  1. Two things about the otherwise very nice closing ceremony: I imagined that Jose Reyes and David Wright would come out at the end and take home plate to the new place. That didn't happen but it would have been nice to have at least one of the young stars, flaws and all, participate in the ceremony. "Florida players came out to collect dirt from the basepaths." ([u:311b9d4340]NY Times[/u:311b9d4340].) Are you kidding me? http://bats.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/09/28/shea-stadium-says-goodbye/
  2. That didn't take long: mets.com already has a new masthead.
  3. When you play an elimination game with a) a rookie batting 5th, a guy you signed as a minor league FA batting 6th, c) a guy who was a mop-up guy with a last place team pitching better than any other reliever you have.

  6. I'm almost 50. I have a great wife, two incredible kids, a decent job, both of my parents are still alive, and I'm almost crying. I love the Mets far too much, far more than they've repaid me, us, but that's OK. Wright can console himself with his model girlfriend and his millions. For us, from March on, the Mets help fill up our days. They allow me to share special moments with my sons, and talk to you, most of whom I will never have the good fortune to meet. The Mets allow me to jump up and down like I'm a kid and I feel so bad right now. I know you do too.
  7. I don't want the season to end. LETS
  8. Is he saving Pelfrey for the playoffs?
  9. Rockin' Doc wrote: Damn, how slow is Anderson? Pitiful that he gets thrown out rather easily on that deflected ball. One of three contracts that Omar has to eat for next year.
  10. F'in Cubs lose. Thanks Lou.
  11. Omar should be fired just for signing Schoenweis. What a piece of crap.
  12. How does this girl not know her brother's name?
  13. Brewers tied in the 8th, Mets tied in the 7th. Incredible.
  14. Corey Hart STRIKES OUT. 2 out.
  15. Good move, Jerry. Let's hope that NDs great catch is part of a victory this time. BTW, Brewers w/the bases loaded, 1 out.
  16. Zvon--that was amazin'. You too, Carlos!
  17. AG/DC: want to call the roll?
  18. I have EI and I will watch the fuzzy SNY picture even though I have TBS HD. Chip Carey is a moron.
  19. The picture wasn't that big when I found it--that's what she said--but it got bigger when I brought it here--that's what she said. I must be channeling my 15 year old son.
  20. deleted
  21. No Hanley. See above.
