  1. Joe and Evan were talking about Price today. They said for someone who has a reputation as a "big game" pitcher, he has losing records against his then-division foes, the MFYs and BoSox. And its not like he was losing well pitched games because his team couldn't hit. His career ERAs against those teams are well into the mid-4s. And while we're at it, the MFYs have been mesmerizing AL teams into submission all year. There are some real crap teams in that league, and they seem to play even worse when they play the MFYs. Later
  2. CBS Sports is reporting that he has cleared waivers and now can be traded to any team. Later
  3. His wife was right. And, any advertiser that pulls its ads from their broadcasts until he is suspended or fired will be right, too. Later

  6. They had a day for Clueless Joe at YS III yesterday, and put his number up on the wall. Callers to the local talk shows are saying that Mariano Rivera, the guy who added 50 points to Torre's baseball IQ wasn't there. (If he was, he was invisible. Bernie Williams wasn't seen there, either.) I can neither confirm nor deny those comments. Later

  8. I dislike Van Slyke. All of them. Later
  9. Maybe its makeup for having to play those Friday-Monday wraparound series. ( CBA small print?) But, MLB will probably get back a them by having Angel Hernandez umpire the LA series. Later
  10. Don't let Fuld tie this thing. Later
  11. I'd like to toss some luv at Carlos Torres. For the past two years, he's been the glue that has held this staff together. He's been used as a starter, middle man, setup man and closer. And, except for what was probably an arm weary recent stretch, has performed very well. Every staff needs a guy like that. We're lucky Carlos is our guy. Later
  12. Just saw the in-game box score. For a team not hitting, why isn't Wilmer playing? Is he (shudder) hurt? Later

The kind that he's forced to play in because the fans demand their last look at the myth, the legend, the Ford Edge spokesman. And he piles up a streak of 0-for-4's and LOBs. He drove in the winning run last night with the 2,347th seventeen hop, seeing eye, opposite field, hit of his career, extending his own all-time major league record. Later
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: Two wins on back-to-back days with only 4 hits each, and only 1 HR total. The metrics guys must be going bonkers over that one. Later
  15. Mets Willets Point wrote: I think I'd really enjoy seeing a Royals-Pirates World Series. It would kind of have a 70s throwback feel even though it never happened in the 70s. Me too. The Pirates could wear those bumblebee unis and the Royals would be covered in pine tar. Later
  16. Frayed Knot wrote: I was sure that one or both of those missed opportunities via the bad base-running DPs was going to come back to bite us. Speaking of biting, by the end of this season, the team will owe me some new fingernails. These one run games are nerve wracking. Later
  17. We're moving slowly toward sponsorship on unis. Already, the MFYs have sponsors for everything: "The next pitch is brought to you by Wilson Tar Company". "This trip to the mound is brought to you by Travelocity". "This stepping out and scratching is brought to you by Sam's Jock Itch Powder". The possibilities haven't been fully explored yet. But eventually, ads on the unis will be here. When they go on the road, will they advertise things in the city they're visiting? I can hardly wait to find out. Later
  18. Nice quote. I liked Carlin, too. But both of my quotes were pertinent to my feelings about Collins. I feel its time to move on. Later

  22. My favorite Robin Williams moment is in Birdcage, where he teaches the dance troupe, and emulates the styles of famous choreographers. I couldn't get the link to work. Later

  25. While MdD deserves the promotion, they might have called up Downtown Brown to fill the righty power hitter spot on the big club. Later
