  2. I think Willie has Pedro on a short leash, took Willie a while to trust him last season,in his gut I think Willie doesn't really want him.

  12. ] No punishment for Giambi Jason Giambi will not be disciplined for his tacit admission to the use of performance-enhancing drugs in a May USA Today article, baseball commissioner Bud Selig announced Thursday. Selig ordered Giambi, a designated hitter with the Yankees, to cooperate with Senator George Mitchell's steroid investigation, in the wake of his comments. Selig said at the time that any punishment would be determined based on Giambi's level of cooperation with Mitchell. Selig said in a statement Thursday: "Jason was frank and candid with Senator Mitchell. That and his impressive charitable endeavors convinced me it was unnecessary to take further action." Giambi's comments to USA Today included the following: "I was wrong for doing that stuff. What we should have done a long time ago was stand up – players, ownership, everybody – and said: 'We made a mistake.' We should have apologized back then and made sure we had a rule in place and gone forward. … Steroids and all of that was a part of history. But it was a topic that everybody wanted to avoid. Nobody wanted to talk about it." Giambi has been on the disabled list for much of the season with a torn plantar fascia. He was activated last week, and is 5-for-14 with three RBIs since. Selig's statement Thursday included an excerpt from a letter he wrote to Giambi regarding his commitment to off-field charitable activities. The causes include the Partnership for a Drug Free America, the Harlem RBI Program and the Major League Baseball Academy in Compton, Calif. It was widely expected that Giambi would not be disciplined if he did cooperate with Mitchell. Are Bonds charitable endeavors impressive?

  15. Maine - 0.5 Heilman - 0.5 Wagner - 0.5 Sosa - 0.5 Alou - 2 Beltran - 2 Reyes - 1 Easley - 1 Delgado - 1 Milledge - 1
  16. OHernandez - 2 Wagner - 1 Alou - 2 Beltran - 2 DiFelice - 1.5 Wright - 1.5
  17. Steveo is a divisive character to say the least....
  18. ="Yancy Street Gang"]Delgado has been better than you're giving him credit for. Not as good as last year, but he's been getting it done over the past few months. He's been much more than "one good week." His horrible start has left a bad taste in our mouths, but he's been a contributor. (And I bet you'd be very surprised at where he ranks in total Schaefer points for 2007.) Your right Yancy, but for the life of me I am struggling to remember a signature Delgado moment this season......I suck though.
  19. O's take the lead back ,Tejada knocks in two of Rivera
  20. In my ten+ years of watching the Mets it seems to me that they have always sucked with getting men home from 3rd with less that two outs, and they probably have. Delgado has been terrible, probably had one good week,Beltran is not what I expected really and all my silly talk of Reyes as a possible MVP was just that, silly. Wagner has been the team MVP for moi.
  21. The fight scene in Morocco was just brilliant though.....
  22. I hate reading about how the National League sucks and it's inferior to the American League, when it comes to the World Series it hardly matters and has more to do with what teams pitching is inferior . I have plenty of love for the 07 Mets.I don't think many here thought that the Braves and Phillies would be crap like they were last season,so things are tighter this year that's all, toughen the team up for the post-season.
  23. Fair enough attgig but I would speculate that Cox got ejected mostly for arguing strikes and balls, always trying to show up the umpires and just being a bollox and I bet he knew when he was getting close to John McGraw even though he says it's a record he didn't want.
  24. Jose Offerman still hitting. ] Bridgeport Bluefish catcher John Nathans, right, prevents Long Island Ducks' Jose Offerman (18) from hitting Bluefish pitcher Matt Beech with a bat. Long Island Ducks shortstop Jose Offerman charged the mound wielding a bat Tuesday night after being hit by a pitch, according to the Connecticut Post. Bridgeport Bluefish starting pitcher Matt Beech hit Offerman in the second inning and a brawl ensued that resulted in Offerman's arrest. He was being held on $10,000 bond on a second-degree assault charge. According to The Associated Press, police said Offerman posted bond. Offerman hit a home run in the first inning and was hit by a 0-1 fastball in the calf. Offerman's attack left Beech with a broken middle finger on his non-throwing right hand. Also injured was catcher John Nathans, who suffered from symptoms related to a concussion. "He hit him with a cut fastball in the left calf," Bluefish manager Tommy John said. "And the next thing you know, Offerman's going to the mound with his bat over his head taking swings at Beech. He took at least two, maybe even three [swings]." Offerman played for the Bluefish in 2003, appearing in 98 games. He also was voted an All-Star during his MLB tenure. "It may have only been John Nathans taking one on the backswing in the head to have saved Matt Beech from really taking one in the face," said Bluefish pitcher Mike Porzio.
  25. Yeah Greenie seems like a decent sort and like he said he's not exactly tearing the cover of the ball.
