And the people who know him know that he has worked for the Red Sox and The Mets and consulted with the Rangers and the Pirates. So, shouldn't he have identified the team he was speaking about when he said "we"? Later
  2. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: To be clear, Zack Scott isn't a reporter. The reporter is Passan and Scott is remarking on his reporting Scott still didn't let us know what team he was talking about. We shouldn't have to look it up. Later
  3. Nice of him to let us know that. Thanks. Later
  4. It is unprofessional when a sportswriter uses "we". It is really fucking unprofessional when he writes something like that and doesn't specify which team "we" refers to. Is he that pompous that we should know the team because he is reporting about it? (one of my pet peeves) Later
  5. (In best Don Corleone voice) "What have they done to my game? I don't want his mother to see him like this" Later
  6. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Stearns inherited Ottavino and Quintana. Manaea came from the Giants. Manaea had been in the Al for 6 of his 8 previous seasons. But has he acquired any players who played most of their careers in the NL? I can't think of any. Later
  7. =Fman99 post_id=180041 time=1733173164 user_id=86] Cubs getting Matthew Boyd (as per sources) for 2 years and $29 million. And unlike Frankie, he was good at baseball last year. So what the hell
  8. Edgy MD wrote: Thanks for giving the Frankenpitcher his own thread. Nu Met acquisitions deserve as much. We hope this will be the first, with many better ones to follow. Later
  9. The Mets re-signed Alex Ramirez to a minor league contract. Maybe non-tendering him got his attention, and he will work harder to harness his five tool talent. Later
  10. Nice theory.(and analogy) Mine is he said he wants to build an organization from the ground up, and this is what he found on the ground. Later
  11. I'm underwhelmed, bordering on whelmed. Later
  12. And I'll guess the Baseball Annies aren't as hot, either. Later
  13. MLBPA and MLB announced that In the last two testing periods, there have been three players who were on 40 man rosters who have failed substance tests. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-mlbpa-drug-testing-results-2024?partnerId=it-20241130-11875035-mlb-1-A&utm_id=it-20241130-11875035-mlb-1-A&lctg=32496098https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-mlbpa-drug-testing-results-2024?partnerId=it-20241130-11875035-mlb-1-A&utm_id=it-20241130-11875035-mlb-1-A&lctg=32496098 Do you think that is an accurate number or are the players are getting better at masking the substances? Later
  14. Unlike Chipper, he hit the Mets for lots of homers(didn't he have the record for an opponent at Shea?), but you really couldn't dislike him. Later
  15. Stargell - '79? Later
  16. =stevejrogers post_id=179847 time=1732747669 user_id=57] My first thought was this was about then rookie Miguel Cabrera's output against us over two decades ago!
  17. I think he was. I believe the view in which he is held stems from one play. I forget all the details, but is looked like he dogged it chasing a fly ball that cost them a game. It got a lot of press, and was a hot topic on WFAN, with Massive Mike and the Cretinous Canine leading the charge. Mike hated it that Bonilla had signed a high dollar contract right after the two of them had been embroiled in a contract dispute with their station. They basically rode him out of town. It was unjust. In all the games I saw Bonilla, he busted it on every play. And hustling is all you can ask from a player. Later
  18. CF, "worked up" seems to be an understatement. As Popeye used to say, "Unlax". The local papers are suffering from a severe case of premature exultation. Don't get upset. We'll know when we know. But if you have any other theories, pass them on. Later
  19. It's a beginning. Later
  20. Fixed. It isn't novel. But they seem to leverage it very well when balancing their budget to have several mega-stars on the roster at the same time. Later
  21. =metirish post_id=179805 time=1732713192 user_id=72] And $62 million deferred according to some and a $52 million signing bonus , so what's the actual annual hit ?
  22. And if it is, what is the remedy? Are the contracts voided? Are the teams fined or do they lose a draft pick? To whom do they appeal? The devil is in the details. Later
  23. ECHHHHH! Later
  24. The guy who drove the shuttle bus to/from Syracuse deserves a full share. Later
  25. According to Randy Miller of NJ.com, the free agent superstar has received contract offers from five teams, including the Yankees and Mets, has one of the highest-profile free agencies in the history of the sport could be entering the home stretch. Per Miller, the Blue Jays, Red Sox, and Dodgers are the other teams to have submitted offers to Soto. MLB Network's Jon Morosi corroborated the report shortly after. Later
