  1. With the Mets and Pirates now separated by just half a game in the standings, today's game is the battle for the ninth best record in the NL. With tremendous playoff implications! What a stupid shitshow.
  2. Skenes is pitching so this is must-see TV. Let's get a look at baseball's newest pitching phenom. Tough assignment for the Mets to snap their two-game skid.
  3. Isn't evolution always for the better? Anyways , the batters Seaver faced collectively aren't like today's batters. That's also evolution. As to some of the other posts, maybe youse should also use your 20-20 hindsight to blame Mendoza for playing Lindor: Lindor went 0 for four.
  4. Frayed Knot wrote: Do keep in mind as we continue to blame the bullpen for virtually each and every loss, NYM bats over the last 13 innings managed to amass a grand total of one single (3rd inning today) and two BBs (8th inning Wed, 2nd inning today). In the other ten innings they were retired 1-2-3. [innings 6 thru 9 Wed night and all 9 today] This! The Mets are on a tremendous offensive run, about as impressive a tear as any in franchise history. The entire lineup, top to bottom, is hitting. But the offense has come to a grind over the last game and a half.
  5. ... and if your starters could throw 300 or 400 innings a season, you wouldn't need any relievers. But the game evolved. And pitchers are getting hurt because they're throwing harder and because they're going all out on every at bat, not because they're being coddled. Pitching has gotten harder, not easier.
  6. Gimme a break. The way things are going, soon enough you won't even be able to buy half a house for a million dollars.
  7. Edgy MD wrote: I think you know what that means. You're probably right. It means that you worked it out in your head that the two teams might actually split the first two games. How impressive!
  8. Edgy MD wrote: I had a notion that this series would come down to the last game. What does that mean? That the winner of game three is gonna win the WS? That the loser of game three is gonna be relegated to the Brooklyn Cyclones league?
  9. It's better than the Super Bowl Shuffle. I think.
  10. Youse made me watch the video. I was purposely avoiding it as well as the OMG song itself, video or no video because I was sure it would make me cringe with embarrassment for them. I think I was right. I didn't even get to the part about Alonso dancing. I can't even imagine that.
  11. The Hot Corner wrote: Edgy MD wrote: Tomás Nido is getting paid $2.1 million by the Mets to be a Cub and James McCann be getting paid $9.5 million by the Mets to be an Oriole. Wow, the Mets attempting to upgrade the catcher position while saving money with the McCann signing has really been a costly mistake for the organization. Hard to imagine that McCann ($9.5 mil.) makes over 3 times what Alvarez ($2.7 mil.) does while Nido ($2.1 mil.) & Narvaez ($2.5 mil.) make almost the same. Throw in Torrens ($1.3 mil.) and the Mets are currently paying ($18.1 mil.) to catchers with James McCann making more than half of that to be the Orioles back up. Sometimes, life just doesn't seem fair. I guess Alvarez is paying his dues and setting the stage for his big pay day in the future. That's how it goes. It's got nothing to do with fairness. The Hot Corner wrote: Sometimes, life just doesn't seem fair. Life is rarely, if ever, fair. When Matt Harvey looked like the best pitcher on the planet in 2013 before he hurt himself, he was earning just under half a million dollars a year with the Mets. In 2019, when he was a shell of his former self and already, essentially done toast, the Angels signed him to an eleven million dollar contract.
  12. Look Who's No. 7!! (What a stupid shitshow)!
  13. 2 - Taylor; 3- Boswell; 4- McCray.
  14. Is this the Iwo Jima style image you refer to? [FIMG=333]https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/b0cAAOSwMFxcl5qb/s-l1600.jpg[/FIMG] Of course, those aren't actual Mets on the cover of the premiere issue of Jock magazine, but actors portraying Mets. If that's the image you're referring to, then the answer to #4 must be either Cleon or Kooz, as Seaver is in the HOF and the fourth Met represented on the mag cover is unidentifiable.
  15. 1 - Randle; 2 - Montanez; 3 - Leary; 5 - Piersall.

Anyway ,the Union and MLB need to figure this out , this seems unreliable

But, of course, it's not "necessary," for this is but a game, money be damned. That has nothing to do with my post. I simply asked why, if MLB decided to forensically test the substance, would it be, as you clearly wished for it to be, necessary to have immediate testing results? Yes, it does have to with your post, as it is an answer to your post. No, I don't clearly wish it to be, as I indeed expressed ambivalence, in that post, and two immediately proceeding, suggest that, yes, as a fan, I want clarity, but as a practical matter, have difficulty conceiving the resources that would have to be dedicated to such a matter. It's an answer to my post, but not a very good one as you make points that aren't responsive to anything I wrote. Reads more like goalpost moving to me. Whatever.

Any suspension could be delayed pending testing results. I'm guessing that it would be a lot quicker to test the sticky substance than to develop a DNA profile from blood or hair or fingerprint sweat.

  22. Why is it necessary to have immediate in-stadium, on-the-spot results from sticky substance testing? Law enforcement personnel that gather homicide crime scene evidence for DNA testing often have to wait days if not weeks for results. What's the urgency in a baseball game?
  23. I've always been partial to Bauer in this matter. I think Bauer's conduct was vile and Bauer himself is a terribly flawed individual. Myself, I can't fathom striking a woman in the face even though she consented or asked to be punched in the face. Personally, I would have tremendous difficulty punching someone in the face even if I was legally justified to do so in self-defense. But Bauer's conduct was totally legal and it was plainly obvious from the get-go that Bauer was being set up or scammed by a scorned woman who decided to try and exploit Bauer's considerably deep pockets. She didn't plan to scam him initially and so by the time she did decide to perpetuate her fraud, she was already stuck with bad facts and evidence that couldn't logically be explained away and would eventually undermine her scam. But Bauer's conduct, as reprehensible as it would appear to be, was totally legal and had occurred in a private relationship in the privacy of his own residence, behind closed doors. jesus. believe women. at least read this thread. But go ahead, let the douchebag try, like Lindsey details here, he'll get himself thrown in jail by making the additional evidence public doing that. My comments were based on the incident and allegations involving Bauer's first accuser. I can't opine on other incidents or other accusers, especially where the facts are not publicly known and the records sealed. But I will keep an open mind, should those other records become public. Either way, I'm flexible on this issue.
