  2. OK,lets go now.....hey we have speed on the paths tonight.
  3. ] Derek Jeter named 2nd most popular athlete The Yankees shortstop was the only baseball player on the list. Tiger Woods took top honors. BALTIMORE -- Derek Jeter, who turned 33 Tuesday, was named the second most popular athlete in America in a survey conducted by the Harris Poll organization. Jeter is behind only Tiger Woods on the Top 10 list, which Harris puts out annually for no discernible reason. Alex Rodriguez did not make the list, nor did any other baseball player. Not surprisingly, the news of his standing in the hearts and minds of Americans -- or at least the 2,372 adults nationwide who were polled from June 5-11 -- did not seem to complete Jeter's life. "Really, honestly, it's not something you sit down and think about," Jeter said before the Yankees played the Orioles at Camden Yards. "I've never sat down and looked at a poll." The Harris Poll Most popular athletes in America 1. Tiger Woods 2. Derek Jeter 3. Michael Jordan (retired) 4. Brett Favre 5. LeBron James 6. Dale Earnhardt Jr. 7. Tim Duncan 8. Peyton Manning 9. Kobe Bryant 10. Tom Brady
  4. Frayed Knot wrote: A-Rod just seems to have an almost stunning ability to rub almost everyone the wrong way and come off as a phony in the process. And the harder he tries to repair his image - and Lord does he try - the worse he makes it. That's it really right there....even when he saves a kid from possibly getting run over it's turned against him.....I wonder if that trade to Boston had been approved would things be different for him.
  5. The scene....Brian Cashman Jr's office, the year 2057 and Roger Clemens is begging to pitch again that year......rather stupid..... some old man in his 90's maybe is playing the old Clemens...
  6. Jermaine Dye gets mentioned a lot,he's a FA after the season, what would it take to get him and would the Mets want to sign him for the next few seasons...I really don't like guys that can walk but if he's the difference maker I suppose it's worth the risk....figures to be a lot of teams wanting him though....is he injured right now?
  7. Ron Darling said it's OK to style like that if you've hit 28 home runs.....I wonder if he were still pitching if he would feel the same way....anyway I really thought Gomez was going to go greet the fans after he hit it...Willie had a chat with him I assume about styling.
  8. Mets have some of the best ever and this fella(who ever he is) rates wagner as the best... Billy wagner Rob Neyer had this to say. ] • Baseball Crank rates the greatest left-handed relievers and comes up with Billy Wagner as No. 1 all-time. I'm not saying he's wrong (though I'd prefer somebody with more innings). But isn't rating left-handed relievers a little like rating left-footed punters? Or tone-deaf point guards?
  9. Sosa - 2.5 Wagner - 2 Green - 2 Gomez - 1 Heilman - 1 Feliciano - 1 Smith - 0.5
  10. Taguchi would be a fine bench player on a decent team.
  11. True Yancy but I suppose the question is do you want Gomez to be the fifth outfielder, him being 21 and all that .
  12. What happens to Gomez if and when Alou and Chavez comes back....a question Gary Cohen has asked a few times the past few days.
  13. With my team,I've really tried everything to get my team up the standings, made recent trades, picked up players and dropped others. I know my team has more than a few sluggers who are not doing a lot and have terrible AVG but really there is nothing on the waiver wire to replace them with,I think my pitching is OK,yeah I could drop Maddux and such but again nothing much better to be had, unless I make trades but who would want them?.... I'm not going to win this but would like input from you guys.
  14. I think he's supposed to start a rehab assignment this week,or maybe that was last week....the Mets had told him not to do a damn thing for ten days...nothing,not even piss on his hands, then he was to start rehab in FLA...and take ti from there....something like that.
  15. OHernandez - 5 Wright - 2 Castro - 2 Wagner - 1
  16. Glavine - 5 Green - 2 Reyes - 1 Beltran - 2
  17. Maine - 4 Reyes - 2 Gomez - 1 Easley - 1 Valentin - 1 Beltran - 1
  18. I suppose,I am more or less going by what several former team mates said...course it's not like they would bad mouth him....
  19. Yancy Street Gang wrote: I'm mostly surprised that Clemens was even at the game. What was he doing in San Francisco if he wasn't scheduled to pitch there? I thought he'd be playing golf in Houston. Obviously you don't listen to Joe Morgan......he knew all along Clemens wouldn't do anything to hurt the team...
  20. By all accounts a great person - R.I.P.
  21. A bit shocked but not surprised to read that Clemens pitched out of the pen yesterday.......SO Durham, walked Bonds, gave up a single to Klesko sending Bonds to third who then scored on a sac-fly by Nate Schierholtz ,Feliz then flied to center......not very steller.
  22. I feel like I just left therapy ,that was fucking great...
  23. Moises Awho ain;t coming back until he's 100%,which maybe never...actually not sure if he or the Mets can even give a time on that.
