  1. The Mets never seem to win day games IIRC.
  2. Edgy DC wrote: Martinez, Martinez, Martinez. did I miss something about Fernando his first few go arounds?
  3. Did Terry the Twat mention anything about bunting? , should Thole be rankled that Collins publicly said he was rankled?

  5. Is the above why Heyman just tweeted this? Jose reyes not about to be traded to SF. "Nothing to it," 1 person says. plus, #sfgiants gm sabean hates dealing prospects Of course that 1 person could be the cabbie

Does your co-worker only work six-months per year? Did your co-worker miss 30% of work last year, performing far below expectations in the other 70% (if so, lucky guy to still have his job)? Did your co-worker just recently return to work and then take his 4 month leave? I hate it when I care more about the Mets than the Mets do. no to all of the above.....
  7. I'm with Soupcan on this , all the way baby.....maybe Bay knocks in some of those men left on base last night.

Even if Wayne didn't take 40 seconds to give you the play result-- he doesn't describe action, so much as he circumscribes what occurred-- this would suggest that this can't be a terribly successful long-term partnership. Indeed, half the time, they sound like they're watching different games. And seriously... if you've got what seems like it'll be a long-term gig with a club, wouldn't you try and study up a bit on some of the names, beyond what a casual baseball fan might know? It's year five, and Hagin knows less about Met history now than he did in '07. that sums Hagin up right there .
  9. soupcan wrote: LARCHMONT?! 30 minutes from CitiField! My head is going to explode. this was basically my reaction to the paternity leave......back Thursday apparently.... hey, my co-worker took paternity leave January first and isn't back until June 1st....
  10. And that's part of the problem with Cohen ant Rose not being together , that had that thing didn't they?, it was all effortless like two lifelong friends yapping on about anything.
  11. Ha , been listening to the radio more than usual lately and a good thing here.....a game a few weeks back when Bay dropped the ball in the outfield and threw to 2nd and Murphy didn't/couldn't make the tag play? , Hagin right away chastised him for not being in position to collect the trow quicker, and sure enough when I saw the TV replay I had to agree.
  12. Gwreck wrote: Lots of Giants fans in the ballpark tonight which makes things that much more unpleasant. We really deserved to lose after screwing up the 9th so badly. Additionally, I am really starting to tire of Chin Lung Hu, who apparently cannot hit major league pitching. If Reyes is going to play essentially every game, we don't need a backup shortstop unless he gets hurt, in which case we can make a roster move at that point. Additionally, I bet Turner could cover if necessary. He has provided essentially no value to the team. Thole really embarassed himself with his defense tonight. The three hits were great but any value they provided were negated by the rally-killing GIDPs. I was disappointed with the bullpen management tonight, particularly in not putting Rodriguez back out for a second inning. I also might have left Gee in, rather than yanking him to have Isringhausen pitch to only one batter (the pitcher's spot was due up second the next inning). --- I recognize that the Mets (and Fred, in particular) are very supportive of the military and veterans. I always welcome an organized military appreciation night, and really, if you've got active duty personnel on leave who get to go to the game for the night, I'm always in favor of them throwing out the first pitch. Thanks for your brave service. But the "We-Killed-Bin-Laden" aura of the night, with the awful, awful hats and the intolerable "God Bless America" and putting Chris Young on the diamondvision to talk 30 seconds of nonsense about how this is a "historic day" was downright offensive. I realize that everybody is going to react to the news in a different, personal way and I am happy to allow for that. For example, I broke out the Johnny Walker Blue on Sunday night as a toast to those responsible for conducting that brave mission. But to have the organized celebration at the BASEBALL game was way out of line. I stand and applaud you and damn it I am going to wear a commemorative hat in your honor....seriously though , the whole thing was a debacle , when Ike squared around to bunt Cohen was beside himself and you could tell needed to restrain his thoughts ......agree on Hu but apparently Collins loves him, every freaking manager seems to have one. On Thole , I thought Darling brought up a good point although I have no idea how true it might be but it makes sense....Thole has gotten very bad habits catching Dickey and when he needs to catch a regular type pitcher those habits are getting exposed ....bad fundies ... Big difference for me between Shea and Citi is that Shea didn't entice you to walk around and savor the ballpark where Citi does , and that's one of the things management wants right?

  14. Edgy DC wrote: Somebody wire some money to Terry. NO BUNTING! Ike has never bunted , it would be alike asking me to bunt..... Terry the twat on to extras
  15. everybody is safe on a great bunt , Wright not in aggressively at third says Keith.
  16. Per Twitter The Mets will wear special stars and stripes hats tonight. Is it military night or is this a celebration of Bin Laden's killing? I know the Mets are giving out free fix to military people but I don't recall any specific reason.
  17. That was a great read and a good refresher course on the state of the org then.......no mention of Howe in the list of possible replacements.....Showalter mentioned but that was never going to happen as he was much like Valentine.... this I don't remember Phillips later called Valentine at home, Valentine said. ''He tried to talk to me the way he talks to someone who is being sent to the minor leagues,'' Valentine said. '' 'This is a very difficult day for all of us. I know how you feel.' It was that speech. I told him: 'Steve, spare me. I'm not doing this on the phone. We'll talk some other time.' '' what a slime ball Phillips was.
  18. A missed opportunity perhaps , Valentine was great with young players too, that Wilpon statement illustrates the kind of work environment Booby was in......

Elizabeth Quiones will sing "God Bless America" during the seventh-inning stretch. Quiones was in my unit. I really hated her. Now she gets to sing the national anthem at Mets games. I hate her even more. But the ticket giveaway is nice. The Mets actually had another offer for free tickets going into the season through the Welcome Back Veterans program. didn't know you were in the armed forces.....go to the game and heckle her.... I guess the jokes do write themselves but fuck 'em , good for the Mets on this.
  22. True , the acting is awful.....the scene that sticks out for me is when Hans is sitting down with the aunt and uncle and they want him to stick around for another eyar yyybbb...it was less than convincing.
  23. Great job , is that Peta outrage real? , I'd not be one bit surprised if it were.
  24. No matter, he's not coming back any time soon. Is Omar being g blamed yet?, haven't seen anything but it won't be long now.
  25. Jennry Mejia will need Tommy John. Mets reporting injury as MCL -- same ligament, different nomenclature. UCL, MCL, same thing. Per tweets
