  1. Kazmir owns Boston, he was brilliant the other night against them...a complete game two hitter.
  2. Nady got a hit with RISP yesterday.....can you believe that?...Cameron is having a miserable season, with a .251 AVG in 259 AB's he has 9 homers and 32 RBI.... Fron the San Diego Tribune today.. ] Cameron was hitless in four at-bats yesterday, although he drew a walk in the first and scored the Padres' first run after stealing second. Cameron is 0-for-13 in his last three games after a 20-game run that saw him get eight homers, three triples and five doubles while hitting .304. What's up with Piazza, he looks like a bum
  3. I thought of a guy like Richie Sexon but he had a few huge years , then I thought about Shawn Green but he had some great years for LA....in 2001 he had 49 homers with 125 RBI, the following year he had 42 and 114, since then he has gone down hill.
  4. Some rumors have the Mets looing at Kip Wells.. http://www.prosportsdaily.com/mlb/mets/rumors.html

    This is great craic.
  7. ] He might be suffering from dead arm syndrome I thought you said last week that you were not a Doctor.....
  8. Speculation now has Pelfrey starting Friday night with Maine going in one game Saturday, today is decision day with Pedro,if he needs more rest Lima will take his start.
  9. The National League hasn't won in 10 years, in past years that wouldn't bother me but this year it could be very helpful for the Mets if the NL won..LGNL
  10. should have noted the report said Oliver and Maine could get that start. ] Pelfrey may get chance BY ADAM RUBIN DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER Mike Pelfrey's major-league debut may come this weekend against the Marlins - whether or not Pedro Martinez overcomes hip inflammation and can make a start before the All-Star break. Because of a rainout during the season's opening home stand, the Mets have a doubleheader Saturday against the Marlins at Shea and have at least one starting vacancy. Pelfrey, who had a solid showing at Double-A Binghamton two days ago with special assistant Sandy Johnson watching, will get strong consideration for that start, along with Norfolk's John Maine and long-reliever Darren Oliver. Two of those three pitchers could be called upon Saturday if Martinez is shut down until after the All-Star Break. Pelfrey regularly hit 96 mph with his fastball while limiting New Hampshire to one run and two hits in seven innings. He still needs to refine his curveball, but that might not prevent the Mets from promoting him. An MLB staffer said the league wanted Pelfrey to participate in next weekend's Futures Game for prospects in Pittsburgh, but officials were told he was unavailable because of potentially looming major-league duty.
  11. No point having Oliver pitch yesterday as is being pointed out here, Pelfrey pitched Saturday so is not an option for tonight, but as the Daily News is reporting today Pelfrey is being withheld from the Futures game next weekend in Pittsburgh, the thiking is that he might get the start against the Marlins Saturday. The Mets have a dooubleheader Saturday to makeup for the opeing series home stand rainout versus the fish.
  12. Yeah I saw it, better than Rowan's catch?, I think so.
  13. Excellent KTE....
  14. Last season the Mets split with the MFY, lost two at home and won two in the Bronx,in 04 the Mets took the season series 4 to 2 thanks in part to Mr.Koo.
  15. Don't know about the women but A-Rod makes about half a million bi-weekly so a month's wages would just about pay for Wright and Reyes for the year.
  16. ] BY KEN DAVIDOFF Newsday Staff Writer June 30, 2006 Ranking the top shortstop-third base combinations in baseball. 1) Jose Reyes and David Wright, Mets. Their combined on-base-plus-slugging crushes that of the Yankees' duo. Throw in Reyes' speed and Wright's grace under pressure, and this is the best in the big leagues. 2) Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, Yankees. A pair of future Hall of Famers, and one of modern baseball's most interesting relationships. Jeter's defense continues to be overrated, though, while A-Rod, you might have heard, is experiencing an off year. 3) Hanley Ramirez and Miguel Cabrera, Florida. The soul of the National League's most surprising team. Ramirez has matured quicker than anticipated, and Cabrera is a ridiculous hitter. 4) David Eckstein and Scott Rolen, St. Louis. Eckstein gets on base a ton, and Rolen has been healthy after missing most of last year. Rolen helps make up for Eckstein's limited range. 5) Michael Young and Hank Blalock, Texas. Young gets compared to Jeter in the dreaded "intangibles" category. Blalock, nearly traded to Florida for Josh Beckett last November, has lessened the pain over the deal falling through. Runners-up: Miguel Tejada and Melvin Mora, Baltimore. Tejada's questionable behavior prevents a higher ranking. Bobby Crosby and Eric Chavez, Oakland. Who doesn't love watching Chavez play defense? Crosby, however, doesn't hit enough.
  17. I was having a good laugh when reading this earlier, Justice was very pointed in his comments, that's all fine if they came form him and not from others.
  18. I looked but couldn't find out if it was a 9 pitch outing for Gooden, still it sounded like a great game and Valenzuela and Gooden both struck out the side. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/asgbox/yr1984as.shtml
  19. Here is the Redsox lineup.. Red Sox 1. Kevin Youkilis, 1B 2. Mark Loretta, 2B 3. David Ortiz, DH 4. Manny Ramirez, LF 5. Mike Lowell, 3B 6. Jason Varitek, C 7. Coco Crisp, CF 8. Gabe Kapler, RF 9. Alex Gonzalez, SS -- Curt Schilling, SP
  20. I don't think the Mets are at all reliant on the long ball, on the last road trip IIRC they were being lauded becuase they didn't just bombard teams with home runs, they scored in many different ways....these past two games just sucked, Soler you never know what you're going to get and Pedro was returning to Fenway and like others before him was way too amped up or whatever....Glavine needs to settle things down.
  21. GYC can you ask Neil S. Serven if he's worried about the Mets....
  22. In Omar I trust, getting smacked around by the AL might be a blessing in that Omar goes out and makes a trade for another bat and a starting pitcher, Soriano and Zito would fit the bill thank you.....this is the year to go and win it all....go Omar.
  23. Nady bruised his wrist last night so I assume that's why he's out.
  24. Umm I'm just going with what Boston.com has, but yeah Reyes can't be playing 2nd, Castro is probably playing because Willie wants to shut down Boston's non-existent running game...
