  1. I like the details on the Rangers sleeves and inside the "T" on the hat, but it really looks like a college top. The purple-blue gradient on the Royals shirt keeps grabbing the eyes. That's a solid entry, I think.
  2. These bore me to death, but they're still better than the all-black look they just retired.
  3. I hadn't heard that one either. I love the font on Wisco anwyay.
  4. The 2026 batch of City Connect jerseys officially dropped today. Some are old jerseys reimagined. Some are just reboots of previous City Connect jerseys. And some (the Brewers and the Orioles, in particular) really leaned into it and created a new look with different color palettes. What do you think? https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-city-connect-2-0-jerseys-revealed And dig this wild-ass number font. The five looks like a backwards, upside-down two.
  5. Was Matt Williams their manager? If so, I'll guess him. PS - these both sound like lies to me: Tory Lovullo has been the Arizona manager since 2017 James McCann is still an active baseball player
  6. Absolutely. I remember when Theo Wolcott got Thierry Henry's #14. The honor, no doubt, comes with the weight of expectation, but it's still cooler than Henry's #14 collecting dust on a wall.
  7. I do. Just keep putting the numbers up on the wall like they do now, but leave them in circulation and don't call it a number retirement. Call it something else -- the Kings of Queens, the Diamond Club (that's probably already some bar in Citi), the Ring of Honor, something. Retiring numbers is such an unnecessary, largely American tradition with no set standard, so clubs do it just because other clubs are doing it. Retire all the Joneses to keep up with the Joneses. Plus, we're depriving ourselves of some cool shit. What if we ended up with a bunch of great left-handed starters who all wore #36? What if they had issued Doc #41? What if Olerud wore #17 cause he loved Keith? Number lineages are waaaaayyyy cooler than retired numbers. Leave 42 retired (I'm good with that) and put 'em all back in the rotation.
  8. Per SNY, Tyrone Taylor has been evicted from the #15 and will move to #28.
  9. Devin Williams chucking it (effectively) at like 93 MPH had me feeling like he's a bit more Kenley Jansen than Edwin Diaz. Not necessarily a bad thing, just a little scary when 95 is clearly a distant memory for a 31-year-old closer.
  10. Seeing him slam his bat and yell fuck after popping up to second got very grating for me.
  11. Vientos is at first, batting fifth sixth. Benge sits again versus a lefty and Tyrone Taylor gets the start and bats ninth. Semien, who as you will recall, sucks, is hitting seventh. God speed to Francisco Alvarez who is sandwiched between those two.
  12. If the Mets think Semien can still be worth more than a couple wins with the glove, then his leash will be longer. I just feel like Semien's bat has been way worse than anyone thought it might be so far, and given his age and flat spring training performance, my optimism is disappearing quickly. Looking at Semien's StatCast and comparing it to Cano's aborted 2022 season, the things saving Semien (predictably) are his glove, his speed and his eye. But when he's making contact, it's bad. Real bad. I just hope he gets right ASAP and Baty gets going just in case.
  13. I think the Mets saved $25MM in the Nimmo for Semien deal Yep. Even with the savings ($25MM between Nimmo and Semien), they won't be able to justify the man's golden glove if he keeps putting up an OPS+ of 14. Under Cohen, the Mets gave Robinson Cano 43 plate appearances before they cut bait. Just sayin...
  14. On the bright side, Lovelady got a day off and could conceivably pitch today. But on the down side, Lovelady got a day off and could conceivably pitch today. I'm not worried about Bo but hopefully some of those liners will start dropping tonight. I am already worried about Semien. I know it's only 20 ABs, but he had about 40 more in spring that amounted to a .205/.239/.410 line, so the body of work is slowly becoming damning.
  15. Semien's StatCast was already a collection of short, blue bars, but this year so far, it's shockingly bad. Is that what those short, translucent streaks are all over his StatCast page?
  16. Brutal. Zeile didn't mention the contract dispute at all. He did say the Cards shit-canned Joe Torre the same day that he got traded to the Cubs. Gary pointed out that Torre was the guy who moved him from behind the dish to third, like Torre did when he played. Zeile said the Cards front office were so happy to get rid of them both that they had a celebratory toast to their departure. Gary sounded like he didn't remember any of that stuff. Zeile always seemed so inoffensive to me that I was kinda surprised anybody disliked him.
  17. It's 2026 and I can't believe how crappy the green screen tech for the ads behind home plate still are. Devin Williams head partially disappears every time his head moves. Kids making garbage TikTok videos have more video production skills.
  18. Did you all catch Zeile's story about how he was "persona non grata" in St. Louis? It began with Gary's shock that Zeile had never been to this version of Busch Stadium (and it had been something like 23 years since Zeile was last at Busch II). Todd said the Cards ran his ass out of town for being a "troublemaker" because he was the St. Louis union rep, but said they've recently started to invite him to alumni stuff. He didn't necessarily sound thrilled about that development. The Cardinal Way, everyone!
  19. Last night I was getting Eduardo Escobar vibes from Jorge Polanco. Switch-hitters who can play different infield positions with surprising 20+ homer pop and, I think, both were a little underrated.
  20. As a rightfielder, #9 would've been kinda cool. But BENGE 3 looks great, too.
  21. Last September, yep. https://www.npr.org/2025/09/06/nx-s1-5532607/davey-johnson-baseball-orioles-mets-mlb-obit
  22. That will look fantastic if the Mets are wearing Dickies work shirts this year instead of baseball jerseys.
  23. The term "trannie" in any context was a little unsetting to run into, but the photo of Dylan Ross on the 40 and "Baby Gerber" were fine palate-cleansers.
  24. Odd this game isn't available on MLB.tv for me, but it is on SNY on DirecTV way over here in Albuquerque. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
