sweep, COL wins the makeup game, and (unless there is a bizarre tie-breaker) the Mets and ATL play one game for the NL East championship. deGrom walks on the field and says, "I'm ready!", pitches 5 perfect innings and then Luis takes him out because he has had too many up/downs.

  21. Hooray! Jesse will be happy (that's a callback to the thread opener). This one finished before SNF.
  22. The 8th inning of a one-run game and ESPN brings out the baseball talk show to discuss whether Bryce Harper should be the NL MVP, a discussion that could have occurred earlier in the game, or in the pre-game show or never.
  23. Edgy MD wrote: Good to see Louper come out to open (at least) the eighth. It was a surprise given Luis' recent pattern of bullpen usage. Maybe the day off tomorrow swayed him.
