  2. Weather you believe Megdal or not to me it looks a dire situation.
  3. There is talk on Twitter about Grady Sizemore.
  4. Yeah, I remember distinctly Fran Healy getting in to some rather heated exchanges with Ralph Kiner over Alomar , Healy would go on and on about how Alomar was the greatest 2nd baseman ever.....Kiner as was his wont would counter with Rogers Hornsby. So many silly tings stick out from that ST/season...Stanton driving his Hummer(of course he drove a Hummer, the dick) from NY to PSL.....
  5. They see David Cone out on blocks in the Red Sox front yard and actually haul him off. great line......man, those were crazy times, IIRC Glavine alluded to but then retracted saying he would not have signed for the Mets had Valentine been here....I think that was the year Sanchez was working the scissors in the clubhouse?
  6. What a memory....I remember it being a big deal, there was a lot of talk about the guy...
  7. Yes, kudos to Davidoff, I wonder how many of his fellow voters know what Jeffe's JAWS is, I have not a clue.
  8. It's funny to see doubt about Piazza in the HOF. In his pomp he was regularly called such things as "a no doubter for the HOF", "a certain HOF player", "future HOFer Mike Piazza". Only doubt was the hat.
  9. Dying........great thread already.
  10. Not even Keith Law could dissect the handbags going on in this thread.
  11. Silly boy A remarkably similar type of tweet landed a Liverpool FC player with a fine from the English FA and a reprimand on future conduct FA fines Liverpool's Suso 10,000 for Twitter jibe at Jos Enrique Player calls team-mate gay for having teeth whitened Midfielder reprimanded about future conduct Liverpool's Suso has been fined 10,000 by the Football Association for calling team-mate Jos Enrique "gay" on Twitter. The 19 year old has also been warned about his future conduct. Suso last month posted a picture of Enrique having his teeth whitened with the comment: "What f*** is he doing? This guy is gay he does everything except play football." The attacking midfielder later deleted the tweet and uploaded the photograph with a different comment, saying: "I dunno what to say..." Suso has now been reprimanded for the remark. The FA said in a statement: "Following an independent regulatory commission hearing on Monday, Liverpool's Jess Fernndez Sez (Suso) has been fined 10,000 and warned as to his future conduct for a comment posted on Twitter. The charge, which the player admitted and requested a paper hearing, was that he acted in a way which was improper and-or brought the game into disrepute in that the comment was posted on his Twitter account and included a reference to a person's sexual orientation and-or disability." Suso has become an increasingly important member of the Liverpool first team and has made 13 appearances so far this season. The attacking midfielder moved to Anfield from his hometown club Cdiz in 2010 and signed a new long-term contract in October. Enrique later took to Twitter to express his surprise at Suso's punishment. "Is amazing how FA can fine my friend Suso Fernndez for a banter thing. Was just a joke!!!" the Spaniard wrote. yes it's banter but one should know better this just happened btw.

  13. I thought he was going to be great. My abiding memory of him was his that he always seemed so happy and optimistic in interviews, not a bad quality to have.
  14. Swanie really shot the load with the thread title.
  15. Oh no metirish Dec 22 2009 01:44 PM Re: RA Dickey close to deal with Mets Stop being a dick Omar
  16. Funny stuff..... It's amusing to read 13-year-old posters on message boards who beg their team to trade three marginal prospects for Mike Trout (I mean... the Angels need starters... and we have a 27-year-old guy in single-A who's a starter and I've heard his name before so he must be good... Plus the Angels just signed Josh Hamilton, why do they need Trout?). The Angels would totally do that. And fans of the team who just caught Trout would point out that he has nowhere to go but down after his monster 2012 season, and that the 27-year old might just be the next... ummm... who was the last 27-year-old pitcher who went from single-A to the Hall of Fame? if only it were 13 year old posters.
  17. My first reaction to that list was " Brian Giles played for the Mets?, when?" Hopped over to UMDB and sure enough he did, just not that Giles http://leaptoad.com/mets/profile.php?PlayerCode=0313

  19. A disappointment overall, one of those payers that would quickly fall from the good graces after a good stretch.....seemed like a nice guy though, inspired a great thread when his son was born.
  20. I agree with the gentleman above me.
  21. The whole trade comes asunder when they look at his X-Ray and see he is missing a ligament in his elbow.
  22. Pelfrey joins the Twins says Heyman.

I agree. agree too......sad to see him go but ...... hate to see the negative stuff there on him.....it's not at all surprising though.
  24. more howardmegdal RT @Dave_Gershman: I've never covered a better prospect than Travis d'Arnaud. Also a good dude.
  25. The Mets have made little progress in their attempt to sign Dickey to an extension, little progress or little effort to sign him I wonder.
