  1. How ironic.: Check out the quote by Wright. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/13/sports/baseball/13helmet.html?_r=2 What if? Later
  2. Even if they were to painfully castrate all males in the Molina family, it wouldn't change History. But if I could invent a time machine .... Later
  3. ="DocTee":pcp1jqvk]95 consistently. Even in the sixth.[/quote:pcp1jqvk] Thanks, Later. themetfairy Aug 15 2009 12:02 PM I had fun sitting with G-Fafif and dgwphotography at the game, and appreciated Han Solo (and his adorable son) making a trip up to the Pepsi Porch to say hi. The old timey uniforms aren't the Mets' best look. But if they continue to have 2:19 shutouts while wearing them, then they can wear 'em forever. Bobby Parnell - David Wright -

  5. ="Frayed Knot":1e5larkb]If something disappears that I've never heard of am I still allowed to miss it?[/quote:1e5larkb] Only if you're in the forrest. Later G-Fafif Aug 15 2009 12:59 PM The Sporting News archive was a treasure trove. Wondered why it disappeared. Google giveth, Google apparently giveth only so much. Kong76 Aug 16 2009 07:56 AM I sifted through some discussions on this and it's mostly angry users who had their free info taken away. Seems googles official stance is it will be incorporated into the news archives part of The Empire but "that takes time." I did a news archive search for Ed Kranepool 1967 and it just brings up pay- per-view stuff in The NY/LA Times and Chicago Tribune. I'd like to read about Ed, but not for $2.95 an article.
  6. What were Bobby's pitches hitting on the gun? I didn't see the game. Later
  7. No need to repeat a thread from years ago, but let's just say that I'm not entirely thrilled to see that Mets-molesting motherfucker's name in a thread title. Much less to see him on tv. And, as Doc says, Ralphie would show the grinning bastard in the TV booth whenever possible and call him "The Polish Prince". Other than that, nice KTE. Later
  8. He makes millions, but I don't want to trade places with Adrian Beltre. From the news wire: Adrian Beltre-3B-Mariners Aug. 13 - 7:53 pm et Mariners placed 3B Adrian Beltre on the 15-day disabled list with an injured testicle. Cue the laugh track. Beltre, who doesn't wear a protective cup, had a ball clip him in the groin during Wednesday's game. There was some tearing and internal bleeding. The team is waiting to see if he will require surgery. With surgery, he would be out a month. Without, roughly two weeks. Later
  9. Justin Huber hit a grand slam homer against Buffalo the other night, and his Rochester team is pitching Phil Humber against Buffalo this afternoon. Later
  10. Some more details: Report on Mejia's start from Metsminorleagueblog. This is the exciting part of the night, except that a severely pitch-count limited Jenrry Mejia was held to three innings in his first start in just over seven weeks. Mejia walked the first two men he faced and gave up three runs on two hits in the top of the first, but settled in from there and retired the Senators in order in the second and third innings while hitting 96 on the NYSEG Stadium radar gun. Mejias pitches and strikes by inning per Brian Moritz at his twitter page (@psbmortiz): Inning - Pitches - Strikes - Strike % 1 - 31 - 15 - 48% 2 - 10 - 8 - 80% 3 - 10 - 7 - 70% Total - 51 - 30 - 58% Later
  11. ="metsguyinmichigan":huctzscd] After attending a couple games at Wrigley over the past two seasons, I'mThe activities out there seemed to have little connection to the activities on the field. He more or less missed and didn't throw the cup, but see if you don't see a second shower come out of the stands from the right of Victorino --- your right, his left -- after the first guy pounds his from your left and Shane's right. Anybody who throws a homerun ball back at CitiField should acknowledge their Cubs wannabeness, move to Chicago and join that crowd. Met fans had mostly been waiting 44 years to catch homerun balls.[/quote:1gewy1sc] I think the guy on V's right was the actual (primary) beer tosser. Got into a little late-night debate (prompted by a Facebook post) with a Phils-fan friend who does work for various Philly-area nonprofits about this. Vic's apparently a hell of a guy off-field-- she's worked a few fundraisers with him-- a WXPN guest-overnight-DJ gig, some Children's Hospital stuff-- and he's exceedingly generous with his time, and funny, and gracious to everyone he spends said time with*. "Yes," I said, "but that doesn't mean that every time I see him gesture at the Met dugout, I won't give him the finger inside my head." (*Utley, on the other hand? By her thirdhand report, kind of a stoner d-bag, especially since last fall. Oooh, I feel like TMZ!) Frayed Knot Aug 13 2009 11:55 AM I like the 'What did I do?' look on the guy's face as he's being carried out. That and the fact that a lone Philly phan out there is pelting him with peanuts as he goes. Farmer Ted Aug 13 2009 03:13 PM Victorino files a police report against the fan who dumped the Old Style on his head. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Aug 13 2009 03:44 PM Al Smith didn't file no report.

  13. The 20 year old third baseman, now at Kngsport, was a 4th round draft pick in 2007. He was injured much of last year. Welcome, kid. Later
