  4. I guess Santana's gonna hafta pitch another shutout today.
  5. It's great that AquaVelva Reyes, the least likeliest guy to ever get on base, is leading off. I think Randolph kidnapped Manuel and is managing this team in disguise. Maybe they could put Argonaut Reyes on that spaceship, too.

Although I wouldn't of minded if they took Franco himself into outer space for a couple of light years, maybe even all the way to the Planet of the Apes.
  7. Johan's making his Cy Young Award move.

  9. Santana's game score for today's shutout is 88, the highest by a Met this season and the only game score to break 80.

Murphy's plate approach (not to mention ability) just fits so much better. Of course maybe we're relatively fortunate that Murphy isn't batting 2nd and having a big chunk of his PAs wasted on bunts. Sigh. I'm going to go back to enjoying the winning now. I know. Imagine the Mets putting an effective hitter in the #2 hole and letting him put his effectiveness to effect without the fu**in first inning sac bunts getting in the way? This has been mostly a foreign concept here since Valentine was fired. (Manuel's not much of a first inning sac bunter (thank god) but his choice of #2 hitters is another story).

Maybe Arugula's in the middle of killing every rally by making outs all the time. Arsenic's pretty damn good at making outs. Maybe that's what Gary meant. What the hell do you all think Gary was talking about? It's funny. When Reyes, Wright, Beltran, and Delgado all hit well, of course whoever is hitting second is going to get taken along for the ride. So whenever Heinous gets those relatively rare hits he scores or knocks someone in and peeps think it's him. You mean J. Reyes? Or Argyle Reyes?
  12. batmagadanleadoff wrote: ="SteveJRogers"]Gotta love the Schnied! How can anyone not like him? Well for starters, Schneider sucks. So there's that. And after that, there's that The Schneid's not even good enough to carry Ron Hodges' bat. But he gets to play more often than ol' #42. So there's that, too.

Don't underestimate the value of a well rested catcher Oh if it was up to me, The Schneid would be the most well rested catcher in the history of the world.

Maybe Arugula's in the middle of killing every rally by making outs all the time. Arsenic's pretty damn good at making outs. Maybe that's what Gary meant. What the hell do you all think Gary was talking about? Looks to me like more Willlie-ball with the practically worst hitter on the team having to bat second. I guess that Wright's gotta come up in the first inning with a better chance than there should be that there's gonna be at least one out already made. Plus Arbuckle's gotta get 40 or 50 more at bats then he ordinarily would by batting 7th or 8th, where he belongs. Is this Omar's idea?

  16. The Schneid's off his schneid.
  17. Dont'cha just love The Schneid? I know I do.
  18. I guess the Mets lineup doesn't matter much today 'cause Santana's gonna throw an incomplete game shutout.
  19. It's scrub day today with The Schneid and Argenis. You know what else annoys me about Argenis? Now I hafta write J. Reyes instead of just Reyes.
  20. MFS62 wrote: Mole, the first time I heard the term was after the Met "Generation K" trio of Wilson, Isringhousen and Pulsipher experienced some arm problems. There was a concern that overworking a young pitcher could hurt their arms. So, pitch count limits were imposed. I recall reading some research about pitch counts right after the 1985 season when public opinion about Gooden was at its' peak. The essay chronicled pitchers that were stars at an early age with high work loads. The research showed that a disproportionately high number of those pitchers were ineffective if not outright done by their mid-20's. The authors were of the opinion that young pitchers should be limited in the number of pitches and innings they are allowed to throw. I remember Don Gullett being one of those examples cited. The article predicted that Gooden would be significantly less effective within a few years, a seemingly preposterous thing to say in between the '85 and '86 seasons. Remember Koufax wanting to trade his own past for Gooden's future?

  22. Schneider still sucks.
  23. Someone showed Schneider my earlier post.
  24. metsguyinmichigan wrote: I'm surprised to see Murphy batting ahead of Tatis. Is that a left-righty thing? I'm not sure but I was thinking that if the bullpen's still a problem, and there's no outside fix, then one way to compensate is to make it up on the offense. Working with what ya got, I would play Castro and Easley more often. Let's be honest here. Brutally honest. Schneider sucks. And so does Argenis. And I'm starting to see some silly-Williness here what with Argenis frequently batting second, no less. I guess there's no way around it but that Omar's Mets have to have an automatic out in between the All-Stars Wright and Jose Reyes.
