  2. "I can appreciate a fiery manager. I think a fiery manager is quite desirable." with these words the odds makers are going crazy, revised odds A cardboard cut out of a man that looks like a manager 3/1 Bob Melvin - 5/1 Wally Backman - 6/1 Chip Hale - 4/1 Ken Oberkfell - 10/1 Lee Mazzilli - 12/1 Clint Hurdle - 15/1 Pete Mackanin - 25/1 Bobby Valentine - 8/1 Don Wakamatsu - 50/1 Terry Collins - 10/1 DeMarlo Hale - 40/1

  4. Val , you can vote for the cardboard cut out.
  5. Edgy DC wrote: My wishes are Valentine, but I'm projecting Collins. The wigs know his work in the Mets system and Alderson has seen plenty of him in the AL West. Like Alderson, he'd also be coming out of semi-retirement for the "right situation." This has swayed me to Collins, I was going to wager on Melvin.
  6. Pete Rose getting his bet in Names are been thrown about the place like confetti at a wedding The latest odds out of Ireland are A cardboard cut out of a man that looks like a manager 3/1 Bob Melvin - 4/1 Wally Backman - 25/1 Chip Hale - 4/1 Ken Oberkfell - 20/1 Lee Mazzilli - 30/1 Clint Hurdle - 15/1 Pete Mackanin - 25/1 Bobby Valentine - 30/1 Don Wakamatsu - 30/1 Terry Collins - 10/1 DeMarlo Hale - 40/1 Look, these numbers will surely change after the press conference with Alderson today, but you see the trend, low key is the key.
  7. What's his name won't like that they are sending out ore emails... What are the odds on him getting asked about bunting today?
  8. That was great from Noble.
  9. It's a more interesting vote than I thought it might be. Kudos to Edgy for one of his better ideas
  10. Davis Takahashi Niese Thole Tejada
  11. 2pm Friday for the introduction, SNY will have it live.
  12. Heyman has four inhouse guys getting interviewed, Backman, Hale, Oberkfell and Melvin. I'm feeling Melvin more and more Odds up soon
  13. Good work bucket - Steve P. = Steve Phillips?
  14. Want to know who "the machine" is? Wilson
  15. "You've got to get it while you can," Hurdle said last week while cruising through Fort Myers in his new Dodge van, a homey vehicle equipped with a refrigerator, sink, CB radio, stereo tape deck, fold-out bed and spittoon. Hurdle keeps a harmonica within easy reach on the padded dashboard, and the refrigerator behind him is never empty. How cool is that ride? great link bucket
  16. Looks like our front office may wind up being stacked with SABR all-stars: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/mets/strong_willed_manager_not_in_alderson_GcOXSRl7lQxDh6TxTfuewL?CMP=OTC-rss&FEEDNAME=#ixzz13fmBGRwz Alderson will work to bring in a few loyalists from his past to help implement his philosophy. According to several sources, he already has reached out to Paul DePodesta, whom he hired in San Diego, to help strengthen the Mets statistical department and J.P. Ricciardi, whom he worked with in Oakland, to assist on player personnel. DePodesta, the former Dodgers GM, has to decide if he wants to leave the Padres for whom he is executive VP. A few executives briefed on the subject said they think DePodesta will join the Mets. Ricciardi, the former Blue Jays GM, is an analyst for ESPN who is weighing several options. That would be totally awesome to have those guys on board.
  17. The Brian Wilson material keeps pouring in. JIM ROME: "The orange spikes. You got fined a thousand bucks... for orange spikes. What was the fine for?" WILSON: (Scoffs) "Too much awesome on my feet." I've changed my mind on this guy.....used to think he was a douchebag....throughout the playoffs I've gotten to like him and this is just funny. You're a certified ninja?
  18. I think hell be able to keep ownership at bay, said Steve Phillips, a former Mets general manager who acknowledged he was too young and inexperienced when he held the position to have the clout that Alderson will. Oh , fuck of Steve......
  19. Takahasi has assimilated quite well to America I see .
  20. For a guy who once hired LaRussa I am not buying the no drama angle, of course he also hired Art Howe after LaRussa. Chip Hale is getting lots of mentions , being manager is much more than running the team on game though right?, the manager runs Spring Training and all that activity too?
  21. Didn't get to watch this thanks to Rupe and Jimmy but once again it was a pleasure to listen to Dave Flemming and Duane Kuiper.
  22. Edgy DC wrote: Hugely stupd and uninformed question from an out-of-towner, Mike: Can't Cablevison subscribers unplug their cable and pick up FOX's broadcast signal? Damn, we should be able to do that, free to air networks should still be there, might need rabbit ears?
  23. Makes me think this won't be settled anytime soon.
  24. Just got an email from Cablevision, watch the WS on mlb.com for $9:95 and cablevision will credit your bill $10?
