  14. Neil Walker is the latest Met to hit 20 HR's in a single season. In recent years, we've been honoring these newest members of the Mets 20-HR club with 20-HR themed quizzes and this occasion is no different. Here's the current quiz. One player per post. No two-in-a-rowing. We're looking for players who've both a) played for the Mets and hit at least 20 HR's in a single season for any MLB team but not the Mets.

No, the Mets doctors are hacks who can't read an MRI if it was plastered to the back of a walking boot. That was all about the money, clearly. It could've been about the money. You don't know for sure no matter how disappointing Gomez's career turned out to be over the last 12 calendar months.

We're working on improving the archive search and the bots should be able to find us better in the future. For example if you google... zimmo site:thecranepool.net ...you get a nice return of possible clicking options. This search format isn't turning up that "Only the Walls were White" thread that Edgy and I remember. In fact, I'm aware of this Google search format for specific sites, and over the years, I'd say that the success rate at finding threads and posts from this forum is easily less than 50%.

You can find the answer by searching for the hundred or so other related threads, which were rudely and pointlessly separated from each other, and then buried in some unsearchable archive (unless you consider having to spend more than 20 minutes at least, a reasonable use of your time to find an old thread) so that inevitably, some well-intentioned poster like you would come along and not know the answer to something that was discussed and pondered from here to eternity. Or try to find those killed threads with the equally pointless and mostly useless forum search engine. Wow. Have a cocktail, dude, maybe, find some undies that fit, because yours are clearly bunching up in your onion hole. I doubt that you're right about anything here. I guess maybe I need to use those little funny face symbols or those squiggly line things that are like internet symbols of expression on account of all you can do is read but not see the writer's face or hear his voice to get other mood cues. Hey, I think this is the first time you ever addressed a post to me in like seven years or something. The last time you wrote a post to me, I'm pretty sure the Mets were still playing at Shea. What gives?
  22. Spahn? Seaver? Spahn's right! He gave up a game winning HR to Hobie Landrith in '62 -- a well known HR in Met lore. I don't think I was aware of that. Make it more well known. I mean, details please. Landrith's Homer Beats Braves, 3-2 Pop Fly Travels 258 Feet, Saddles Spahn with Defeat https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1499&dat=19620512&id=Xf4pAAAAIBAJ&sjid=7yYEAAAAIBAJ&pg=6886,521463 Landrith's HR was the first walk-off HR in Mets history, and in fact, the first walk-off hit of any kind, although they surely weren't calling it a "walk-off" in 1962. The Mets would walk-off beat the Braves in the second game of that doubleheader also, which the Mets obviously swept. Craig Anderson was the winning pitcher in both games of the twinbill. Go ahead and ask Craig when he'd get his next win. Read about that here at the Hardball Times. http://www.hardballtimes.com/craig-andersons-greatest-day/ [fimg=444]https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8617/28256744984_4b6db0ed07_o.jpg[/fimg] From William Ryczek's book: [fimg=800]https://c4.staticflickr.com/9/8103/28249294123_49b9482e5f_o.jpg[/fimg]
