  1. That explains a lot.
  2. Making some hard cuts, people, on my 2010 top-10 albums list, and was giving an extra look at Justin Townes Earle's "Harlem River Blues" for the 10 spot, based on the strength of my fav song on that album, "Christchurch Woman", about a Kiwi ("How many nationalities have you been with??") he met in a Sydney bar. Long-story short, he got the #10 spot. JTE, MLBS.
  3. OMG, Lee signs!!!

Crawford doesn't know it yet but his off seasons will now be spent playing for Liverpool. Funny. From the tweets: pgammo Peter Gammons Carl Crawford wanted to wear a red tie to his presser . COO Sam Kennedy gave him a Liverpool FC tie, thus merging MLB and Premier League

  7. Just read the quick & dirty highlights. Good job, dudes. So much to like about this little pow-wow, I think. Loved that Greg asked how it feels to have to let a player go from the team. Not sure what kind of answer we would expect to get from an ex-Marine working in pro sports on a question about his emotions, but I thought it was a great Q (and the answer was good, too). Yall make me proud. /sniff Gonna settle in for the long transcript now.
  8. That bro's name is 'Cork'.
  9. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I like it, but authentic filled scorecards would be a billion times cooler. (wheels turning) The Great Mets Scorecard Project would be a really cool thing to do. Really dig the scorecard, BG. Also agree that JCL's project would be bigger & crazier & cooler (in a diff way).

  11. I like the sound of that guy. And it appears we only lost the (allegedly) fireballing Elvin?

  13. Wish "Teen Wolf" Boof would polish my World Series trophy.

  15. Myself, I love the hunting shit, like 'He respects wildlife, he loves to hunt.' It's always been an odd thing to me to remark at an animal's beauty and then shoot its fuckin brains out. But the exploding deer population and their filthy diseases is a huge problem, sez Luke Scott. What are you gonna do, what with all the deer AIDS, deer the Clap, deer SARS, and what have you spreading like wildfire? Go shoot some, dad gummit. Glad he went to a hunting ranch in Michigan to help fight that horrible problem.
  16. Meet Orioles slugger Luke Scott. "Real American", big-game hunter, and proud 'birther movement' bro. Some highlights... On Ted Nugent: I'm a big fan of Ted Nugent because he's a "keep it real" type of guy. He respects wildlife, he loves to hunt. I look at Ted Nugent and ... he's an American. He has the core beliefs of what it means to be an American in his heart. He lives by those beliefs and those principles. It's the same beliefs that our forefathers, who fought for our country, have. I'd be real interested in meeting him one day. On shooting coyotes: There's just not much interest. You don't eat 'em. I like to hunt them just hunt them. Take their skin and get pelts made. It's pretty neat. On "yesteryear" when no man defaulted on a loan or didn't keep a well-intentioned promise: Eighty years ago, 50 years ago, a man would walk up to another man and go in for loan. He'd extend his hand, he'd shake it and he'd look at the man and he'd say, "I'll pay this back." He would do it. You couldn't even ... to even mention that [scenario] today ... is that a cartoon fantasy? That's how far we are removed. On Lance Berkman: Lance? Lance is awesome. He's what I call "A fellow American." He's a good man. On Barack Obama: He was not born here.
  17. Ruby was either in such a rush he forgot to spell check 'Colorado', or he was trying to appeal to the Gen-Y demographic that could give 2 shits about the game & doesn't know post-humidor baseball is totally rad. DEC 7 6:58 PM ET EmailPrintComments By Adam Rubin A source with direct knowledge of the Mets' plans expects reliever D.J. Carrasco will agree to a two-year deal with the Mets. The source also felt that despite interest from the Colorad Rockies, the Mets ultimately would land catcher Ronny Paulino as well. No other free agent signings are expected to be done during the winter meetings by the Mets.

  19. Handsome Kev, thinking he can keep the lid on his hot exclusive til tonight: KBurkhardtSNY Kevin Burkhardt I'm hearing an interesting name might be in the mix for the Mets coaching staff. Find out who on Hot Stove tonight. 7pm on SNY. #Mets 54 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply

  21. Really dug it. Gotta be "in the mood" for a dark, sad-as-shit, depressing apocalypse movie, tho. For the record, I thought from the trailer that they'd ID'd the apocalypse, but they didn't. Seems better that way. You don't know what it was that happened & it doesn't matter. Just about the dad & the son and their survival. Very good stuff.
  22. Oh, Backpack Girl. You're all growns up now. Saw you back on campus for the first time since spring semester. Wondered what happened to you. Thought I'd never see you again. Your hair, so long now. Seemed a metaphor for you growing from the precocious innocence of your freshman year. So pretty. Don't even need your Backpack anymore. Almost didn't recognize you without it. Feels like you've changed so much, left this whole world behind. That makes me sad. Heard you dropped out. Everyone thought you were going to be an OBGYN. Kicking so much ass in the health sciences. Saw your name on the Dean's List under "G". The school paper said your grant was extended. Was so happy for you. But you walked away from it all. Heard you're modeling now. That's cool. I guess. Bet you meet a lot of really buff dudes with six-pack abs and even tans, huh? But are they funny, Backpack Girl? Do they make you laugh? Do they "get you" like I do? Saw some of your images from your last modeling gig pop up online. Was trying to get to my fav social networking site, but mis-typed the domain name and there you were. I was transfixed. I was heart-broken. Was like seeing a ghost. I lost it. I deleted all of my 'bookmarks'. Cleared my cache. Deactivated my Delicious account even. I don't care anymore. Started typing in the wrong domain suffix on purpose just to see you again. Now I spend my afternoons surfing parked domains. Lame, I know. Tried to sign up on match.com thinking it would help. But I found myself typing in 'match.us' instead and just stared at you for 45 minutes. There's no one else with as many matching compatibility traits as you anyway. I miss you, Backpack Girl. Come back to school. We'll get you another JanSport Backpack. Maroon. Just like you like. Let's go back to the way things used to be. Please?
  23. metirish wrote: metirish wrote: It makes some of our contracts look pretty good," Alderson said. They may have a hard time prying Minaya out from under the bus. No shit. Did he really say that? Sure did http://proxy.espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/12659/alderson-werth-that-money Fuckin' bam. Funny & true statement, but agreed that it's a little unchill to Omar. Love how cock-sure he is, tho. Now go sign us up the most bad-ass re-tread there is!
  24. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I liked it even though it was stupid, lowbrow and predictable. Maybe that's why I liked it. It was sort of a send-up and homage to 80s at once, with a whole "Back to the Future" thing going on (Crispin Glover plays a supporting role and there's a whole scene updating Marty McFly's "Johnny Be Good"). It's got John Cusack at a ski resort and an "I want my two dollars" joke, etc etc. Saw this today. Thought of BTTF trilogy, which I love, a few times while watching. Missed the $2 joke thing. Rob Corrdry (Lou) was great. Good, funny flick overall. Gave it a sixer, could've gone seven, but stuck with six. Love that 'Spin' reporter girl. Forget where I'd seen her before. Cutesy.
  25. Willets Point wrote: Backpack Girl actually is on FaceBook, although she doesn't have much to say. According to this article she is the little sister of Dustin Steller of Steller Photography who has many pictures of her on his Flickr page. The photo was taken in Kansas City not on a college campus (and certainly not at Harvard like I thought). Also, she's happily married. Thought you had totally killed my fantasy, Willets Point, with all of your research and reality, and I thought that was so uncool of you. Then I saw the Flickr picks of Backpack Girl now that she's 'graduated' and I want to give you a long, warm, thankful embrace.
