  6. Whoever gets the last pitcher and last hitter automatically gets 10 points for those picks. Plus a high chance of scoring 10 as the remaining picks dwindle.
  7. I'll take Staub for the #4 hit spot.

The 2020 NL Cy Young Award watch: https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/NL/2020-pitching-leaders.shtmlhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/NL/2020-pitching-leaders.shtml deGrom wouldn't and shouldn't win it if the season ended right now, but he's one of the NL's best 10 pitchers this season, so far, and within striking distance of the league's very best. And by very best, I'm talking about based upon just three or four starts.
  11. The Mets are a serious contender even if deGrom's pitching for their opponent. Five baseball games? Are you fucking kidding me?
  12. Steve Cohen woulda re-signed Zack Wheeler. No. Wait. Steve Cohen woulda signed Gerritt Cole.
  13. Well, one can't always know for sure why the home plate ump makes an incorrect ball/strike call.
  14. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=43225 time=1596999150 user_id=68] Jake went into that last inning with a 1.71 ERA and came out with a 2.45 ERA.

The ump incorrectly called that pitch over the plate ball four because the Marlins catcher framed it poorly. Maybe, but either the TV 'box' and the actual strike zone are totally out of synch, or this crew has had a terrible series. There have been balls being called strikes, strikes winding up as balls and it's neither a big nor small zone just a totally inconsistent one. On the replay for this particular pitch, they didnt show the box/grid. The replay was from above or overhead.

  18. If this furshlugginer baseball season ended right now, the ninth seeded 6-9 Mets would miss the playoffs by half a game.
  19. Health experts worry coronavirus could cause lasting heart complications for athletes [FIMG=555]https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-apps/imrs.php?src=https://arc-anglerfish-washpost-prod-washpost.s3.amazonaws.com/public/X6QPZRWUKII6VATLZQ4U3ASOGU.jpg&w=916[/FIMG] Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez was sidelined for the season after screening revealed he had myocarditis. (Michael Dwyer/AP) Excerpt: “They think, ‘If I get, it's not a big deal; it's going to be like having a cold,' ” Schneider said. “It may not just be a cold. It may end your sports career. Hopefully not, but there is a sense it's much more serious than we are thinking, or in particular our young athletes are thinking.” Schneider is one of many cardiovascular experts concerned about the nascent, growing body of evidence about how covid-19 affects the heart. The studies have not focused on athletes, but their findings have implications for the sports world. Research raises the possibility that athletes who recover from covid-19 may face dire or lasting heart complications, and medical experts have urged cardiac screening for athletes returning to play after contracting the virus. Two high-level athletes — including the projected Opening Day starter for the Boston Red Sox — have reported heart issues in the wake of recovery from covid-19. [***] Dean Winslow, an infectious-disease doctor at Stanford University, said research has shown as many as 20 percent of people who recover from covid-19 show cardiac abnormalities. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2020/08/08/athletes-coronavirus-heart-complications/https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2020/08/08/athletes-coronavirus-heart-complications/
