Edgy DC wrote: The real mystery to me is how he got so deep in Manuel's doghouse midseason last year that he could scarcely unhook himself from the bench, even as less productive players were trotted out every day and the season hadn't completely gone cold yet. And IIRC at that time he was playing more than OK right?
  2. Disastrously for him he looks like Bruce Chen right there .
  3. Julio Franco.......based on nothing
  4. Good that's it's a promotion for the guy....I'll say it again....what a moron Samuels was...some people forget how good they have it.
  5. The wife and son watched this Saturday and liked it a lot..
  6. Edgy DC wrote: It was bad worth celebrating, though. The coach was the most worthwhile part to me. I thnk all free throws should be taken with the guy who just fouled you staring at you threateningly from under the hoop. You know that guy was Mike Piazza, right? I wonder if a then 17 year old Piazza got the piss taken out of him for looking like that guy.
  7. I'll read JP in a minute.....he was pretty broke up on twitter about this.. The young girls parents were on the news last night, amazing people....I paraphrase...."my daughter was born on a tragic day and her life ended in tragedy but those are bookends to a great nine years"...... it was a moment to watch
  8. Looking at the list of actors I don't think any of them went on to be household names except Fox of course. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090142/
  9. I remember actually liking this as a 13 or 14 year old, anyway it was on cable yesterday and I watched it....the Fox to werewolf special effects hold up well.......the basketball is still crap and features nothing special on defense. Fox plays the average Joe type pining for the popular girl whose dating the jock form a different school and rival basketball team, his team sucks of course and at this rate he'll never get the girl... nothing like a family curse to turn things around....long story short Fox turns werewolf and fuck it instead of hiding it he flaunts it and all of a sudden he's Chris Mullin out there....the team goes from last to first , some terrible 80's music features here in the basketball scenes, no one really thinks it's odd that a student turns in to a werewolf in this town.....Wolfie wins the girl buuuuuuuuuuuuut......is blind to the affections of his best friend Boof who has always loved him.....Some Kind of Wonderful?......did Hughes steal from this? The ending is not to be missed as Fox refuses to play the biggest game of the season against the jerks team as a werewlf.... dammit he's going to beat them as his true self...cue bad music and even worse basketball...the basketball scenes in this movie are so bad they really stick out.........speaking of sticking out....I couldn't help but notice only the most token of token black persons in this movie .....a movie that could loosely be seen as talking about treating people who look different with respect yyybbb it features nothing but white people..
  10. Terrible......
  11. How am I only seeing this thread now?, I've got one baseball card, that's it.

  15. Sandy likes to control things perhaps Email Sandy Alderson sent out one of those famous Mets missives Friday morning to fans. Here's the letter: With spring training just six weeks away, I wanted to update you on our preparation for the 2011 season. Yesterday, we wrapped up two days of meetings in Port St. Lucie where we went over organizational philosophy and how to implement it throughout the major and minor leagues. It was also the first opportunity for Terry Collins and his staff to sit down and discuss the mechanics of Spring Training and determine how they will emphasize fundamentals, mental and physical preparation and hard work. As Terry has said, the driving force will be playing the game the right way, which will lead to more wins. Over the past two months, we have followed our plan of filling out our roster with reasonably priced players who have significant upside potential. As I have said before, our payroll - which will be among the highest in baseball - gives us limited flexibility, but we do have money to spend. We have acquired players who we think can thrive at Citi Field and complement our existing group of players. As you likely know, earlier this week we signed pitchers Chris Capuano and Taylor Buchholz. Chris is a former All-Star and 18-game winner who last year came back from his second Tommy John surgery. We are confident he has the ability to re-establish himself as a dependable starter who can excel in our ballpark. Taylor has fully recovered from elbow surgery and has the potential to be a solid arm out of the bullpen. Every year players come out of nowhere to become success stories. Look no further than R.A. Dickey. He signed a minor-league deal last January, became a fixture in the starting rotation in May, and finished the season with 11 victories and a 2.84 ERA. I believe some of our offseason acquisitions can be this year's version of R.A. We are excited about 2011. We have a solid core group of players who we expect will make significant contributions to making the Mets a success. As we have said all along, we will put ourselves in the best position possible to succeed both in the short and long term. There will be an exciting brand of baseball played at Citi Field this year that matches the passion and intensity that you have for the team. Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you at the ballpark. Sincerely, Sandy Alderson
  16. Cerrone Yes, kind of, sort of I mean, Im sure theyre doing their best to keep things internal, but most everyone made the same observation about Omar Minaya and his staff when they took over in comparison to Steve Phillips and Jim Duquette. I don't know if that true or not but it just reads like Cerrone is saying it to make his point.
  17. seawolf17 wrote: I think the Mets should sign a sponsorship deal with Segway where relievers Segway in from the bullpen, then Terry Segways back to the dugout after the new guy gets there. And they'd have to put an oversized hat on it. I like it....and really , nothing bad can happen, it's not like they'll fall of a cliff riding the things....
  18. G-Fafif wrote: Funny how it's not Mike Bordick. I was going to go with Kurt Abbott(who as it turns out actually hit 62)
  19. Matt Lawton
  20. I expect him to challenge for the coveted role of eight inning guy. Seriously , I have little expectations...in my minds eye I have never seen him pitch....even though I probably have. Will he come north even?
  21. Mo Vaughn sorry if I repeating others but seven pages so cut me some slack and don't act the bollox batmag
  22. Ed Kranepool
  23. Every time I see the name Juan Gonzalez I think about huge contracts that the Mets wanted to give him , "Juan Signs"
  24. Looking at his B-R page.....Bell was at 1st base for 13 games....starting 3....was he a defensive replacement or what? , 14 games at 2nd( starting 10) and 14 at 3rd....starting 7 .
  25. Eric fucking Valent hit for a fucking cycle....some respect to the departed please....
